SLI/Crossfire doesn't work in almost any modern games anymore. There's still some gpu based workloads that can utilize it, but it's long dead for gaming.

Since you have time to score parts, the x570 Tomahawk would be the absolute best in the $200 range. Yeah watch for sales, big deals can happen, got this for $69 on Christmas ($99 + 30$ rebate) https://www.newegg.com/evga-supernova-750-g5-220-g5-0750-x1-750w/p/N82E16817438162

Gotta say this often, you never need to fill the extra 12v cpu slot, the first one is good for 384 W. On the cheaper boards, the vrm would probably fail before the single 12v slot (extreme LN2 situations that hobbyists wouldn't do on a cheap board anyways.)

Make sure to not get that motherboard; its the one with vrms failing in basic reviewer testing, I believe. 650+W Power supply might be safer if you might ever get a xx80ti. 4000 series might also want faster ram, again. Always recheck pricing before you buy, lot of components getting prices...

9400F is a locked processor, so no oc, if you don't get a more expensive z series motherboard you're stuck at 2666MHz ram, which will get you relatively poor performance in games. 9400F currently costs $18 less than a R5 3600, and has nothing else going for it.

    3400G shouldn't be a consideration for gaming. If a 3600 somehow isn't cheap enough there's the 3300x.

Logitech might be the worst when it comes to this kind of problem. Even the most expensive models have the same out of spec Omron switches, just with a different plating that inflates lifetime in an ultra low humidity testing environment. If you can find a deal on something that meets your...

Below 14nm you probably need to be fabricating chiplets, in order to get acceptable yields. Intel really didn't want to accept that.

3090 should be the codename for the next Titan, the card that costs 2x as much with no real benefit in games. Both companies can pump out a comparable level of performance, even if AMD has completely balked on two generations of high end. If AMD doesn't put out a good high end card this gen...

Been trying to tell people this since getting a 600 dollar (refurbed 400 cause Scottish blood) dream monitor ~4 years ago. I know at one point in time getting ips+144hz etc was fiction, but people should have figured this out quicker. Giant ass smart tvs being affordable should start cluing...

Yeah old standards can't work with huge resolutions at high refresh rates, and including it would still add to the cost of a video card. Should really get a DisplayPort 1.4+ or or HDMI 2.0+ cable, not an adapter. You'd have to be using a CRT monitor or something stupidly ancient to not have an...

I made almost the exact same upgrade, 2500k - 3700x, 8gb - 32gb, a 1TB nvme drive, and the same gaming plus board. At least the dangerously low quality msi mounting brackets aren't used with liquid; but for that much money you could get a 3800x and a fat noctua cooler with it's own brackets...

3700x is defiantly not an overclocker's cpu. There's no way right now to change single core boost clocks while manually oc'ing a Ryzen. Combine that with the fact that Ryzens at stock boost themselves based on temperature (and other factors) at every ~5C, has heavily reduced oc gains. A...

Wouldn't recommend being a first adopter if you haven't built a new pc in a long time. 4000 series will be a bit more expensive and will sell out minutes after shipping for months. Many of the b450 boards won't get the needed bios updates for a while, if ever, to support it; and the ones that...

If you haven't been following tech news the 3600 is a budget cpu from 2019 that is very, very, good. To the point there's limited reason to buy a more expensive cpu for any existing pc games. You should notice a hefty improvement from an ancient quadcore. mATX can mean less connectivity (usb...

You could wait for Big Navi vs RTX3000 gen, if you don't mind slumming it at 1080p 60hz for another year. Should be some big past due price cuts by then. As long as you don't witness 2k/4k at 120+ 'til you're ready to get spending, you might make it.

You're at $286 on a 6 thread processor, and at 4k/60hz there's no real Intel advantage; gpu is all that matters. I'd tell you to get a 2060 ko and upscale with dlss but like 5 games support that. 4k gaming is expensive; 2070S is still going to struggle at many new games, 2080S/ti offers...

If you're not overclocking, an Intel cpu with a liquid cooler doesn't make much sense. Liquid cooling doesn't really help for longevity due to having extra long term failure modes (pump, seals, two fans, gunk buildup.) What monitor are you using? If it's 1080p consider a 1660 super for now...

Bad contrast, colors, darks, and angles are inherent to TN. TN will continue being made and even improved well into the 2020s as it's responsive and very cheap. However gaming oriented IPS panels have been somewhat affordable since at least 2016. Unlike extra resolution and high refresh...
