Do we really need to sit through dozens of pages of Romo talk prior to next season starting?

This is a terrible draft class for QBs, and does anyone really think Alex Smith / Matt Moore / Chad Henne/ Ryan Fitzpatrick are going to beat out Romo for the job?

He's the QB next year, there will be no real competition, maybe the team implodes and you draft someone high in the 2014 draft, but do we really need to hear it for ANOTHER CALENDAR YEAR until that point?

Now that the regular season is over:

AFC
It was odd how the AFC segregated itself into the haves and the have-nots so early on; of the non-playoff teams, only Pittsburgh could hit even 8-8. (And I do mean have-nots; the first three, and nine of the first twelve, draft picks go to the AFC.) And as we went down the stretch, even the playoff teams started to segregate, with Broncos (especially at home) and Patriots the clear playoff favorites and the others merely spoilers.

NFC
Much more of a mixed bag in the NFC, as the Bears went 10-6, and the Giants went 9-7, and still missed the playoffs. The playoff picture is far muddier too, though both SF and Atl have solid home records against the rest of the field. Most of the draft picks are in the middle of the 1st round.

Who do we think is out for coaches? I will say that if the Jets get rid of Rex, it won't be tomorrow; Lovie Smith would go down as my most likely 'surprise' firing (who knows if Emery, who just started this year, will want to try something new).
Edit: Clearly Reid, Turner, Crennel, & Shurmur are gone. I'm wondering more out of the maybes who you each think will get tossed (Munchak, Mularkey, Ryan, Whisenhunt, Schwartz, Gailey).

I dont see why Lovie would get fired.

He put together a monster defense this year and won 10 games in the toughest division in NFL.

Is it bad that I want the Texans to get smashed by the Bungles so that maybe, just maybe McNair will fire Kubiak? While I think Schaubface lacks the heart of a champion, if he's being fed the same unoriginal and predictable plays, it's not really his fault that the Houston offense is a stagnant turd.

With the team the way it is now, I say, fire Kubiak and roll the dice on a new HC (anyone other than Norv). Emphasis on roll the dice. I would rather roll the dice than sit and watch the Texans grind away with the same game plan, week after week, and hope the other side didn't watch any tape on us. I can't fault Wade because of the injuries, especially Cushing and Reed, and because his father makes excellent sausage. Keep Wade on as DC and see if Jay Gruden wants to get a raise and out of sunny Cincinnati for our OC or even give him a shot at HC.

Hmm, who to root for in the playoffs? I kinda want to root for Peyton, but as a citizen of Utah I have an unbridled hatred for Denver, so that's a problem. I'd definitely root for the 49ers had they not benched Alex Smith, but since they did, I hope they never win another game as long as I live. I'll be in DC for the duration of the playoffs, so that's an option, but... Dan Snyder?

Tough decision. Kinda leaning towards Seattle or Purple Jesus.

You don't start 7-1 and then miss the playoffs. You don't lose two games to the pack and a must win against the vikings. You sure as hell don't go 19-39 against teams with a better then .500 record over the course of your tenure. Fire his ass and fix the offensive line please.

edit: Emery was also told he'd have to at least keep Lovie for this season if he wanted the job. He has given no indication that he is a fan and I won't be surprised if they do fire him.

This is pretty much where I'm at. In the AFC I have the teams I despise(Balt, NE), the team I will despise the next time they beat my team(Cinci), and 3 teams I really don't give a shit about.

NFC I have learned to hate SF and Washington based on posters here. GB I hate because of the Super Bowl and Radahr's douchewaffle butcher. Atlanta still has an NFL team, right? Whatever. So I pull for AP to truck fools and Seattle to do something basically. Although the second 4 "lifelong" Seattle fans appear I will flip instantly.

Seattle has Beef Moe who led a 7-9 team to a playoff victory over the Saints. Seattle has a CB who defied the ginger hammer by winning his appeal. Seattle also has the board schadenfreude bonus of if they win then Elurin will post paragraphs of stats about how Russel Wilson doesn't deserve any recognition.

I'm hoping for another epic hateful preview of the wild card round sometime this week, Grimm.

Bengals in a mega upset over Texans as Schaub's confidence ebbs at an all time low and a hungry Bengals team ekes out a win against a floundering Texans team.
Colts in a close victory over the Ravens
Vikings unable to duplicate Week 17 heroics and ultimately falter to the Packers by at least 2 scores.
Seahawks over the Redskins as Wilson exploits Washington's god awful secondary.

The Bengals can definitely make a run. After starting the first 1/3 of the year at like 30th in total defense they have climbed all the way up to sixth, and that big of a jump means that the defense has been playing out of their minds the second half of the season. Yeah, they are among the leaders in sacks but those sacks don't typically come from blitzes. The Bengals get an unreal amount of pressure from a 4 man rush and are perfectly happy to drop 7 into coverage. I believe that of the AFC playoff teams the Bengals match up very well against nearly all of them. I think Denver is the worst for them, but even then it's not bad. They played a reasonably close game earlier in the year, but both teams have undergone considerable maturation since then. I think they match up spectacularly against the Pats, but then you've got fucking Belichick vs. Lewis which is just awful.

I'm not going to be shocked at any outcome for this Bengals team, but I think they at least finally notch a playoff win. The Bengals have been very good lately at taking away what the other team wants to do on offense, so the Texans can't just hand the ball to Foster. He'll get his yards, but Schaub is going to have to beat them - while under pressure and facing heavy coverage.

I just remembered, Bengals went to Houston for the wild card round last year too.
