As a Patriots fan, I wish i could post up some pictures of my team's star tight end hitting it hard in the gym so that he's healthy and on the field. You know, the one that was out for the super bowl last year and sitting next to Kraft in the box for the AFC championship game this year. Alas, this is the only offseason news on him so far.

Whats crazy, as a Niner fan, is our QB situation looked bleak not even 10 months ago. When I say it looked bleak, I mean long term. Alex Smith was playing well but I think most fans were smart enough to realize it was a short term solution. Keapernick lingered but I dont think ANYBODY knew he was going to be a starter so soon, nevermind a STAR.

Think of it, he ran the pistol and most NFL GM's and scouts pegged him as a guy who would struggle when defenses forced him to throw in the pocket so he wasnt really recognized as someone who was going to take the starting mantle and run with it. Maybe they would flirt with him from time to time and see what they had, but most outsiders and fans were still thinking the team had to find their guy of the future. Low and behold Kaepernick emerged when Smith got hurt, and now gives the Niners their first real QB since Young.

I would only take Rodgers, and Brees over him from what I have seen thus far. Not saying he is better than everyone else, but from a long term standpoint, I wouldnt want anyone else on my team besides those 2. Thats fucking crazy when you think about it. If you redid the 2011 draft Kaepernick goes ahead of Newton IMO.

Might want to taper those expectations man. How many times have we seen a new QB get off to a hot start and once the tape reveals itself, he gets figured out and goes to shit?

I'm not trying to shit on your parade, honestly. I just think you need to realize there's not even a full season of tape on him yet. Defenses will figure him out, it's just a matter of whether or not he can progress to all the things you need to do as a professional QB (reading D, audibles, baiting safeties, making "ALL THE THROWS," etc.).

The only thing that bothers me about the article is that they're calling that move a bodyslam.

Where is the journalistic integrity? They should do their research and properly call it a DDT.

Yeah, I'm not saying he is infallible. But he has shown great promise. He was a play away from winning a Super Bowl after his special teams and defense dug a 22 point hole. The guy has played comeback ball the whole playoffs and almost succeeded every time. He scored a 37 on the Wunderlic, and I'm pretty sure he has the ability to make reads and remain calm under pressure. SO the only question is will he stay healthy and will he learn to go through his progressions and develop more arm talent and achieve better touch on the ball.

He can sling one in there, or hit a bomb (Vernon Davis should of caught that late ball) and has shown it time and time again. He just has to get better at hitting the short outs and completing the tough balls like fades (-_-) and quick outs. I agree with Gilg and thinks he challenges for an MVP. If he plays 16 games I believe he runs for 900 yards and passes for 3000 yards and accounts for 38 - 40 TD's through the air and on the ground. He should easily challenge Cam Newtons QB TD record and should continue to account for 80% of the teams offense. (will go in the top 10 of most fantasy drafts as well)

He just needs to be able to play with a fucking lead for once. Him playing down and defenses containing him has taught him a lot this past year. Only problem is they couldnt bring it home.

Your corners really fell apart late, I feel. I could be wrong, it could've been a whole combination of things (I know your safeties like to peak), but it seemed like your corners were getting abused.

And that's what I'm talking about, specific throws. Those fades at the end of the game were just depressing.

I didn't know that about his wonderlic, though. I figured he'd was just another taco eating legumer.

He was adopted by a whitey, McWhite family from Wisconsin. Otherwise, he probably would be another taco eating legumer.

Culliver and Brown are really the only corners that have been consistently fucking up. Especially Culliver. I'm hoping it's just his age and not the fact that he's a complete bust, but the dude is horrible at predicting routes. Rogers didn't have the year he had last year, but he wasn't really getting targeted at all, which I tend to blame on the fact that he had his man covered up most of the time.

I think our biggest issue on defense wasn't as much our corners, but our complete lack of pressure up front. Even the best corners in the league can't cover receivers forever. As soon as Justin Smith went down and then continuing after, our pass rush was almost non-existent. I don't know if it's because guys were tired or what, but it was horrible. Aldon especially. It's as if he became lazy. Watching him, he'd go in with an initial rush and if he couldn't get pressure almost immediately, it's like he'd just stop and stand there. It was painful to watch.

Our defense has the potential, hell we were the number one defense for a good chunk of the season. However, toward the end we just completely stopped executing. I don't know if the coaching, conditioning, or what exactly is to blame, but it needs to get fixed in the off-season. Now that the offense is more dynamic, if the defense can return to its 2011 self, I have no doubt we'll be right back in the Superb Owl.

Brown was actually the best defensive back on the team by a lot according to profootballfocus. The real weak links were Donte Whitner (surprise surprise) and Isaac Sopoaga was one of the worst rated NT's in the league. He's a FA though so hopefully they let him walk.

Culliver wasn't just fucking up in the Super Bowl, he was being lazy as hell. Saw him give up running people down multiple times, and I think he was the dumbass who jumped over the Ravens receiver instead of falling on him, and then gave up trying to chase him down.
