I don't follow college ball but the couple articles I read all seem to think Smith is going to be the best QB on the market this year. Sounds like the college prospects are not to great.

And to Disp, I might not be against getting Smith, but I'd sure hate to give the first rounder for him.
Whoever gets him is gonna give up either a 3rd or a 4th +. No way he goes for better than a 3rd though, unless he goes to a team that's desperate for a QB like the Bears or Jets.

I can't wait for Flacco to get his 100m+ dollar contract and then watch as he completely shits it up. It was pretty obvious after the SB that all he cares about now is getting paid.

Sore loser much? If I won a SB, I assure you the only thing I'd care about was getting paid. There is absolutely no guarantee what the rest of his career is gonna bring, so he better milk that win for every cent he can.

This is such a great post. The subtlety behind it is fantastic.

It wouldn't even take me a SB win to go into "pay me" mode. I'm just saying, Ravens fans are delusional if they think that his attitude is going to equate to any long-term success.

The Ravens defense is old as hell and they are going to have to overpay Flacco to the point they won't be able to upgrade other positions.
The Steelers defense is old as hell and their offensive line is garbage.
The moons have aligned and it is the time for Mike Brown to awaken from his slumber and Bengal the Bengals.
The Browns are next year's AFC North division champions. Deal with it.

That all sounds legit. I for one welcome our new Brown overlords.

Also, I always read your name as Lead Ass. Like, the metal Lead, and then ass. Just thought you should know.

Yeah it was my automated EQ name, I don't know how else it would be pronounced honestly haha. I used the surname Steelballz for a couple years until I was finally reported. Oh NFL thread, um Tebow > Romo because playoffs.

It seems like Boldin is worried he is going to get cut by the Ravens. He didn't have a very good season, but since the Offense change he has been fantastic. I think it would be stupid to cut him, but they need money room for Flacco.
My speculation on things:

They will extend Boldin out a few years and keep him.

Joe will average out somewhere in the 17-18 per range, huge signing bonus and high back end salary figures. Similar to the Brees deal. The cap is almost flat for '13 and '14. Joe knows it, Ozzie knows it. His contract number will make headlines but it won't be the immediate ball buster people will think it is. His '13 cap number will probably end up in the 8ish million range, which is fine.

Reed will probably be allowed to test the market. Given the Colts are significantly under cap and the Cheats also have space, he will get some interest. Nobody is going to break the bank for a 34 year old safety with a neck impingement and labrum issues, though. 6-7 mil for a couple years is probably the high end of his market and at that price, he may as well just stay here.

Kruger, McKinney, Cary Williams, all gone. Don't care.

Leech is a question mark and while they want him to stay, he's going to have to restructure and extend. Iffy.

Ellerbe will be resigned unless someone gives him a ridiculous offer. He has a history of injuries so, who knows.

About half the teams in the league are strapped right now so all free agents are going to be stuck in a buyers market for the next couple years. It will be interesting to see if a guy like Kruger can parlay his youth and recent good play in the playoffs to an obscene contract. In my book, he will probably be the one guy that cashes in and gets an overvalued contract from someone else.

Edko I know McKinney has had weight issues, but you don't think you might want to bring him back after the reshuffle on the O line late in the year? Really made a difference in the pass protection for the playoffs giving Flacco all that time to be successful throwing the ball.

I think the reason the Oline waited to late to reshuffle was because McKinney cannot stay on the field for a full season anymore.

I'm surprised you don't care about Kruger, I thought he was one of the best players on that D.

Problem is isn't Kruger asking for a lot of money? I heard something in the range of $9 million a year

I'd rather have Kruger than Suggs at this point. I wish the Titans would sign Ed Reed, we haven't had a competent safety in forever.

Pollard is going to look awful without Reed behind him - Reed's the only reason Pollard has the chance to line guys up like we're use to seeing.

The reason McKinnie finally got on the field is that those were literally the last five healthy o-lineman left on the roster. I wouldn't mind bringing him back but he might want more money since he's underwater in loan shark hell. It proved without a shadow of a doubt that Oher needs to stay on the right though. With a franchise LT our line would be looking good. Assuming our second year center doesn't turn out to be a bust.
