Just buy an HC carry, it's only 5-8k on most servers, doesn't matter how shit your gear is then. Even 8k is peanuts if you remember you're buying a weapon that will last you the entire levelling process and into the level 100 dungeons (or crafted, which will besignificantlymore than 8k). Means you can enchant it and carry that enchant the entire 90-100 journey too. IMO

Could even just buy a normal carry if you're cash strapped, by 100 they're all the same ilvl anyway (the heirlooms).

edit: I managed to get one of each weapon type into normal (and luckily got the staff on the caster) and got the 2h axe and the bow on hc as I had warrior and hunter at a decent ilvl. But I bought the HC carry for my enhance shaman so he had 2 axes, and may do same for my rogue so he has 2 daggers...or I'll just level him as combat if I'm feeling cheap.
Is there actually any difference between the normal/heroic/mythic heirloom weapons once you level up to level 91?

That's a pretty damned good idea. I can probably grind out the gold in just a few days.
If you are good, in one evening you do 6-8k. Well, post patch probably less as materials are not as sought as they were before, but still...
Buy a heirloom for 5k, it's worth it.

I've essentially been away from the game for two years, so just now coming out of a coma...so not that good.

Any good ideas for drumming up gold for no Profs/no want the play the AH, other than running dungeons?

Buy some Potions of Luck. Slaughter Mogu in Valley of Eternal Blossoms, vendor the greens (or disenchant them and sell the disenchant mats if you have an Enchanter), sell the cloth. Once you have ~60 Keys, go down the left-branch of Guo-Lai Halls and chain-open chests in the final room. If you get enough skyshards to get an Alani mount, either grab the mount for yourself, or sell the kill to someone for a decent chunk of gold.

There are better, faster sources of gold to be made farming, but if you're broke and in shit gear this one's pretty straight-forward, and doesn't require Auction House camping.

Hell I'm considering buying heroic Garrosh carries for my main (565) and secondary (557) chars even though I should be able to get into a group with them just fine. Main is a warlock, the other is def warrior. But I'll rather spend 10-15k (combined) than sit through a whole evening in a terribad PuG and punch a hole in my screen. Bought carries for my paladin and priest already (both somewhat undergeared but upwards of 540) because it's just more convenient.

Downside - I'll get another 1hs and another int staff that way. But that will save me the hassle of sending mail back and forth.

Finished my paladin's T2-lookalike-purple set (BC dungeon set) today (minus bracers but fuck bracers for now). She's looking fabulous. Even got Gruul to drop the shield first try.

What he said. You can still dump all your herbs, dusts, ores on the AH with just auctioneer, no camping required, even if they don't sell for much, it's still gold.
I prefer to run guo-lai halls once a week, more and my brain melts. I'd rather clear all the old raids, starting from MC and finishing at Firelands (which are not so trivial for non hunters/warlocks if undergeared). You can get a few thousands. If you are into questing, clear all the pandaria zones, there are well above 10k golds in quest rewards and if you add all the junk you loot, your gold count will skyrocket fast.

I never really need gold, I sit on a comfortable pile of 70k (per faction) and when I need to pay 5k or 10k to buy expensive stuff, I can make those back in no time without even noticing.
As somebody said, just finding a couple of pets from old raids can give you a few thousands right away. Playing a hunter is a very good thing if you need to get rich fast, there is pretty much nothing you can't do alone, except the current xpack raid tiers.

I've had a hell of a time trying to find cool armor for my Pally, I did get Demise a while ago which I was stoked about.

I still think the 10 man T8 set for paladin is one of the best, I only have the 25 man from back in the day, but i really like the white version over the brown.

Agree on 10 man T8, I was working on that one. I also liked the ICC set but got so tired of looking at it.

My warrior still has the T1/T2 set in the bank, I don't even know why I kept it. Along with the Broodlord pauldrons (I think?)

Lets talk about optimal garrison building. Does anyone have a guide or plan for what they are doing and why? I have spent very little time on the topic.

toss that shit in the void storage, you can still tmog it directly from there. I didn't realize this until very recently.. my paladins bank was filled to the brim with old gear lol

I'm curious about this as well, i haven't looked too far into it.. but i think one building i'll be getting is an enchanting place so i can DE shit.

Large: Warmill, Bunker
Medium: Inn, pvp arena
Small: Enchanting, Storehouse, <not sure yet>

is probably what im doing though

I found out about the void storage my last go round, it's pretty much full now on my Pally heh. I too would like to learn more about garrisons. From the little I read you basically had no choice on it if you were raiding, all the more reason to level an alt or two I guess.

Since getting Followers to level 100/Epic/ilvl640 is very important for the chance at random raid loot before raids unlock, my initial week layout is going to be:
LARGE:
-Barracks [Patrol Missions are the highest exp per time follower mission, get dem followers to 100/Epic Quality]
-Dwarven War Bunker [Armor/Weapons for the Followers]
MEDIUM:
-Barn [BLOOD]
-Lumber Mill [Garrison Resources to build up to the 10k and get my random titles/epic followers]
-Lunarfall Inn [More followers, begin the grind towards treasure hunts]
SMALL:
-Enchanter's Study [Disenchanting]
-Salvage Yard [More armor/weapon upgrades for my followers]
-Storehouse [More Apexis Crystals]

Double Gathering Professions on my main, will level alts to 92-96 to get their profession buildings in their own garrisons.
