You know, sometimes I have thoughts like yours Sacel, but then I think, when was the last time I had a GPF running Win7? The answer is: never. How many times did I have them back in the Win 9x days? All the fucking time. Sure, I'm nostalgic as hell for the "good old days", having to edit config.sys and autoexec.bat then reboot my computer whenever I wanted to run a new game, or rage at webpages with lots of images cos they took forever to load on my 56k modem, or having to fuck about with jumper settings when changing hardware. Then I think of all the good shit we have now: Steam with my 100+ games I can load without a restart, chuckling at Fedor's tranny pics and installing a new HDD by just sticking it in and plugging the fucker up.
Sure, it does mean that we're not as exclusive as we once were. I remember back in the day when the only fucking people on the net were geeks. I miss being one of only a couple of people in my class who could own a PC and keep it running (teachers included). And probably what I miss most is not having capitalised on that and gone into a tech career back when everything was new and fresh (I went into humanities. I know, stupid). But still, if I had a chance to go back 20 years or stay here, I'd stay here in a heart beat. As much as things such as FB and others piss me off the ability to load up NetFlix or YouTube or play a game with my friends without having to know each other's IP addresses or such is just such heaven.
