Oh god, The FUCK YOU I'M CASUAL
In their defense, this is who the LFR and LFD tools were made for. If you are a badass player which rolls his eyes at shit like that, you are more than free to set up your own guild, invite all the other badasses which play error free and then you can have your fun too, amirite?

I agree with EVERYTHING Kreugen wrote. I think that's why I'm realizing I've been playing with the same rough crew for about 7 years and they're all mostly former EQ people (I missed EQ thanks to doing my chem eng undergrad and grad school) or folks those people would vouch for that ended up alright. We have a few less good folks that take advice well when put to them logically and politely. We've just been really good at screening over the years.

Our typical approach starts with "are they an asshole?" No? Good. Now are they at least trainable? No? Boot. We're blunt but polite to the F&F folks that suck and do make efforts to help.

Until you can completely insulate yourself from those players by Blizzard actually making clearing 16 raid bosses cap your valor for the week, you are forced to deal with them when you queue LFR / LFD to cap valor in a fashion that doesn't require daily's

I've had a few bad LFR/LFD experiences, but the vast majority is able to complete the run with no total wipes. I mean goodness, I'm pretty sure half the raid never gets based the tornado-frogger phase of Bladelord and he still dies.

Maybe you guys just have a super scrub battlegroup or something ;p

LFR is hilarious. The mystified responses from people when you actually have 3-5 people who know how garalon works and it goes smoothly are amusement.

They need raiders doing lfr/dungeons forever for valor in order to ensure that experienced players are always around to carry the casuals, noobs and shit players.

Take away the need for valor and LFR would be 25 retards all pointing at the other 24 people and calling them the retards while wiping endlessly on the first trash pull. (see: LFR on a Sunday afternoon)

For example, in modern Everquest it is impossible to find a group competent enough to do any of the game's group/casual content because the experienced players completely ignore it - or at best blow through it all in the first week and then never touch it again. And then a few weeks later when someone complains about not being able to find people to do it, those same hardcore will shit all over them and call them noobs and bads and idiots and it was super easy to find groups and the content was a joke and blah blah repeat every expansion. See any posts from 'fucker' in the old eq thread. (as a result industrious multi-boxers make a living by doing the quests then selling the completion credit) A similar story can be told about nearly any MMO that is not WoW.

From a standpoint of pleasing the masses, what WoW does is ingenious. There are always people around doing the content because the high end players are basically forced to repeat it forever. From the perspective of high-end players doing fucking trivial shit FOREVER for valor points, it is a raging spiked dildo with "FUCK YOU" written on it.

I think they're just lazy and its a bull shit excuse. They're hoping you guys will kill it for them.

What's the old addage? 20% of the people do 80% of the work? Seems to hold up in PvE raiding, unless you're some kind of mega Voltron type guild made of the top 1% of players from the top 1% of guilds and funded my some middle eastern oil lord/prince. (Oh... and they fell off too, hm!)

LFR and LFD are legit sometimes, and other times make me want to punch myself in the face.

Oh, you're a Mage with over 470ilvl and you can too 40k for a dungeon? And when I mention your terrible dps, you get mad? Fuck that noise. It really does make me miss EQ a bunch.

I'm relatively new to WoW, played for 2 months in WoTLK, and about 3 months currently, and seeing people that bad that have played for years is crazy to me. However, there is no REAL community(unless I'm mistaken?) on WoW servers that you can meet other really good players. Hell, I'm not even good, I'm decent and I'm better than 95% of the people I play with. And all it took was me reading a website for what best Mage/Warrior rotations were.

Granted, I'm a more experienced MMO player than 95% of people ever will be, but shit, how hard is it to follow instructions :/

Definitely had this problem looking for arena teams after our druid quit in S6. I posted all over but no responses on a cross server 2200 orc warrior :p.

The ability to do RBGs/BGs with people from other servers is a step in the right direction and I'm sure it will be expanded upon in coming patches. I've got my eye on it.

get the mod Oqueue and bookmarkhttp://openraid.us(.eu for EU) both are great tools for x-server PVE and PVP. Both basically list tons of PVE and PVP events and give tools that let you form groups, I weekly clear H FL and DS with them for meta/mount/xmog, and it also allows me to do Sha on my ally alt on a different server, since my server is 99% horde.

No happy medium.
All these posts 1000 times over. These games really are setup so easily for a group of solid players to progress with minimal time investment. For years I looked forward to that happy medium, and for years I was certain I would find it. Finally, I just gave up. I know these guilds exist but I sure as hell haven't encountered them. It has always been mouth breathers or hard core.

I found the medium once. It was a "pub" Naxx run a couple of my online friends ran during WOTLK. Some were alts of hardcore players, some where just players sick of failing with their guild, and some were just picked off the street. Always did full clears with minimal fail. Every once and awhile, I get tells out if the blue regarding that.

Just to clarify, this was before Uldar came out.

I run a happy medium guild. We've had to replace a few immature kids over the last few months, but everyone that is raiding with us now are adults and on the same page in terms of "we want to do challenging content without the endless frustration of bad players and minimal time commitment." We're by no means perfect but we're 16/16 normal and 2/6 Heroic MV with only about 4 hours total in there (we spent a couple hours on Gara'jal sunday night and about 45 min on Elegon Monday night).

Our biggest problem right now is that people are just getting tired of the game. Had one dude blow us off all week. Up until the past week he was on all the time and never even showed up late let alone pulled a no-show. Mid-patch lulls suck.

Have any logs? I'm kinda wondering what I need to be pulling as a 489 DK. We are a 10 man guild, no heroics..

Personally I'm finding the game a tad boring now, I was doing dalies, getting coins ect...but lately I'm finding the game to be a boring grindfest with gate after gate that requires people to not huff paint in a world where huffing paint is the norm.

Even if it's low for ilvl, if 40k can get you through a heroic dungeon just fine, why even bitch about it?

I've flat out stopped playing, i'm sure a lot of other people are in the same boat. It's a shame because 2 people i played with through vanilla-wotlk just started up again, but i'm too burned out to want to do shit with them now :X

I just started playing again after buying MoP then not playing for months. Everyone I played with has retired. I picked a high pop server and started a fresh character. Left all my old characters and gold behind. Just trying to recapture the magic a bit I guess. I have 4 gold hehe. It's been fun so far.

I run a medium-sized guild, in total we are 4 guys (used to be 5, one quit) guys who know each other irl and then some new folks we picked up and some veterans I've been playing with for 4-5 years or so. We just hit 7/16 hc last night (full msv, blade lord) and expect to get garalon before this reset is over. I like it, we only raid twice a week and we've had a fairly strong player core, which makes it harder to try new classes because all the regulars show up for every raid. One quit out of the blue though, so it's back to recruiting a new ranged that hopefully doesn't suck.

I can attest to the fact that everything that was mildly interesting in the beginning (dailies, heroics, challenge modes) have slowly gotten boring. I still really like the dominance offensive quests since there's only 5 (well 6 if you're lucky) of them, they go fast and you unlock new story snippets all the time. But more dailies in the next patch? Fuck, I'm not even exalted with half the new factions yet, just give me a tabard that works in raids already :/

Raiding is still fun, really fun (except the game kind of forcing me to switch from brewmaster to prot pala in heart of fear due to blessing of protection breaking the mechanics ofevery bossin there. I think that if the guild fell to pieces, I'd probably quit and be bored

Been trying to play this ever since moving to the new house. I just can't get into it at all. WoW has always gone in fun / meh cycles for me, but my interest in the game has never been lower. For me, it just feels like the magic is completely lost. I also used to enjoy working on alts, and now with how obvious the valor grind is with upgrading gear, I just have no interest playing a game that is stretched out as obviously as possible to keep subs, when I already have a job and a home to take care of. Maybe I'll get interested again later on for the umpteenth time, but right now the entire feel of MoP just does not appeal to me at all.
