So here is an example of why the Texas have 0 maneuverability if they were to trade Watson .

Assuming the Texans trade to the Jets, they would likely take back Darnold and 2021 R1 & R2 picks from the Jets (and hopefully more).

Enunwa and Griffin are selected as surrogates for the rookie slot contracts for those picks (even then I think that they are low numbers) & Mosley is shoring up the $5.8m that you stated.

This trade was created on Spotrac.

This is a completely cherry picked trade, no guarantee they take back a QB or any players other than just draft picks. Also if you check out NFL Draft Resources and Contract Estimates you can see that the Jets R1 and R2 picks would only have an estimated combined cap cost of $5.585M, as opposed to the roughly $6.4M Enunwa and Griffin would be together.

Also note that it depends greatly where the R1 pick is for the cap hit, as if instead they were to trade with someone like Carolina picking 8th, their 1st and 2nd round slots wouldn't even add up to $4M combined extra. Anyone picking roughly 16th or later, their combo of 1st and 2nd round picks wouldn't even add up to $3M total in added cap needed.

That all of course they would get both a 1st and a 2nd round pick THIS year added as part of the deal, if they trade with someone who say didn't have a 2nd this year, and only added a 1st this draft, that would be even less cap needed. Also I'm not sure what you mean by Mosley and $5.8M stated? If you're misinterpreting like I think you are, that's not covering that's just adding Mosley's cap hit randomly as part of the deal.

They don't need "maneuverability" if they trade him. It will be full rebuild so any draft picks they do own they'll be happy to have them higher. They're not going to try to field a super competitive next year team if they trade Watson.

And again, they can drop Cooks at anytime for like 12 million.

Also, once again, nobody is really talking about the merits of trading the guy. You were just saying it's literally impossible because of the cap and it's just not.

Didn't know that this site existed. Neat little tool and will refer to it a lot more.

And that right there is pointing to not getting proper pick value for a super star QB. You are not going to trade him away for anything less than the top 3 picks in the 1st two rounds for this year. Anything less than that you getting fleeced more than you should be.

Also I'm not sure what you mean by Mosley and $5.8M stated? If you're misinterpreting like I think you are, that's not covering that's just adding Mosley's cap hit randomly as part of the deal.
It was a misunderstanding and I agree Mosley shouldnt be chosen there. Texans r3-r6 slot total comes to $3,041,194.

Texans have only 1 QB rostered right now after cutting future head coach Josh McCown, and he doesnt want to play... Supposedly.

The overall point remains that with moving Watson puts a giant negative cap hit on to the team via incoming veteran player(s) cap hit(s) that are apart of any trade, picks for this year's draft the leaves the tam with zero maneuverability.

It is actually a cool site I didn't know about until looking up stuff for this.

They don't have to get multiple picks this year if someone is going to give them 3 or 4 straight 1sts. If someone offered 4 straight 1sts and and their 2nd next year? That's a haul. Smart teams will probably try and spread out the pick loss each year if possible.

Your r3-r6 is actually higher than $3M b/c you have multiple picks in some of those rounds I believe (I don't know how many in each, just that there are some multiples).

Again IF they actually do get a deal for Watson, they're pretty much in full rebuild for at least a couple seasons, so I'm not expecting them to sign/take back any QB with any sort of real cap hit. Plenty of cheap bodies that could be signed for cheap to be a placeholder before looking for the new franchise guy with either a pick this year or a future 1st.

The negative cap hit for moving Watson is a net of -$5.8M. I don't really see why they would accept veteran players coming back the other way as part of the deal, because if you're not contending, why take on veterans/cap hits like that? The full draft pick haul makes way more sense.

Given that they have over $16M in cap space right now, even with the negative cap hit you get from moving him, and the rookie increase that would come adding a 1st round pick (and potentially even a 2nd this year depending on from who), they could definitely still do a trade, they would just be going very low budget at QB which would make sense in a rebuild year...unless they did want to cut Cooks for $12M in space, although he played pretty well last year (hell I snatched him off waivers in my fantasy league after like Week 5, people were sleeping on him).

THIS right here. They will pretty much start dumping salary, and whatever players they get in return with the Watson trade. Freeing up MORE money.

BUT MUH TEXANS!

If JS/PC trade away Russ, they should be immediately fired. Unless theres something going on we already we dont know, no coach should outlast a HoF QB.

The only way you trade away Russ is if its for Watson and a pick. Because Houston is that bad of a franchise.

Wilson also has a no trade contract, zero chance he goes to Houston

If Seattle knows he wants out there is really no reason to be like Houston and fuck around so get as much as they can for him now rather than later

I have decided that my new team going forward is going to be the 49'ers.

Go fuck yourself Ameraves Ameraves .
Since you are on the 49ers bandwagon, you should go ahead and sport this logo as your avatar. It should convey your retardation pretty well, just like the 49ers thought process when they tried to switch to that abomination.

If the Seahawks brass take Carrol's side over Wilson, they are pretty fucking stupid. The NFL game has clearly already passed Carrol by, and letting go of Wilson and keeping Carrol would be a huge blow to that team for years to come.

I was thinking about editing my river city ransom avatar to sport 49'ers colors and show a few broken bones since our amazing team is a mash unit.
