With the upcoming Warlords of Draenor pre-patch (6.0.2), we will be releasing sidelined characters' names back into the wild.

Any characters that have not logged into the game since November 13, 2008 will have their names freed up, making them available to anyone creating a new character or using the paid Character Name Change service.

How Do I Preserve My Names?
You will need to log in to World of Warcraft and enter the game using each character whose name you wish to retain before patch 6.0.2 goes live. While it is possible no one will claim your recently released name and you might be able to snag it again, it is probably not worth the risk if you want to keep your names intact long-term.

Our goal with this great name liberation is to make sure new and returning players have a large and varied pool of names available to choose from-so log in now if you wish preserve your unused characters' names for your journey intro Draenor.
Heads up if you are going to come back from a lengthy break.

Pretty slick way to drag back some older players maybe who can't bear to lose their character names. Although that's a pretty long time ago.

The 'videos' are just backstory on the orcs, there is no option to join them, even if you are Horde.

I am sure our motivation to kill them will be, 'THEY ARE INVADING! DOOK THEM IN THE OOKER BEFORE THEY DOOK YOU, SUCKER!'
Doesn't matter if you can join them or not, the videos are just making them more awesome. And the reason you listed is probably closer than you think. Given the time machine shit, it really wouldn't surprise me.

We have any gladiator level pvp'ers that follow this thread? Trying to get back into it (Glad in S4, S5), its crazy how gear dependant the game has gotten pvp-wise nowadays.

Looking to get some reliable arena and rbg groups going , but it seems like most of you are pve'ers for the most part.

Well, these are the orcs that decided it'd be grand to make a pact with demons to invade another world for the fun of it. And the short lived kinder, gentler orc thing went right out the window as soon as Thrall took a new job.

It's because Garrosh is a little faggot who decided to go back and convince his dad not to drink mannoroths blood and continue to be the conqueror he has always been. I would assume he just says "Oh, you can invade azeroth too because they beat me, but they can't beat us together! lol!"

If grom can kill his wife for being weak, he sure as hell can kill his own son. I hope it happens like that~

I have no idea what Gul'Dan's role is going to be, but i'm looking forward to it. He looks like a total badass in the beta. He also seems like he has his own agenda though, considering the iron horde had him chained up and captured. I wouldn't be surprised if they end up branching him off to introduce the legion threat someway or another.

Garrosh just has raging rose tinted glasses for the "true horde" and thinks they'd be unstoppable without the "weakness" of demonic taint. He's basically Dumar.

And MOP story was pretty good. Sha, Klaxxi, Mogu, all pretty good stuff. It's just Garrosh being such a cardboard character that hurts it, really. Thrall puts him in charge, really?

Id rather Alliance acted like the US and put sanctions upon the Horde for Garrosh and his actions - since you know, we invaded Orgrimmar and fucked shit up. Instead we play patty cake and hold hands with Vol'jin because Spawn came to visit World of Warcraft.

Was the lore that bad in MoP? At least for the larger storyline? I only raided through Wrath, but the parts of Cata I checked out casually seemed like they had a decent storyline. Never really understood the whole Garrosh rise to power story, didn't delve that deep. It felt like they had a ton of lore threads they could have followed from Vanilla/TBC that they didn't really touch on or only did in small doses.
MoP was fine, there was just an undercurrent of passive racism in certain parts of the playerbase who can't handle mythology based on non-Western sources so they bitched about how it wasn't "real" Warcraft and Blizzard needed to go back to orcs vs humans.

NB: These are some of the same people bitching about WoD being "the same old Warcraft" and "can we have a break from orcs already?"

I wonder if they're going to end up doing anything with the caverns of time in Draenor? They could offer so much more out of CoT than 3 instances/raid. But I guess what else are you really going back to? I honestly feel that ultimately the end-goal of WoD is going to be defeating the burning legion again but there's no fucking way they can let Sargeras be a defeatable boss.

Maybe we'll finally find out what the deal is with the Infinity flight. Saw on mmoc or something that there were new npcs popping up around the CoT.

I'm not a lore buff and I guess the shit just went over my head. But what hinted at racism? What had a western... Theme?

His comment meant that some people get asshurt about Eastern style/themed stuff in a Western MMO.

You know, basically the Screenshots/Rickshaw forum portion of the playerbase.

I resent you labeling me a cardboard character, much less a Blizzard character!

Aren't fantasy races supposed to be blatant stereotypes of real world races? I think the only thing that could even be considered as slightly racist is the hoshi toshi pandaren accent but that's a huge stretch. It wasn't like they were buck tooth slant eyes exchanging Ls for Rs or anything.
