Don't some of those refs have regular jobs making mullions though? Remember, it's not 6 months of work. It's 6 months working one day a week (with probably 2 days of travel).

I seem to recall Ed Hochuli being a lawyer of some sort

Had kind of forgotten about it since it wasn't being talked about much but Lamar must be either really happy or pissed he is about to go down the getting tagged line

They should tag him for 2 years and then let him go as his speed starts to decline. The moment he isn't the fastest player on the field he won't even be good in the regular season.

Facts. Dude is Kapernick 2.0. He's faster, throws a bit more accurately, and is definitely more athletic. He will never be a long term franchise QB though.

apparently more teams need to get Goffed or Wentzed before the madness ends

He can likely have random big seasons even down the road. But that's the issue, they'll feel random and not consistent. Like Vick with Philly.

Dak's deal sorta seems like a $100m sympathy deal and if comes back and plays good it'll be gravy but if not he still got paid and financially set

It’s cap friendly the first two years and then has a huge jump in year 3 when the new TV deals will inflate the cap like crazy. It’s not as terrible as the raw numbers suggested. Sure, he is getting a huge payment up front but whatever. The no tag, no trade basically means if Dak doesn’t take the Cowboys deep in the playoffs soon, he might be gone before year 4 and definitely won’t be resigned.

Yeah 40M cap hit won't feel as bad if the cap goes up like 20 percent or whatever and you see dudes like Allen signing for 55M or whatever. Assuming he's healthy and plays well. Large contracts for good but not elite QBs usually pan out pretty poorly though, so we'll see.

Dak basically signed a deal where he has to make multiple deep playoff runs and win at least 1 Superbowl to not be considered a failure. After being a once a generation success as a 4th round pick. The fall will be epic.

While I do think Dak is the better player overall, Kirk Cousins has done okay for a former 4th round pick, too.

Also, Godwin got franchise tagged for the upcoming season. That's two down...

I imagine 1 and 2 year deals will be the norm for the Bucs this offseason. Just need to get Suh and Succop signed as well. Maybe AB too, but I'm 100% convinced Shaq Barrett is gone.

I have this hunch a lot of guys will take a little less money to try and keep the band together for at least another year.
