I never go out for black friday shit, but $5 time cards and $10 MoP is pretty tempting (assuming the $5 time card thing is accurate).

It was my understanding that until you are getting close to BIS frost is still better, so your dps being bad might not be a spec problem ^^
True, it is also entirely possible that mages are incredibly gay in terms of PVE.
It cannot by any means be my lack of mage knowledge, or care for the class in PVE. That is certain~

Seriously though, I should just go back to my lock.. Destro is baller status. I can't stomach mages at all, they bore the poop out of me

To me, one of most enticing things about WoW is you can have a very different experience while playing the same game if you play a different class. Rogues don't play like hunters who don't play like mages who don't play like paladins, etc. And usually even the same class has three different playstyles thanks to the spec system.

Of course there's exceptions like hunters whose specs are all very similar, and rogue specs which are pretty hard to distinguish (except combat I guess which is fairly simple compared to most rotations).

I'm far from an expert on class theory, but I do have one of each class at lvl 90. I also haven't played since the last patch so not sure if that changed anything.

That said I've found Mages presently much harder to get decent DPS out of than the other classes. I'd guess there's two reasons for that :

i) they scale much better with the highest level gear and then hit their stride;

ii) they are relatively 'high' maintenance (for WoW) in that you have to constantly cast your DPS buff (on yourself or on the ground and stand in it) making theoretical DPS higher than most people achieve. So if you're one of the best players with the best gear you can achieve best DPS, but personally I've never been a fan of short term buffs and don't find them fun.

Again just my opinion and I'm open to correction from any Mages on the forum but I find my Lock far easier to get good numbers on, more fun to play and much more versatile.

Where do you go for endgame warlock information? EJ Subforum has nothing current.
For the most part I think the days of dedicated class sites are gone (unless you're a tank). MMO-champ has it's fair share of retards, but I think every class subforum has a few people who know what they're talking about. At least for paladins /shrug

Icy Veins has decent guides to all builds with input from some of the best players :

Class Guides (WoW MoP 5.4) - Icy Veins

Noxxic has decent guides for all builds and a reasonable assessment of DPS rankings :

World of Warcraft Class Guides, DPS Rankings and Talent Calculator - Updated to 5.4 (MoP)

egDestruction Warlock DPS Stat Priority for PvE DPS - WoW 5.4 (MoP)

DPS rankings (interesting to note the disparity between theoretical and realistic DPS for some builds as well as how some of them fare differently as ilvl increases) :

Destruction Warlock DPS Stat Priority for PvE DPS - WoW 5.4 (MoP)

Assuming it can be purchased online, I will definitely be getting a $10 MoP and the time cards so that I can RAF myself.

Are expansions keys region locked?

Would love to get my hands on MoP for 10 bucks just to fool around a week or two and see the stuff I missed, but meh, euro-dude here.

The other day I was annoyed because I didn't realize the rare mob I attacked had 10 million hp and it was taking so long to solo it. I even had to use my pet heal and LOS an non-iterruptable 200k DD it would toss at me sometimes. Then I was like, LOL HUNTER PROBLEMS.

Also I started raiding this week. I ran all of ToT (2 necks, 3 rot offset breastplates) and all but the last wing of SoO (1 weapon, 3 gold bonus rolls) and I was never less than top 5 dps with my blue weapon and exactly 496 ilevel with no enchants and sloppy "I'll mash cooldowns if I happen to remember to" and "the best dps talents are the ones that say passive because fuck having more buttons" and "I macro my trinket to explosive shot" laziness. And I was worried that I'd get kicked for poor dps at 85kish single target, hah. At least half were under 50k, even in Soo.

And the stupid shit I saw, in just one week of LFR, was just... I mean, in the past I would say "well, it's the first few weeks of a new raid, and reading is hard" But this was months old content and these people had done the fight at least once before. How in the fuck, can an entire raid of experienced players, not know that you have to kill the 3 pandas at the same time? And hit enrage after they heal over and over for 3 or 4 minutes? And what sadist gave LFR only 15 seconds to accomplish this incredible feat? How do 5 people that have done the fight before die from running AWAY from the raid when they get inferno blast? How do 8-10 people die the first time the Sha of Pride poops out bombs under their feet? A 5 stack on Galakris, really? He's barely more than an extended trash pull.

It is mind bottling how stupid some people are.

I know, for all intensive purposes they are just brain dead.

Also, much love for the Dark Shaman fight. Because I can picture me as a mage doing that fight and immediately quitting again.

The people who used to 'lead' the LFRs, raiders who were looking for some off-gear or gearing up their alts, have mostly left the LFR scene for Flex Raiding at this point.

So what you are left with in your average LFR are the mouth breathers who could not cut it in a flex raid, the super casual people who do not want to put forth the 10 minutes of effort to get into a flex raid, the people who are there only for chances at Legendary quest pieces, and the LOLYOLO people who try to die in a fire/auto-attack the boss so they can go AFK for the rest of the fight.

Even rarer is the person who comes back to WoW with no expectations of LFR, gets into it, and goes 'This is really what the game is like now?', without knowing the status of everything, so they assume that the entire game is like that and just give up. It is sad.

LFR is confined to the dregs of WoW society these days. Anyone who can follow instructions does Flex so there is no incentive whatsoever to do LFR except maybe a handful of people who are looking for their last few stones for the cloak quest.

-edit- I did not intentionally word-for-word Rime's post haha.

I was doing that fight a couple weeks ago, eyes glossed over, just imagining how much i don't want to do this fight on a real difficulty setting.

Fights don't need a 5 page list of mechanics, things are getting out of control.

Er... Dark Shamans is relatively easy on Flex and Normal, particularly for DPS/Healers. It is really only tanks who have to worry about anything (Positioning Ash, Swapping, and Positioning Oozes). DPS have to not stand in the giant red circle, ranged kill the oozes, do not stand in the giant green line, and do not stand in the giant purple cloud.

Hrm, where you raiding Kreug?

And is anyone doing Flex raids that a shitty horde rogue can join in on? I might just start leveling the DK and/or Priest (or alliance shaman/hunter/bullshit).

Flex didn't exist and I had no reason to look into cross-realm open raiding or whatever when I played last so I have no idea what is involved in getting into that. Maybe once my gear is less pathetic and I'm not overwhelmed with shit to do in-game I'll give it a try. But my time commitment to all of this is pretty low. I'd rather play battlefield than spend ten minutes sending out resumes to get into a raid. (if that's what it takes, I really don't know)

At the moment, my only goal is "do the content, prepare Hunter for next expansion." I will see where it goes from there.
