OFFSEASON CHAMPIONS! DREAM TEAM I TELL YA!
Heh they've spent like $15 mil. total for this season on 8 or 9 free agents and trades who are all just depth besides Boldin and Dawson. If nothing else, Nnamdi is probably better than Perrish Cox and Tramaine Brock, the 4 and 5 corners.

Not scheme, Nnamdi was fucking terribad last season. Pacman Jones part II.
Pacman Jones was good last season you fucking inbred.

LOL, look here fatboy slim - that list has Newman a few spots below Pac... on the same team. Get it together son. Pacman hasn't been Pacman for 5 years. Grats on getting a washed up CB at cut rate prices.

The list is from Profootballfocus, dipshit. Pretty sure they're better at evaluating players than you.

Edit: Not saying Nnamdi wasn't bad last year, because he was. Jones wasn't bad though.

No he wasn't bad - but he was nothing more than average... My man Romo ALWAYS finishes the season in the top 5 of most QB stat lists - he MUST be elite. The 4 years prior to that he was terrible/suspended. Nnamdi is following that career path - not the "I'm going to carry around 500lbs of guns - but the "I'm going to go from being talked about as a generational talent, to a washed up middling CB. A good investment for SF though, if he's anything like Jones he'll be average again in 5 years!

Nnamdi was lost the day he signed on with the Eagles because they ran a ton of zone schemes which is simply not his strong suit. He played mostly man in Oakland, and thrived.

In zone I don't know if it was just a lot of miss-communication with the safeties, but he had a ton of receivers he would release, and no one would be within 5-10 yards of the receiver. Showed no aggressiveness at all in tackling too, to much standing around, and ole'ing wideouts.

Does San Fran run a lot of zone coverage? Really not sure it's a good fit if they do, but at that price it's an easy choice to make giving him a shot.

Nnamdi always seemed more suited to man-coverage instead of that zone that they used in Philly. Anyways at that cheap it's not much risk at all.

He also got thrown at a lot more in Philly because he wasn't the only DB worth a fuck there. In Oakland teams didn't even throw his way because why bother? The other DB's there would just leave someone open.

Newman was also extremely good last year after the first few games. When Newman got to Cincy Mike Zimmer was all "WTF happened to your fundamentals. They are terrible," and then Newman was all "Dallas coaching, man."

Speaking of coaching, Nnamdi will have actual defensive coaches coaching him on the 49ers instead of an offensive line coach. That has to count for something.

More like Newman was actually healthy for an entire season. He was good in Dallas even his last year there, before he got banged up in the middle of the season. Dude is just old, can't play with injuries as well anymore.

I dont think the Niners could have made a better free agency move on the defensive side of the ball. People act like Nmandi played n Phili for 5 years or some shit. He was there for 2 seasons. He is 31 years old.

Im not saying YEAH he is going to go back to the ALL PRO player he was! But there is no reason to think cant return to form in the right scheme. For all intents and purposes Carlos Rodgers isnt really a fast corner himself. He is kind of old too if Nmandi is. THe point is Nmandi will not be on the field every down and he will liekly be the 3rd or 4th corner. Then you still have Cox as injury insurance.\

And Famm, not sure if your following but the Ravens have fucking GUTTED their roster. The Niners lost only Goldson and a bad kicker and an ancient Moss and 2 TERRIBLE NT's they could care less about. They still have 5 super bowl wins. Compared to the Ravens 2. The niners will also be the better team going into the season. Flacco has no more motivation as he just signed a fat contract and won a super bowl. That team is going to be 8-8.

I heard one of Namdi's buddies on the Dave Dameshek podcast a couple weeks ago and he was talking about how Philly wasted his talent in the zone schemes and that if he got onto a team where he could play man to man again we would all be saying he is the best CB in the league after this year. Obviously not an unbiased analysis, but the fact that he took a contract with no guaranteed money kind of shows that the guy's got a chip on his shoulder and is looking to prove himself worthy of a real contract after this year.

Yep, I'd agree with that.

He is still getting 4 million guaranteed from the Eagles, he doesn't need any guaranteed money from SF. Harbaalke is so good that they get other teams to pay for their players now.

Just looked at this NFL top play of all time bracket. Definitely some shady shit going on here, not that I should be surprised. Troy Polamalu's flying tackle, which had absolutely no impact on the final result of the game it happened in and came in just the 2nd regular season game of a season, is about to beat the immaculate reception. So there is no way that is legit, some "vote for the worst" stuff going on there.

Also, the matchup between David Tyree helmet catch and Steve Young's run against the Vikings has over 18 million total votes and counting and is receiving 100s of votes per second. You can literally just keep clicking on the match-up to bring up the voting and watch how the count goes up by 100-200 every few seconds. None of the other matchups have even 4% as many votes as this match-up. So clearly something shady going on here as well.

Meaningless because who gives a shit who wins I guess, but I thought it was interesting that even something this harmless gets screwed with.

I don't know about that. I can see the Ravens possibly missing playoffs, but I doubt it would because they went 8-8. It would be due to losing out on tie breakers. However, the AFC is somewhat weak right now so I think it's likely the Ravens will be right back in it.

Of course Dumervil basically fell into their laps, giving them the 1-2 punch on the pass rush with Suggs. The draft hasn't even happened yet...they could really nail it and still have a 10-6 year to get into the playoffs very easily. I do think they might have a bit of a down year as far as contending for the Super Bowl might go, but when you think about it, they had a lot of age on their roster hanging on for that last run, and if you're ever going to have the credibility to clean up the roster and make it more "your" guys (Harbaugh's I mean), it's right after you win the Super Bowl. It might sting a little short term but really help them medium to long in not having to do a complete tear down and rebuild.

Or we're three weeks into Free Agency and no one's signed him, so why not get something while playing for a legitimate contender.

There are a lot of veteran guys taking relatively small amounts this year. You can view it as them hoping to refresh their resumes... or the continued financial split into the haves and have-nots.
