I would fire Rex and the GM and bring in a whole new staff. Then you let them draft a QB and let Sanchez compete for a year. I'm not predicting it or anything but it's entirely possible Sanchez is salvageable. Look at Alex Smith with Harbaugh.
That would be great but the QB draft crop and free agency for next year is shit. Keep Sanchez, shitcan Tebow and start McElroy. The Jets offense just needs a complete overhaul.

Apparently, Tebow wants a trade or release if the Jets start McElroy for the final two games. Win-win IMO.

Clearly Brad Johnson and Trent Dilfer were monsters.
I remember the Skins last division title...Brad Johnson threw for 4000 yards that year, 24 TD's 13 picks. Pretty solid numbers back then. Then Jeff George happened. No one ever would confuse Johnson with "elite" but he wasn't bad by any stretch either.

One thing concerns me a bit.

When Tebowmania was big, people talked of course about McDaniels drafting him but I also recall hearing local radio talk about how Belichik was interested in him too. Now that they're both together again... you don't think... horror of horrors... they'd pick him up and stick him behind Brady a year or two and then use Patriots magic on him to turn him into... somthing...

No... no... I can think no more on this horrible subject! Madness! MADNESSSSSS!!!!!!!111

Jeff George also had a 4000 yard passing season. So have some other amazing guys like Majkowski, Scott Mitchell, Neil Lomax, Elvis Grbac, and John Kitna even has 2 or 3 of them.

True, but it's about the only thing they have in common with Johnson. Combined that entire group has 2 playoff victories, and not a one of them accounted for enough wins as a starter on their own to win a division title, while Johnson did it twice.

In an effort for fairness, what did the team ever do for Sanchez? Offensive line is a turnstile. Running backs are mediocre. Receivers are nobodies. The only benefit he's really had lately is the D and this year that has been far from enough. He was serviceable at least when he had a good team around him. Not every team can have a top five or even ten QB, there's just not enough of them to go around at any given time. You have to build something that works around the guy you pick, and the last couple seasons they have totally failed to do that.

any source for this? Tebow needs to shut up and hope and pray (sic!) that he's still allowed in a players locker room next year. No team is gonna trade for him unless he can somehow be turned into an average and predictable RB which he has pretty much been when he's been on the field. Jets is the last stop for him. The thing is that novelty runs out pretty fast in NFL. Just like wildcat was figured out, so was Tebow. Teams just need enough tape and in Tebow's case not even that much tape. Hell, even look at Cam Newton and he can actually throw. I'm not even gonna talk about Vick (he's done). Latest in the line of running QB's is RGIII who, surprise, surprise, is injured. If RGIII continues to run like a lunatic, he's gonna have a short career as a starting QB. Not because of his abilities but because of injuries That's the problem when QB's get out of the pocket to run. They get hit and get hit hard. I'm thinking the fad of having "gimmicky" QB's is coming to an end. Run is a powerful weapon for a QB (just look at Rogers) but you can't build an offense around it. Anyways what I'm trying to say is fire GM, fire Ryan, trade/cut Sanchez and cut Tebow (his jersey sales numbers have paid for the joke, time to move on)

So NFL AM posited the question: Would the Jets be interested in Alex Smith or Michael Vick for next season? I think Alex is a better fit for the Jets ground and pound but they still need to get some actual offensive talent. Vick is just Sanchez 2.0 with all those turnovers. The Jets don't have the Philly receiving corps of DJax, Maclin, Celek or a Lesean McCoy quality running back.

If I think real hard the one thing Vick could do, if directed, is if the throw isn't there... pull the ball down and run with it. To really make Vick they'd have to shore up the OL, add a legit #2 receiver and find an rb or 2 that can catch passes out of the backfield, block and run. The other thing they need to do is fix that Jets run D. Replace the loss of Cullen Jenkins and get that D back to the 2009/10 form.

I'm not Jets fan but I do like Rex Ryan. He's always entertaining.

Edit: Obviously the other consideration with Vick is how long will he be healthy?

If he was interested, my guess would be that he would've put him at FB, RB, or TE. We've seen how he's built the TE position, and it's possible that that's what he had in mind with Tebow (although Tebow isn't that tall).

I think there's a very good chance Tebow ends up in New England. One, there would be zero chance anyone would dream of calling for them to bench Brady for him. Two, Brady, Belichick, and Mcdaniels could spend a lot of time working on his fundamentals and teaching him. Plus, if they want they can go the Julian Edelman route with the guy.

I actually think this is by far the best option for the guy. Tebow is what, five years younger than Weeden? Over ten years younger than Brady.

I don't know what'll happen with Sanchez, but my gut tells me Rex Ryan will still be with the Jets next year and Sanchez will still be his QB, unless Seattle gets NY to eat 3/4 of his salary and trades Matt Flynn for him.

Tebow in NE wouldn't be all that interesting though. It's Tebow's best bet but I honestly don't think his mechanics are repairable. If they were, the guys he's had coaching him the last few years would have made some improvements. Instead, he's still the exact same qb. He made almost no improvement the whole season with Denver right?

The most interesting thing for Tebow drama to continue would be if McDaniels got a HC job somewhere else and brought Tebow in to be his starter with an O built for him.

As for Tebow changing positions... He's so slow what does he play other than FB? He could be a blocking TE that occasionally catches a ball but he couldn't get separation nor does he have the height to consistently outjump anyone. He could possibly be a 3rd down back or short yardage guy. The only other position I could see him playing is maybe Linebacker but that's so different from anything he's done there's probably not much point even mentioning it.

Sanchez has to go. Somehow they have to find a way to get him off that team to make some improvement somewhere.
