The servers themselves are fine...totally fine. Both yesterday and today it was smooth sailing for questing and shit. It's the queues that are just not improving. Stormrage is still a barrel of laughs at 5000+ right now - guessing the other high pop realms are on day 4 of queue hell. Who know how long it will take to normalize?

They were fine, but they aren't now. Whenever you change zones now it's "instance not found" for several minutes. I'm pretty sure this is some kind of in-game queue. They said something yesterday about changing the zones to be instanced like Tanaan, and it seems like they have exceeded the capacity of those instances and you get put in limbo until a spot opens up.

This is on Stormrage, lower pop servers may be less/un- affected I guess.

No it wouldn't. Grimdark isincrediblyoverplayed and tedious nowadays unless you're thirteen and listening to My Chemical Romance on repeat. You know why our characters can bowl through the portal and immediately start wrecking shit? We're just that good. We're not some newbie fresh off the boat from Durotar; we've killed elder dragons, demon lords, the Lich King, a fucking Dragon Aspect, and anyone else who stood in our way. Hell, we've returned two Old Gods to not-death and flat out killed for real a third...which is supposed to be impossible.

tl;dr - The Iron Horde came to the wrong neighbourhood, motherfucker.
This. I pretty much leveled up my monk from 1 to 60 today (go go bonus xp items) and for the first time in years I found the zone stories interesting. You legitimately rank up through the Horde in a questing since. Start out a grunt in Ashenvale, move up to Legionnaire at the end of Stonetalon and continue to do increasingly more "insane" things my the standards of the everyday Horde Peon Citizen. This is why its framed this way, you start out as shit, and become the elite adventurers of your faction. Its kind of cool in this way.

Also Alliance have been camping our god damn Lumber Mill in Gorgrond for like 3 hours... fuck those guys.

For my mining bros: there is a Treasure you can loot in Spires of Arak ontop of a mountain at 40.5 - 54.9 right outside of Admiral Taylor's Garrison that gives youPeon's Mining Pickwhich allows faster mining in Draenor (and also doesn't need to be equipped). However it doesn't appear to work in the Garrison mine.

Putting pvp vendor in an instanced battle zone that you have to queue for is a really great idea. Even better if your server is dominated by one faction Who the fuck thinks this shit up?

Not really into pvp myself ~ but stuff like that has been happening for ages now. Dark Ages of Camelot for example.

Started a new character and boosted them to 90 because I want to actually play the game... Kinda neat that it didn't give me all of my spells out of the gate. Just a couple at a time as I did quests and got the last handful unlocking my garrison.

Went to TI just for shitzengiggles.

More than 11,000 more DPS than the last time I was here.

Walk into big group of mobs, hit barrage...and laugh.

Are there any good forums for WoW anymore? Everything seems to be either idiotic mouthbreathers like MMOC and the official forums, or largely inactive like EJ. Where do people go for theorycrafting and serious discussions?

I asked that about a month ago, yet no one gave a website that was useful. I'm glad you bring it up again though - I'd gladly welcome a theory crafting forum into my bookmarks but I think people just depend on sim craft and noxxic now for their information. It would be cool to have it here - but I just don't think we have the type of forum for it anymore.

Wait... how did Admiral Taylor get to Draenor? How did he get to Arak? When did they build all these boats? Why was there a servant of the Legion by way of Ner'Zhul there, but before or absent the fact that Ner'zhul had yet to do anything involving the legion and had turned to the fallen Naaru for power instead?

WHAT IS GOING ON?

Basically now you go to a class specific forum if you want actual discussion. AlteredTime for mages, Totemspot for shammys, SacredDuty for paladins(tanking focus) etc. Sadly there doesn't seem to be one comprehensive forum like EJ used to be back in the day. If you just want to get your glyphs/rotation/talents/shit like that with no discussion then just use icyveins.

Unfortunately I couldn't make it to 100 yet, but I'm 98, so not too bad given the time I could spend online. I was lucky enough to do the first part of setting up my garrison on release night and thus, once I moved out of it, I could do all of SMV without issues, unlike those stuck in there for ages (which included one of my alts).
I liked SMV, I totally fucking loved Gorgrond and Talador and I'm really digging Spires of Arakk so far. Dungeons were ranging from crap (slagmines) to great (Iron docks) and doing Auchindon was very interesting.
Runs are very short, with me tanking even shorter, I can't wait to get to 100 and gear up in heroics. Five men content has always been my favourite.

I'm feeding my barn and my tannery work orders as soon as I can and sending my minions to do missions over and over, it sucks that they fail from time to time, but they level so slowly that it's getting me crazy, and sending a 91 minion to do a 95 mission ain't pretty at all. Can they level up in a different way?

I'll have to level archaelogy too one day, urgh...

On the good side I'm enjoying my brewmaster a lot, I can kill solo pretty much anything, but some risks are there even in the overworld (e.g. shattered hand orc rogues that use blade flurry can chop me up if I pull too many) and some elites are tougher than I expected. There is pretty much no reason to play Windwalker while levelling, Keg Smash hits so hard on such a short cooldown that I'm not missing nor Rising Sun Kick, neither Fists of Fury, also I'm hard as a brickwall and can self heal a lot more as BM than WW. I still swap to WW sometimes for the flying kick and to change a bit the style, but BM is a freaking monster. It slowed a bit at 94-95, where WW seemed to scale a bit better, but not by much and at 96 keg smash was still tearing mobs apart (I have a heirloom 2h weapon, mind you).

Rares, treasures and storylines keep me online more than it's healthy during the night, but fuck it, I'll survive for a couple of playing sessions. Jeez, this xpack is nothing short of amazing so far, I hope heroics and raids are up to this level.
The garrison is... a large list of to do things, it's pretty much mandatory to have at least one running all the time and multiples can only help, but I don't see myslef managing more than two of these without going nuts. I like it, it's kinda fun in a way and adds something more interesting to manage than a little farm, but I'd prefer if I could manage alts through a main instead of having to log them one by one and do chores (or a phone app in the future).

Now if they only would give me back my pre patch mistweaver, I'd be even more happy, but I think I'll stick to tanking this time around.

So here we have a ton of people who can't log in and/or barely play. On the flip side of that we already have people who have aces all the new challenge modes.

Warlords of Draenor - All Gold Challenge Modes Complete

I haven't played in a couple of years but between on the data mining and letting people play test this shit for months in advance it really makes the so called accomplishments feel cheap and hollow if they can be done so quickly. I know this is nothing new and people have been stomping content on Day 1 for a while but even so.

I've played pretty casually and am 98 already, thanks to being on a backwater server. On one hand, the questing is really painless this time around and I haven't had to upgrade any of my warforged stuff as of 98. I like that because ugh gear resets while leveling. On the other, This kind of content seems really outdated gameplaywise. I don't think I've died once yet or even come close. The whole notion of having to treadmill through these zones, but basically being cap before you've seen half of them, and then the remaining ones to go back to are 5 levels below you is just...eh. It just seems like so much effort put into content that you experience once and breeze through in a weekend before settling into the 100 groove.

Icy veins has guides that usually say where they come from. I then google that person/community and find their theory crafting.

Do not send followers on missions that are higher level than they are, unless you have no other option. If a follower is 1 or 2 levels below the mission, they will only get half xp. If they are 3 or more below, they get NO xp and their abilities and talents don't work. It kinda sucks when you have a bunch of 95-97 missions and you still have one guy at 91, but they will occasionally throw 91 missions your way and they will eventually catch up.
