The Boldin issue is a non factor since they would still have a need at TE. Dickson has problems staying healthy. After him and Shank (also injury prone) you have guys on the roster like Bajema (blocker only) and Furstenburg (completely raw rookie). Clark played 16 games last year. I figured he was on the short list 5 minutes after Pitta went down. Not really too much else out there that can play the position and catch passes.
