Well, followers finally paid off. Got a645 epic two handerfrom a follower mission. Yesterday I failed a 655 raid level mission as well, so it seems once you get a bunch of followers above 645 item level, you can get a decent stream of gear from them.

because the opening segment basically 'saves' Azeroth.
It doesn't. It merely stops the current offensive. The very fact that Khadgar can open ("for a short time") a portal to Stormwind even with the Dark Portal closed shows that you can still reach Azeroth from Draenor. Leave the Iron Horde alone, and they'll rebuild a portal, find a fresh bunch of warlocks to power up the thing, and back to square one.

Semi-related question: is there really no reason to spend the gold/GR on upgrading profession buildings to rank 3? As far as I can tell, the only benefit is more work orders in the queue, which is pointless for now.
If it's for one of your professions, no. However, if you built one for a different profession, you need rank 3 to unlock the epic profession items on the vendor.

Yeah I'm probably just going to end up ret. I love healing more than anything but it's literally garbage at the moment. I don't want to be able to heal for 100% of their HP every single cast, but I really feel like they went overboard with it lol. It's alright, give it another month and people will learn that they're not still in MoP. I hope at least.
I have to do a lot of self healing, but it's part of my standard playing to use guard/expel harm/chi wave and surging mist when I'm having a few globals away from the boss, I know healers can't keep up and I play accordingly. I pull after I use paralysis on a caster, usually a rogue/hunter/mage CCs something as well, without even needing to be told, the run goes smoothly and everybody is happy. Some healers are just bad, but you can pick them apart right away, as some dps that don't move from fucking huge and fucking bright lava pools on the ground, but once you start running heorics, it gets pretty clear who can make it and who cannot.
I can hold an intense pull, but there is no reason to make every pull intense.

P.S.: fuck hunter's barrage.

Any opinions on status of tanks in WoD atm? I got my DK to 100 and it doesn't feel quite right. I can't put my finger on it. Dungeons seem too chaotic for the AoE style, durability when stunned drops significantly. I am leveling my pally at the moment to see how that feels as well. I don't particularly enjoy druid tanking, at least in MoP. Never played a war / monk.

I am kind of spoiled by the DK because now every class feels painful to level in comparison. The only annoying part of Pally is I lose a lot of the open world nicety type stuff like path of frost w/ falling rune whenever I feel like it. Need to pay more attention when I am not on him.

In regards to followers, didn't know you needed 3 at 615 to move forward. I had been hoarding upgrades so I didn't randomly start overflowing with those missions. Will have to analyze my purples and get a team together.
Monks have to be played perfectly right now, purify often and never drop shuffle are just the basics, guard has 2 charges so I'm more liberal in its use and it helps a fuckton.
In heroics I have little problems, some pulls here and there, but nothing spectacularly hard, providing that everyone knows what to do.

The rest is based on a collection of tricks, for example if you play a brewmaster, remember one thing: if you ae stun a lot of mobs, their swing timers reset, so you should not stay there like a tool when the stun wears off or you'll be (almost) instagibbed. Generally speaking I'm having a good time tanking as a monk, I do also a truckload of dps which never hurts (I love chi explosion). I also use and abuse the new Ox Statue functionality: it's an agro magnet, it's almost an AE cc and it's incredibly good when grabbings spawning adds (they hurt *nobody*, not even you for a good while). Gotta be careful in placing it down when pulling, because it has a huge range. As an added bonus, if a mob is CC'ed long enough, the statue will keep building threat: had a mob in Skyreach that after a 1 minute CC, was beaten to a pulp and he never turned on anyone in the group because he was sooo mad at the statue that it was almost comical.

Anyway it's active mitigation, not passive, so the best players will be the best tanks, gear being equal of course. As I said I like to CC because in the end with my current gear I cannot AE tank everything all the time, so I prefer a 2 minutes longer run than wiping.
You have to consider that if everybody is doing 6k dps, there is no good tank that can take punishment forever, sooner or later it's going down.

EDIT: I got Croman the Barbarian yesterday, hah!

So is WoD worth getting? I played up until early cataclysm and quit. I loved BC/WotLK but didn't really like Cataclysm. Came back briefly for MoP, played for a month or so, and quit again. I heard that WoD is the best expansion so far. So is it worth getting? And is there an FAQ or anything anywhere that tells what's new with the game with WoD or returning player info?
I think it's very good, best expansion since Wrath IMO. Questing feels right, treasures and rares scattered all over the place to break it up and garrisons are fun as well. I've never been that much into lore and story but with cutscenes and phasing, Blizzard had got it down to a science now. Is it the best expansion ever? Not sure if I'd go that far, depends on what they do for content patches but it's off to a good start so far.

The DK in general feels really good and in dungeons the healer has to be almost AFK for me to die. Blood DK's have so much shielding and so many cooldowns for different situations and the synergy with plague leech and healing is great. DW frost is very strong in DPS still, I only did a couple of dungeons as DPS but my single target stays around 18k with tank accessories.

@CM's Is there anyone interested in doing the daily CM's from other servers? I would like to add a few more people for DPS slots if anyone is interested I'm Horde. I've got the tank, cleric, and one DPS slot taken. Luxury#1795

I like this expansion, but it hasn't grabbed me yet.

I love the zone design though. MoP was sort of cool, but the zones were very blah to me. The zones in WoD remind me a lot more of Vanilla than anything else. Maybe a mix of Vanilla/WOTLK.

Not sure how it is for other classes, but my DK in fairly shitty gear + BOA 2h AXE I basically kill quest mobs in one or two hits.

I got this fucking amazing healer shield today calledDisc of the Third Moonand despite wanting to sell it for 90k.. I'm keeping it. I'm sure I'm not going to be replacing this shield anytime in the near future so HELL YEA. Although at the moment it seems there are no new shield enchants in the game that I can find?? wut

Like Miele said, you gotta be on the spot with brewmaster. Thing is, you also have *alot* of mobility. So when things get dicey, i can just roll away or instantly transcendance myself to safety to give my healer a few precious sceonds to bring my hp back up. They sure dont feel OP if thats what youre looking for but ill take this kind of tanking any day over a stand in same spot, pop chain of shield walls / yawn, kind of tanking.

Is there some reason people like posting a 200 stack of something 1 at a time on the auction house? I list 100-200 stacks of mats for for a higher prices than than those mass individual listings and they usually sell fairly quick. I'm guessing people are dumb, but maybe I'm missing something.

Default settings for a couple of the auction house addons do single item listings. Could be it. There's money to be made off of them every day. Reports of some herb janitors making 10k a night or so cleaning it up.

I've made a bit off buying stuff up with auctioneer, not near that much because I only go by the auction house once or twice a day. Seemed silly, but the default setting explains it.

Expect savage blood prices to see an increase now that farming apexis and primals at the pit got hotfixed the other day.

They dropped as low as 1.5-2k on Hyjal over the weekend, wish I'd picked some up but it looked like a losing investment. Draenic Dust prices went nuts, 30-35 per. They're still around 24 per.

So I've been playing again for about a month now after not playing for nearly 2 years. Maining my Shaman and thanks to the new dual stat loot I was able to easily/cheaply respec to Enhance from Ele. The RNG gods were with me when I put together my Valorous Earthshatter transmog in one night. Every piece dropped including a non-set matching belt. I wish I had that luck back in the day when those upgrades mattered.
I was devastated when I found out that the Dragonstrike hammer is no longer craftable. BUT! Then I found out there's a new version that can be crafted but requires 600 BS and god damn daily cooldowns. So I had the brilliant plan to level BS for the hammer. Once it's crafted I'll drop BS for Enchanting. I've got so much shit to DE that I've had to start mailing to alts for storage. I'm hoping this makes Enchanting go much quicker.

The hammer transmog I'm using now is from the Amphitheater event in Zul'Drak.

What item level you looking for? Proving Grounds gives a 610 and the Naaru quest in Nagrand has a 625 if you get the upgrade. Shitons of physical weapons from silver monsters too.

You can get some shitty 615 trinkets from rep.
I have 630+ in every slot, most of which I have replaced several times with 1% better versions, and I'm still using my heirloom bow and the 615 vendor trinkets. I run the dungeons that drop these every day.

With like 80 items on every bosses drop table I wonder if they fucked up the math somewhere for pooping out weapons and trinkets. Too bad none are on the final boss of any dungeon for hunter.

I ran only a couple heroics so far... had daggers drop from the last boss twice, and one was warforged. HIYOOO!

Yeah but I bet you want the same trinkets as me and fuck those things.

I do my daily, then I kill first boss of UBRS and quit, then run all of shadowmoon/auchidoun.

I think I have four warforged items and a bunch of sockets that I won't be wasting gold on.
