Vikings fired Leslie Frazier. Hopefully one of many changes in that organization.
That's too bad. I liked him better than any coach we've had in a long time and don't see anyone better to bring in. We made the playoffs last year and a lot of our losses were heartbreakers at the end this year. The only change they really needed was to get a good QB and some defensive backs.

From the Detroit games I have seen, Stafford throwing the ball to Megatron is similar to Cutler throwing the ball to Marshall - there might be a whole slew of other receivers open, but needling the ball through coverage makes highlight films.

Ravens coaches in their entire history: 3

Just filling out the rule of 3, don't want bad luck happening to anyone.
Just because you made me curious...

Bengals coaches since 1996: 3

I kind of forget that Marv has been there for so long. 10 years this season. And that their last head coach before him was Dick LeBeau.

Meh. I'm not sure he deserved to be fired but there isn't anything in his tenure to suggest he was anything but a mediocre to bad coach. One winning season on the back of one of the best single player offensive performances of all time and 11-26-1 otherwise.

Thing with a lot of Eli's picks is his receivers bouncing the ball up in the air.

not trying to make excuses for him, dosent change the fact that it is true.

It's not true though. There is no way any significant number of INTs thrown by Eli happened because of receiver error. I'm not saying that scenario doesn't happen. And I'm not saying it doesn't happen to Eli, but the far more likely situation here is you recall seeing it a couple times while watching games and you've allowed that observation bias to alter your perspective. The vast majority of interceptions happen because of badly thrown passes. This is true for every QB in the league including Eli.

Was actually proven incorrect about Cutler. He didn't target Marshall anymore then MCcown did. The best receivers tend to be trusted more to make those catches.

Every QB has INTs from receiver error. Eli's INTs are no more impacted by that than any other QB.
^

What makes you think other QB's aren't having interceptions because of their own receivers tipping balls? Have the Giants just been drafting wide receivers for almost a decade that have an insane tendency to tip balls or something?

Well, that's a little deceiving and dishonest, isn't it? He took over in the middle of a shitty season after the Childress debacle. Peterson played only 12 games the next year. We went to the playoffs last year, and then the team has A LOT of bad luck in the last 2 minutes of games this year. Now, you could say that the coach should pull out those tight games, but I'll say if we had a half decent QB, the games wouldn't have been that close.

To me, it comes down to..."Why are you losing football games?" And it was because we didn't have a good QB (and, also, DBs). I don't see those losses being a by-product of who the head coach was. There are times when the stink runs so deep that you have no choice but to clean house...this was not one of those times. Trade up and draft a QB...spend the rest of your picks on DBs, which was almost as big of a problem as the QB situation, and you're looking at another run at the playoffs.

They can still do that, obviously, with a different coach. And I hope he makes me forget Frazier's name, but there are a lot more Mike Tices out there than there are Bud Grants.

The Vikings really did seem better than their record. Any half decent qb could have easily flipped their record from 5-10-1 to 10-6.

The fact their defense only played about a quarter worth of football per game for 3/4 of the season certainly didn't help them either.

Kind of have to include thebottom of the leaguedefense in on this too.

Despite our atrocious QB situation, we were middle of the pack offensively this season. However, the defense was in the very dregs of the league

I think Frazier's insistence on playing Ponder is what really did him in. He had a lot of faith in that guy and to sit Cassell after a win was pretty boneheaded imo.
