I think this article pretty accurately describes my stance on the Miami Dolphins.

Greg Cote: The Miami Dolphins did what they self-destructed and disappointed - Greg Cote - MiamiHerald.com

Even teams that seem perennially bad, like the Cardinals, Rams, Buccaneers, Vikings, Jaguars, Browns, Raiders, Redskins, Bills. Have seen their team do SOMETHING in their lifetime. For me it's been 25 years of straight disappointment.
I'm only 30...the last Redskins Super Bowl appearance/victory was in the 1991 season. You really have to be 40+ to have been around and truly appreciated the last time the Washington Redskins resembled a dominant football team. Like I vaguely remember our Super Bowl party, but fuck, being 9 years old is not the same as being an adult football fan.

I personally don't give a fuck about some glorious franchise history in which 90% of it happened before I was born. All I can see is a team who has not won more than 10 games in a season since 1991. Is that really better than the Dolphins?

My teams are the Vikings, Cubs, and Raptors. Fuck off.
Minnestoa, Chicago, Toronto.

You have no one to blame but yourself.
Also the Vikings have performed considerably better than most in the playoffs the past 10-15 years.

I think the Lions and Redskins are probably the only teams that have been as miserable as the Dolphins these past couple decades.

I read an interesting stat, with the Ravens out of the playoffs, the two teams with the current consecutive playoff runs are now the Patriots and... the Packers (at 5 each).

In regards to the Packers, the Bears changed their head coach last year, and the other two teams in the division are doing so today.

Sometimes the guy next to you wins the lottery, and you get fired for it.

I'm going to take that to mean you think I chose all the teams myself at some point because they're not the same city? That's only true for Toronto. But not everyone grew up in a state with pro teams. I grew up in Iowa...dad was a Vikings fan. Grandpa/dad were Cubs fans.
Neither were really basketball fans and I liked dinosaurs/Isiah Thomas (as a player...didn't know he'd be a horrible VP), so...wah lah, the Raptors.

As for the playoffs, all I remember are 3 gut-wrenching NFC Championship game losses. The Gary Anderson missed field goal against Atlanta. The 41-0 blowout against Giants where you just watched the team give up about 5 minutes into the 1st period. Favre being Favre against the Saints.
It's one thing to lose...it's another thing to lose like that. Bill Simmons has a Levels of Agony scale that he's used over the years. I'm not saying I'd take the mediocrity over that, but...it's totally different to have your hopes sky high and come crashing down.
If your hopes have been up at any point since Marino retired, well...you have no one to blame but yourself.

Honestly I think it's the expansion Browns. Not yet a super lengthy history but they don't call that shit the "factory of sadness" for nothing. Like Washington, Detroit, and Miami have at least had a few, if not short, playoff runs from time to time. I dunno what the fuck kind of culturally ingrained failure there is in Cleveland but it's easily the biggest long term mess in the NFL.

I think KC wins.

I can see NO/PHI going either way.

Sadly hard to imagine the Bengals losing.

SF is going to need to score consistently to win in GB, historically of late the Packers find ways to score on that D so an anemic outing by the Niners offense won't cut it.

I can see both of the NFC games going either way. As long as the weather isn't terrible, NO should do well. However, they have been terrible on the road this year so I have to pick Philly.

SF's defense has allowed a ton of passing yards the last two games, and that worries me with both Rodgers and Cobb back. If the 49ers defense can manage to hold it together, and their offense can stay on the field, they should be able to pull it out. But their offense needs to get some damn consistency, something they haven't had all year.

It's hard to ignore the fact that Cincy hasn't won a playoff game in 23 years, but it's hard not to pick them for the win. The Bengals are pretty good at home.

I'm surprised how much faith people have in the Colts. I think Luck is going to have a very long day.
