M74 is a large spiral galaxy 32 million light years from earth.

This is the result of 924 10 second exposures stacked and processed using Siril, Starnet ++, & GraXpert. Captured by a ZWO Seestar S50.

Funny thing about this one, in one of the 10 second stacks and airplane flew right through the picture, and now it's gone!

Found the one that had the plane in it. You can also see how much I cleaned it up vs the seestar app.

Fuck
I know, right?

Where were you 30 million years ago when the light for that image was transmitted so that it could be seen here and what has happened to that galaxy since that time?

I'm confused...are these compliments? A friend of mine told me I should sell this pic it looks so good. I don't think so but I did take it as a compliment.

It’s a compliment. I love seeing those photos.

Many, many years ago, when I was playing in an orchestra in AZ, and after a rehearsal of some of the prettiest music ever written, a friend of mine, the Concertmaster, who was also an amateur astronomer, took me out into the desert one night and he pointed a very large reflector telescope he had built, at various objects in the sky one after another. It was the most impressive demonstration I had ever seen. He knew where all these galaxies and stars and objects were and swung that telescope around for hours telling me all about the various things I was seeing; what they were, where they were, how they might have formed and when and all the while I was still hearing Mozart and Beethoven. If you didn't believe in God after that show, you just weren't paying attention.

I have a very different take on that but you do you man.

Get a SeeStar, it's only $500 , the hardest part of astrophotography is made piss-easy and it does decent pics. I started processing my own pics but the app does an 'OK' job too and they are always improving it.
