You're way off there @Fucker a B550 can handle a 4x nvme drive, a 16x gen 4 graphics card, and 4x sata drives + gen 3 nvme or 2 more sata (via chipset not the pcie lanes). If you want a ton of drives or some add on cards go x570, otherwise B550 really is good for most people.

Price, features(# usb/m2/sata ports, wifi/lan speed, etc), build quality (vrm, bios, memory support for highend/oc.) If you don't really need anything special, can safely get any B550 board in the $150 range.

Prebuilts often have in demand cpu/gpu held back by some really cheap components. Slow ram can really hold back a Ryzen system. Should be ~20% fps loss when cpu capped between 3600cl16 and 3000cl17. More sticks would be limited to the same speeds, consider replacing during a sale. The tiny...

Not a fan of those charts; CPUs don't change in performance going from 1080p to 1440p, but GPUs do significantly. What's the ram and PSU? Make sure the ram is in the correct slots with XMP enabled when you get it, getting bad pre-built vibes. You should get a NVME drive too, you really don't...

    NVidia GeForce RTX 30x0 cards

It's overpriced vs the rest of the series in $/core, but it's now the best "gaming" cpu you can buy- so it sort of commands a near Intel level price premium. It is a better binned single ccx, clocks a little higher stock+overclocked. As pointed out a better bang for the buck would be from...

    NVidia GeForce RTX 30x0 cards

5800x has the highest $/core and a very marginal gaming performance over the 5600x. On the other hand it outperforms the 10900k at almost everything while using less power, for 150$ less. AMD knows it'll still sell out for a good while but yeah it should really be priced lower post release...

3600X/XT were a choice when the 3600 wasn't available msrp (most of the time...) Now, unless maybe if it's on sale+you using the not as bad stock cooler. At 250 you may aswell get a 10600K now or soon a 5600X for $ 300. @Quineloe memory needs a custom tune (maybe that's what you intended)...

That's gonna happen if you point the intake fans straight at glass. @meStevo if you're buying $1400 cards just upgrade the case to a O11-XL; also allows 2x 140 mm fans pointing straight into your gpu instead of an upsidown psu pulling air away.

Seems ~3600Mhz ram is staying near optimal, power consumption & TDP aren't changing very much if at all. So board, memory, cooling, and PSU wouldn't need an upgrade from Zen2. 5900x outperforming a 10900k at near everything, often using less than half the power, while being cheaper is a big oof...

That definitely changes when you have a well vented case. 3700x +stock prism + Meshify C with 2x 140mm fan ($10): 39C idle, 55C gaming, 72C stress testing. I set the case fans to go based on system temp so they ramp up slowly in gaming, but that took some trial and error in the bios.

Don't flip the PSU, it would be pulling air out of the same narrow alley your 3080 is pulling from. Never-mind the normal reasons not to. Check how hot cpu gets with an all core stress test, shouldn't get that hot in gaming even with the space heater below it .
  32. Axiel

    NVidia GeForce RTX 30x0 cards

As long as you don't overclock anything you should be fine. Better use two separate provided cables to power the 3080. Reference cooler blasts a lot of heat straight into the ram/cpu so if you're using custom memory turnings, they may become unstable, too.

To repeat a B series board amputates Intel's last remaining advantage, gaming fps. Now, if it's a good deal you could build a very cheap gaming system with oem level 2666 mhz ram and board. Some other downsides- no multithreading, gen4, or a decent upgrade path (9900K will never be cheap.)...

The right time is when your old pc no longer does what you want it to do adequately fast. Upgrading to a higher resolution/hz display changes that a little. There are surges in performance when new stuff comes out, there are also surges in pricing due to shortages (ie chinalabvirus.) If you...

HWiNFO64 is way more robust than anything else I've seen, overclockers and tech people all seem to use it. CPU temp is down in there. You can make it display what sensors you're interested in a small graph.
