Nah! Dump offs and check-downs only get you as far as your defense will take you. At some point, you're going to have to make big plays and come from behind. Alex "Can't play from behind" Smith is showing that in spades, now that the Chiefs aren't getting 170 sacks a game.

The mistake is irrelevant. Garcon caught a pass on 4th and 1 that was good enough for the 1st down and allowed the ball to be stripped. A blown call didn't blow the 14 point lead either. No one to blame but themselves.

Washington gets close to a 1st down, sticks shows 1st down, Shannahan ask for measurement they tell him no it was a 1st down. Washington thinking it was 1st down goes deep, next play the sticks are moved back and shows 4th down.

No call, just a Down and Distance fuckup. It should have been 3rd and 1 but one official signaled to the chain crew that it was 1st down and to move the chain. Washington called a play similar to what you would call with a 1st and 10. It was incomplete. Then the next play was suddenly 4th and 1 instead of 2nd and 10. It doesn't change the fact that Garcon got straight up punked by having the ball stolen from him, but it's very likely that 1st and 10 would have been an entirely different play when called as a 3rd and 1 and then the 4th and 1 strip doesn't happen.
