I picked it up during the sale and put about 10 hours in.

Holy shit is it a letdown. It's basically TQ with a new skin with all the problems, slog and boredom packed in. Where all the other grindfests try to switch it up, Grim Dawn just buckles down and throws more of the same on your head. Would you like an extra pack of undead thrown on your head randomly ? Here are 2 extra floors of this dungeon offering fuckall interesting ! Non-randomized world that takes zero advantage of that. Quests that are slog to find and do. Character creation that is the most boring at the start. Skill points that give you only stats (PoE avoids this by having all the actives easy to change) Death system that punishes you for not dropping a portal ever 10 steps, equivalent of quicksave spam. To even put this game on a similar level as PoE and D3 is an insult to both.

The good points so far are the constelation system (although I have a feeling you can't respec that, effectively fucking your character ?) and choices during quests, although I have no clue if they actually change anything. The way you can rebuild parts of the world so far seem neat, but again no clue if it really changes anything.

You can respect constellation and portion of skill point, but you cant change classes.

Pretty stoked for this expansion tbh, I was able to sink a solid month or two of gaming time into this before I got bored, and I never even bought the dlc or tried out a whole bunch of classes I wanted to explore.

In spirit of the the thread alerts I'm getting,I fired up this alt I twinked up. He's only lvl 65 and I'm still missing tons of stuff that just never dropped.



I can't even remember what I was scheming as far as constellation plans, or where all those shrines for em are. Prob gonna finish this guy up to have him ready for the expac.

I have a duplicate of that sword and some other crap if anyone wants or is around lvl 65 for some games.

Ya very useful, some of em are completely out of the way or ridiculous to find without some help but spoiler free is the way to be imo. Even if its something I used to know and forgot, I like exploring with pals and not following a check list.

Can't decide between Leviathan or Kraken for last constellation.

Prob Levi because of the whopping 20% cold and pierce resist. But Kraken hits like a BUS.

Any chance they did something that stops people from being able to just dupe shit and hack the game right? (not getting into another debate why that matters just a simple question!). Assuming that would require them to have games ran on their servers. Too bad it was a small time game that didn't have the same setup as similar games that you couldn't easily do that shit and i'd have probably been playing it this entire time as I liked it a lot more then D3 and similar games. I'd debate doing the expansion but just can't get over spending so much time grinding gear when its a simple click away.

Hmm odd when it was in beta the developers said that was a potential down stream thing depending on the success of the game so I'm not 100% sure it was a purposeful design vs a limitation of scope/budget. But to avoid displeasing your eyes i'll refrain from asking again~

To allow cheating is not purposeful design decision, it's just that it's bloody impossible to stop it, as long as the save files and servers are local.

The game and devs expressly allow and cater to mods, so it is a purposeful design decision.

Which is what makes turbo's point utterly insane. he is talking about mods. Literally every game on earth which as you say, is not exclusively online with serverside private info, has or is capable of being modded. Even mmos have private servers.

To be fair, their are trainers and you can use CheatEngine to hack anything, max speed, invulnerable, infinite skill points etc.

But his point is still retarded. "I can't justify grinding items when they are a click away." Just don't cheat if you don't want to? Pretend the hacks don't exist and you can play just as you normally would.

Listen you god damn kid, whatever tickles your pickle you go right the fuck ahead and enjoy it. However, for me it ruins the fucking desire to invest a significant amount of time when across the board cheating is a click away with no ramifications. I'm not ignorant to the fact any game with MP doesn't have cheaters but its much more limited. So moral of the story I could give a flying fuck what you think about what makes me enjoy a game or not, and the only thing that is retarded would be you thinking your opinion on the matter is worth the digital space you wasted typing it.

The thing is, there's no competitive ladder so who cares.

If there WAS a competitive ladder with resets (which I'd love), then I'd see your point crystal clear.

Take it from me, find some steam pals who ain't cheating in public games (there's tons). Game is amazing that way. If you find a steady crew to form 4mans out of, you will probably get every drop you need within a month if you gear share and hold onto drops for each other.

BEST PART IS: you don't need to make all these goofball Diablo 3 style support builds (nearly 0 dmg, nigh invulnerable with stunlock shit) to farm the highest level stuff efficiently as a party.

So did you never play NES and SNES games because Game Genie exists?

CheatEngine exists for like 75% of PC games. Do you never play those either?

Don't play Doom because IDDQD exists?
