Yeah I'm probably just going to end up ret. I love healing more than anything but it's literally garbage at the moment. I don't want to be able to heal for 100% of their HP every single cast, but I really feel like they went overboard with it lol. It's alright, give it another month and people will learn that they're not still in MoP. I hope at least.
I have to do a lot of self healing, but it's part of my standard playing to use guard/expel harm/chi wave and surging mist when I'm having a few globals away from the boss, I know healers can't keep up and I play accordingly. I pull after I use paralysis on a caster, usually a rogue/hunter/mage CCs something as well, without even needing to be told, the run goes smoothly and everybody is happy. Some healers are just bad, but you can pick them apart right away, as some dps that don't move from fucking huge and fucking bright lava pools on the ground, but once you start running heorics, it gets pretty clear who can make it and who cannot.
I can hold an intense pull, but there is no reason to make every pull intense.
P.S.: fuck hunter's barrage.
Any opinions on status of tanks in WoD atm? I got my DK to 100 and it doesn't feel quite right. I can't put my finger on it. Dungeons seem too chaotic for the AoE style, durability when stunned drops significantly. I am leveling my pally at the moment to see how that feels as well. I don't particularly enjoy druid tanking, at least in MoP. Never played a war / monk.
I am kind of spoiled by the DK because now every class feels painful to level in comparison. The only annoying part of Pally is I lose a lot of the open world nicety type stuff like path of frost w/ falling rune whenever I feel like it. Need to pay more attention when I am not on him.
In regards to followers, didn't know you needed 3 at 615 to move forward. I had been hoarding upgrades so I didn't randomly start overflowing with those missions. Will have to analyze my purples and get a team together.
Monks have to be played perfectly right now, purify often and never drop shuffle are just the basics, guard has 2 charges so I'm more liberal in its use and it helps a fuckton.
In heroics I have little problems, some pulls here and there, but nothing spectacularly hard, providing that everyone knows what to do.
The rest is based on a collection of tricks, for example if you play a brewmaster, remember one thing: if you ae stun a lot of mobs, their swing timers reset, so you should not stay there like a tool when the stun wears off or you'll be (almost) instagibbed. Generally speaking I'm having a good time tanking as a monk, I do also a truckload of dps which never hurts (I love chi explosion). I also use and abuse the new Ox Statue functionality: it's an agro magnet, it's almost an AE cc and it's incredibly good when grabbings spawning adds (they hurt *nobody*, not even you for a good while). Gotta be careful in placing it down when pulling, because it has a huge range. As an added bonus, if a mob is CC'ed long enough, the statue will keep building threat: had a mob in Skyreach that after a 1 minute CC, was beaten to a pulp and he never turned on anyone in the group because he was sooo mad at the statue that it was almost comical.
Anyway it's active mitigation, not passive, so the best players will be the best tanks, gear being equal of course. As I said I like to CC because in the end with my current gear I cannot AE tank everything all the time, so I prefer a 2 minutes longer run than wiping.
You have to consider that if everybody is doing 6k dps, there is no good tank that can take punishment forever, sooner or later it's going down.
EDIT: I got Croman the Barbarian yesterday, hah!
