FWIW, cloak will most likely last until level 100 dungeons. And shit, if people are still playing WoW right now, not like they have anything else to do but do some gear grinding.

They better up the drop rate on all runes too or nerf the amount you need.. or both. Even if 6.0 were to hit on october first thats 5 weeks to get ~2 or 3 weeks of secrets/runes if you're lucky lol.
They clearly want people to get their cloaks before the expansion hits, so they may as well make it even more accessable.
the cloak will definitely last until heroics/lfr considering dungeon ilevel is like 598 or something? and doesn't have gem sockets/proc to make up for.

I don't know that the valor change is to make it more accessible so much as the fact that valor is not possible to earn any more.

I hadn't even thought of that. I don't think they've mentioned old sources of valor giving lesser charms.

Bleh some classes just scale way faster. Because I'm a masochist decided to play my druid as balance. 540 ilvl (including cloak) and I can barely pull 70-100K depending on fight mechanics. I can't get below 20% hit completely reforging out of spirit.
On the bright side, no one noticed today when my druid got 'A Test of Valor' despite having the cloak on...

ilevel should be scaled by slot like the way gearscore worked, so weapons count for more towards your average than rings etc. Instead of the arbitrary number gearscore spit out, a full set of 550 ilevel items would still add up to a 550 ilevel. Then it might have a chance of being less worthless of a metric.

I don't know if it still works, but if you alt-f4 on one character and log on another and flip to 3k/3k, you got the achievement on both because of the bnet account propagation of achievements.
I'd guess it only works the first time you get it though when it propagates.

well, good thing about this expac is that you won't replace all your gear immediately like you did in wotlk > cata. Apparently you can keep your high end raid epics until you're starting normal dungeons at max level which I think is the superb design. If you remember vanilla, technically you could have ivl 95 weapons (dropped off kel'thuzad) and you started replacing these with ilvl 93 weapons at max level. Way better design like this instead of the bullshit where all your work is nullified the second the level cap increases.
I can't wait to murder everything with my 588 monk, to be frank!

And even then, it doesn't make sense to have it as a major objective "for the expansion". The only difference between your quest blue cloak and the legendary cloak is whether it's going to be replaced after 1 hour or 1 day of /playing. Ok, maybe 2 days.
It's core design for WoW that no gear of an expansion is remotely relevant for the next one.
Truth. Which is why I'm only resubscribing probably one or two days before expansion, to shift characters around, clear up bank clutter, and that's all.
If anyones running normal SOO, i'll pay for a spot on a clear so i can get that dumb achievement. Nyrruk#1565
