stop with the mindset that the only progression you have is gear and the game is a lot more fun. lots to explore, lots of secret stuff - 20+ rare mobs that each have a rare chance to drop a unique clicky, 35+ rare items across pandaria that are quite hard to get (im at 19/20), plus all the pet battle stuff and upgrading your favorite pets to blue/25, rare mount & pet farming, making piles of gold, building funky transmog sets, getting past level 5 in brawlers guild (fuck!!!), getting 2200+ rating in rBG or arena, etc.

yeah if all you focus on is getting the best ilevel you can, the game is boring as fuck. there is absolutely no reason to care about that though unless you are in a top100 guild, who gives a shit if your ilevel is 450 or 500, the only thing it has any impact on outside raiding is brawlers guild.

Seriously? You are on a hardcore gamer based site and you try to bash people for being a little obsessive about upgrading their gear while throwing the fact that they can collect more pets than ever and that should make everything ok?

It may a circular treadmill (get gear to beat raids to get gear to beat better raids) but the "obsessing about gear bit" is mostly about being able to contribute to the success of said raids. Nobody is playing just to watch their gearscore go up a point.

To be honest I feel MoP is a shitty expansion. I know it goes against what 99% of the press and WoW players will say but I'm sorry the gear path in this expansion is fucking STUPID.

NOBODY WANTS TO DO REP GRINDS. HOW MANY TIMES DOES THIS NEED TO BE POUNDED INTO MMO DEVS HEADS?

Forcing people to grind out a rep to even START another rep is re-fucking-tarded to the nth degree. I guess I made the shitty decision of not choosing a human for the rep bonus because now I have to grind out a shitty rep to get into the last tier of LFR or PRAY I get fucking lucky on a LFR and get 6+ pieces to put me over some stupid ilvl cap. I'm 200 rep away from shado-pan to get the gear I could use to put me over the ilvl req to enjoy the fucking game and now I have to either grind fucking justice points all day and upgrade gear I'm going to throw away the second I zone into the next LFR tier or play one night a week and finish my LFR. I refuse to grind out some shit reputation just to be allowed to get into a daily quest hub to get 1 fucking quest to put me into honored. They purposefully made it so you cannot possibly get honored with any rep by level questing through the area.

Fucking stupid design and to top it off the expansion is boring as fuck to look at.

I do agree that having to get revered with Golden Lotus just to start grinding the other stuff (August Celestial especially, where they dumped all the tradeskill shit), was idiotic. Makes it very alt unfriendly. Now I have to level my tailoring mule to 90 then rep grind with it ;/

Well, what else are they going to do? We all know how blizz pushes out new content.
I don't know? Maybe use their fucking imagination and create something new? I've been doing rep grinds since fucking Velious. Let's fucking move on already. I refuse to do them anymore and it's not my job to create a way to make people have fun in WoW. If they want to pay me Furor money I'll gladly show up and figure something out that's 100x more interesting than a god damn rep grind.

Oh, and does anyone enjoy farming? Do you log on for the sole purpose to work your shitty little phased farm? Probably not. I mean I could go on all day about how shit this new expansion is but I'll probably be burned at the stake eventually. I just don't get the love for it. The most fun I've had this expansion has been naming my pet dog Michael Vick and beating people in animal fights.

Honestly I'm interested to see how the DOTA battleground they are making is going to pan out. I -really- hope they actually make it like DOTA in that you don't play your character, you basically play a DOTA-style hero which you level up and you have limited abilities. Plus it will fuck over all the noobs with stupid 3rd party add-ons to help them PVP ;p

If this were anything but WoW, I'd respond by sarcastically saying "yeah, good idea, even more instances where you don't actually play your character, as if all the gimmicky vehicle bullshit isn't enough." But this is WoW, and we're way past that.

It would be nice to have some PVP that doesn't rely on how much resilience you have or what the OP FoTM PVP class is matched against you.

Vehicles are great. They are a superb way to weed out people who can't adapt for shit.

I think they were a neat gimmick when used sparingly in early WotLK. I think at this point, the frequency with which you are not playing your character is something like 20% during quests, instances, raids, whenever, and that's about 18% too much IMO.

The gear grind is boring as fuck, but most of us have been playing since at least EQ; we know that better gear means faster progression, means an easier time when you are seeing and beating all of the content.

This is especially true in MOP with the way everything is situated. Heroic mode raids means you squeeze out every drop of ilvl to progress. Where MOP fucks it up (And something that I've said twenty times and sorry if you're sick of it) is that it fucks up the cycle we're used to. Grinds fucking blow, but the people who want the gear have often been willing to do a certain amount for it, because better gear means more progression.

The mindset of most of this board is not being rewarded with gear (Although that IS a reward obviously) but in getting to beat everything up to date in the game. It is the means to an end, so saying hey, as long as you're ok not playing the way you've always played the game, the expansion is fun!

I'm finally done with all the reps on my main; I slugged through it, make actual appointments with friends/guildies to log in and do them so they didn't suck as much and took it slow. But i've been crafting imperial silk since very early in the expansion to make bags, and farming the mats for high end enchants. So my priest now has to hit 90, then grind golden lotus, then august celestials and shado pan for enchants + Bag recipe. Fuck alllllllll of that.

I'm just so sick of it all.

Even if it's low for ilvl, if 40k can get you through a heroic dungeon just fine, why even bitch about it?
I meant "can't do 40k". But generally speaking, if they are pulling subpar DPS for their ilvl, they are either 1. Not paying attention which can cause issues in some fights, 2. Just being fucking lazy, or 3. Terrible at playing.

I miss not having to worry about any if that from EQ days. But I deal with it all the time in WoW it seems. Hell just last night I out dpsed my entire group for an entire dungeon, and we wiped twice because of lazy shitty players. That's what annoys me is all

You have to admit that it's hilarious, though - watching people complain about 'the grind' in WoW then other people bitch in the "EQ Next" and "What now?" threads about how WoW is a game for ADD-riddled babbies with no timesinks or challenges at all.

Anyway, Blizzard has come to their senses somewhat on the 5.2 LFR and reduced the ilvl requirement from 486 (read: hope you've got BIS LFR gear) to 480 (read: hope you run LFR a few times) with a corresponding nerf to PvP gear ilvl down to 476.

Why is that bad? I'd rather have some variety then doing "insert standard DPS rotation" on my char for every damned encounter or activity in the game.

Just one of the many things that makes WoW less of a MMORPG and more of a mini-games lobby.

So the ability to spend Valor to upgrade gear goes away with 5.2. Interesting way of doing that, instead of segregating the new 5.2 items as flagged unupgradeable they just remove the NPC entirely.

This will certain lessen the grind for Valor, but I notice that I only barely meet the 480 ilevel requirement for the new LFR with my upgraded items. I'm guessing that this is being done to keep people running the 5.0 / 5.1 LFRs for awhile but I can see a point where a new level 90 is stuck unable to progress through LFR due to small populations running the earlier ones and no good mechanism to increase their ilevel to get to the next tier.
