Listen you fucking idiot. Rookie QB's who have never seen NFL talent aren't going to make a team better. And he will lose them more games than he wins if/when he plays. If plays all 17, they pick first. Shut the fuck up you stupid, moronic, know-nothing retard.
I'll happily bet you that if Lance starts all 17 games, the 49ers do not end up with the #1 overall pick. Too much talent on that team for a QB to tank them that hard, well barring crazy injuries again. As others have mentioned they managed to win enough games with Mullens and Beathard back there to not get the #1 pick.

All that said, I am doubtful he starts. At this point there are very few suitors for Jimmy G, and what are the 49ers going to get, a 4th at best? I mean I suppose that is better than nothing. I was listening to a podcast and they were talking about the whole sit him or start him right away discussion. And they have a good point in that you just start him and see what you've got. If you are on the bench you aren't learning much really. You aren't getting starter reps in practice, and you aren't getting a feel for the game either.

So while I was on the keep Jimmy and try to win now, I say trade him and get what you can for him, and see what you really have in Lance.

Yeah even if Lance starts day 1, that roster has to carry them to at least 3-4 wins even if he's a shitshow. Some team is going to be a tire fire and win 1 or 2 games to get pick 1.

Not so fast my friend. There is a dumpster fire team in South East Texas that will challenge for that 2022 #1 overall pick.

I mean Russ started his rookie season and was a field goal away from going to the conference finals.

Russel also had the best RB and defense in football, in what was at the time a fairly weak division. The Big Ben Rape Ape stat is actually more impressive, given that division.

You don't have to go that far back. Kyler Murray had a decent first season and the team around him had plenty of flaws and they still won 5.5 games.

So yeah Kaines is an idiot like I said.

10-12 years ago maybe playing a rookie QB with little experience was not something teams did. But Thats not the case in 2021. Josh Allen had a pretty ho hum rookie campaign, but then look what happened. That playing time was super valuable and translated into the player he is today. Not only that but Lance has experience in a pro style set up, he took almost 40% of snaps from under center during his college career.

I don't know where people are getting this idea that rookies can't start. Joe Burrow did it very successfully last year until he got injured. Mahomes is more the exception than the rule. Cam Newton and RGIII had probably their best seasons as rookies. A lot of the ones that failed had to do with the fact that first round QBs are very often taken by garbage teams.

The difference for me with Lance is game speed, if he transitions into that fine for sure throw him out there but if he needs to get up to speed you need to develop that ahead of time to an extent.

Well, my take was that the idea of Lance starting just default makes SF the first pick in the 2022 draft which is dumb as fuck. He would almost for sure struggle, but if you don't think that roster is good enough to win some random games even if he's a shitshow that just means you're dumb. There are plenty of teams that are maybe 1 injury away from a 1-15 or 2-14 season.

Idiots in this thread comparing someone who played for North Dakota St to rookies who came in after playing for FBS trams is comical. The best comparison so far has been Big Ben who played his college career at Miani(OH). And he is the exception.

again, thinking he's going to suck if he plays starting with game 1 and thinking that the 49ers will be literally the worst team in the league are two different things.
