Now that I see what the full cap numbers are for the dolphins , I'm in shock . I understand you would have to over pay here and there . But why not balance your cap hits evenly ? I mean , seriously 43 million for 5 players next year ??? Holy shit . We wont be making any major signings next year . On top of that , we might lose some more players . Highly doubt Starks gets tagged again .
Don't forget we will have 7 picks in the first four rounds of this years draft. It's a deep draft this year we need to make it count. That should keep costs down for a few years if we hit on most of these players, and that hopefully leads to less reliance on free agent needs for next season.

After 2014, TV revenue kicks in which will raise the cap quite a bit more than the past few seasons.

Wallace as painful as it is, had to be done if we hope to fix this offense. The other two big cap numbers for next season isn't a big deal. Dansby cap hit was through the roof next two seasons so we actually gained cap space by bringing in the two new LBS. Just have to hope these guys can produce because Dansby was a very productive guy on this team.

Final details on Bush, he's in Detroit for 4 years at 16 million. I'm surprised he signed on for 4 years honestly.

Love this move for the Lions. He should wreak havoc in check downs with that offense.

Years really don't mean a whole lot in the NFL these day's, it's all about the guaranteed money.

For those commenting about the money being thrown around, it's a side effect of the salary cap floor being put into affect this year. I think teams have to use up 90% of the cap. So that's where stupid contracts come into play.

AFAIK:
1) This is the first year where every team individually has to spend 90% of the cap, or 110.7 million. (Barring exceptions like Washington and Dallas.)
2) That spending minimum's "due date" isn't until the end of the season. Teams could also spend that money on contract extensions at the end of the year.

e.g. Green Bay doesn't need to spend a ton of money signing Greg Jennings now; they could use that money on Aaron Rdogers or Clay Matthews extensions later in the year.

The larger point is that, yes, a lot of "bad" deals are being made this week. There always are. The new salary floor rules don't necessarily encourage it either way (those teams could pay people a more reasonable 1 or 2 year contract now and then give them a contract extension later this year and still hit the floor).

There's talk we are trying to bring him on here. Might end up that we switched LB's, then we can see who should have kept who.

I was hoping the Dansby to Minn rumor had some legs but haven't heard anything in a couple days. Dudes supposed to be pretty weak in coverage, right? But shit, we played Jasper Brinkley all last year. Can't get worse than that.

Do not want. I always root for whatever team Dwight Freeny is on to do well because I loved watching him at Syracuse. However that will not be the case anymore if he goes to New England (and subsequently injures Ryan Tannehill).

Excellent now we can finally get the secrets of the high powered Jets offense.

That is the issue with Dansby, he's lost a step, but the guy is a tackling machine. Rock solid run stopper. The league is so geared towards passing though now it kills his value, unless your playing the Vikes....From the few video's I've seen on Ellerbe, he doesn't seem like the best pass defender either, but showed explosiveness on blitzes.

@Famm Dansby on the Ravens, with Ngata in front of him...might get 130 tackles. Maybe more. He still has some games left in him.

What's your opinion on Ellerbe? Outside of the playoffs, I really didn't see many Raven games last season. Had Boldin on my fantasy team, but traded him away after a slow start so they were really off my radar.

^ Seriously though, 130 in a system that is new to him? I'll give you the 'maybe'. But not the 'maybe more'.

In other news, I read rumors of Urlacher being traded from the Bears to Minnesota? Holy fuck, that would really piss off a fan base. Anywhere but Minnesota.

You could be right about the system change, but he's a smart guy. He had 134 combined tackles with us last season. Not that far fetched.

Also, I laughed.

Cowboys fans who want a new QB are fucking delusional. Dallas had probably one of the worse QB situations in the league before they unearthed Romo, and when hes gone, you can expect a similar dearth in talent. The Cowboys failures are not all on Romo. I know its a tired discussion, but it is amazing at how much hate Romo gets when that defense is laughable at times. Not to mention the special teams.

I think you gotta squeeze every last drop out of Romo and have a young guy in place before you let him go. Either way tat team is fucked till Jerrah dies, sadly. Its almost like those 3 super bowls were a curse in disguise. His early success led him to believe that he had everything figured out, and that approach has haunted that team for almost 20 years now.

I don't think it is so much Romo hate as it is is America's team hate. He is the QB tho so thats where most of it gets directed. On top of that, he is just an average QB.

Not saying he is better than average. (well technically he is, but for the sake of this argument he isnt) Just pointing out that he isnt the sole reason the team isnt getting to, or winnng in the playoffs. If you threw in another "average QB" with that same Dallas roster (say, Sam Bradford or Josh Freeman) would they fair any better? I would wager they wouldnt.

People just point to his fumbled hold (why the fuck was he holding for the kicker anyway?) or his 5 pick games and everyone usually just nods in approval and piles in. Except that defense is fucking horrible and Ryan got fired for a reason. Then you factor in how bad Jason Garrett is at coaching and you have yourself a bad team.
