I am sure there is a video of this somewhere, so apologies for the Vine link. I vaguely recall this last night, but wasn't sure what he said. Seriously, wtf is he talking about?

I think he is saying switching out balls but doesn't really sound like that

Not that it mattered in last night's game, but did anyone see in the 2nd or 3rd quarter when they picked up a flag for holding and they said it was because the quarterback was out of the pocket or something? Since when is that now not a penalty? Are they saying the hold didn't change the outcome of the play? Holding gets called all the time that is inconsequential to the play. I have never seen/heard of a holding flag picked up for such a reason; and don't get me wrong, I think that would be great if they did that, just I have never heard of such a thing.

Yeah, and after thinking twice, maybe it wouldn't be that great either because that will just be another thing left to their interpretation like the two pi flags picked up against carolina, the one in the game against ne and there was another one against tb sunday. I think both of those plays the receiver could have made a play on the ball if they weren't interfered with.

That was one of the most perplexing calls of the season. I could see them picking up the flag, but the explanation goes against the reasoning for so many other holding calls.

For real, I've seen enough game altering penalties that were shit calls. Be nice to have a central office like the NHL make these decisions quickly too.

Feels like we have these purists that want to keep all this human error bullshit in the game but times have changed. Bad play happens its all over the fucking net in a gif seconds later. Keep up with the times and fix as much of this stupid shit as you can.

Yeah, I'm with Belichick on this one. Challenges are annoying but necessary at this point and I'd rather see a call be made correctly than a game get won on some bullshit.

Refs won't go for it though. No one likes being made to look stupid.

They already look stupid, the officiating this year has been worse than I can remember in the past and that includes the year with replacement refs.

Yeah, he makes a really good point. I don't really understand why they made certain things unreviewable. In fact, why the fuck can't they just correct everything at once? An example I think was the 49ers and Redskins game, where there was a fumble recovered by the Redskins but one of the Redskins players had a facemask on the guy who fumbled (and I just finished the article and saw they used one of those types of plays as an example too).

You clearly see the shit when you review it, why are we pretending it didn't happen just because it didn't get called on the field? We've stopped the game, why not get EVERYTHING right?

Honestly, I still can't figure out why every single thing that happens isn't reviewed automatically. The game is slow enough between plays where we at home get a chance to watch a replay 5-6 times per play. Surely someone from the league can be assed to look at it once and be like, hey, let's maybe stop the game and get this right?

The NFL might as well get rid of this rule...

When, in the judgment of the Referee, the level of crowd noise prevents the offense from hearing its signals, he can institute a series of procedures which can result in a loss of team time outs or a five-yard penalty against the defensive team.
