Derrick Henry could retire tomorrow and the only question about his HoF status would be whether he earned first ballot status or not. 2000 yard club, one of two players to ever have a 99 yard rushing touchdown, already has 5 200 yard rushing games. For reference the NFL record for career 200 yard rushing games is only 6, held jointly by AP and OJ.

If Henry can stay healthy (which is always a big IF in the NFL) he will probably lay to rest any question as to who is the GOAT of running backs.
What? Lol.

Henry is great but dude has absolute monster o-lines. Who knows, maybe he'll surprise all of us, but there is only one RB currently playing football that has a claim at GOAT and I think he has an extremely uphill battle to catch Brown & Sanders - Adrian Peterson. Dude has the greatest rushing season ever, all things considered (torn knee 7 months before, absolutely GARBAGE surrounding offensive play - Christian Ponder... lol).

Jim Brown, Barry Sanders, Adrian Peterson, Eric Dickerson, Walter Payton, Emmitt Smith, OJ (sort of anamoly, one extremely great season), LT, Campbell etc. Also, for 60-70 years catching the football as a running back didn't really mean anything, so take that into account.

OJ had three great seasons and two really good ones. You're saying 1800+ and 1500+ seasons with 5.2/5.5 YPG in a 14 game season isn't really great? That's crazy. Those would have led the league on a YPG basis many times over.

But, he's an interesting comparison since it really was just those five seasons that were worth much. Derrick Henry has two great and one good season thus far (and that one only "good" because he had 215 carries). I don't think he's a lock HoF yet but as long as he doesn't drop off a cliff in the next two-three years, it will happen. I don't think HoF voters consider the surrounding team as much as raw production, TBH.

Earl Campbell is another one that had only five standout seasons and he was an easy entry.

hotel right next to freeways, drug fueled party gone wrong?

Dunno about parties, but I would not be shocked if the death involved an overdose. The motel/hotel was fairly close to area he lived apparently based on those news articles.

gavinmad goes so far in the other direction when arguing my points he ends up making himself look dumb lol.

How the fuck is Henry a surefire bet HoF'er? Talk about prisoner of the moment.

And the GOAT? LMAO. Go look at Jim Browns stats, ill be right here. Sanders as well, Emmit Smith..... I mean, even fucking Thurman Thomas for that matter. henry has work to do.

Ryan Pace tried so hard to get fired this season and it didnt happen. Hes going all in now! But if they get Wentz and resign Robinson, that could be fun.

RE: Rojo getting better at blocking and catching - sure yeah, he seems to have gotten better at both as the season progressed, but he's still not starter level competent at either. In fact, it feels relatively telegraphed to the defense that when Rojo is in == run play, because he's rarely in the game on pass plays because of his lack of competency.

Don't get me wrong - I love Rojo and feel he's a fantastic runner; but thats all he gives you for now. I bet thats a partial reason why Lenny was given the nod in the playoffs - injury played a big part sure, but also Lenny is better at that aspect of the game (he came away with a few huge catches in key moments of the playoff run)

Consider last draft KC at 32 picked up CEH and Indy picked up Jonathan Taylor with pick 41. Getting a player of that caliber for the Bucs would be a huge win.

I mean yeah I'm being hyperbolic by saying he's already a HoF lock, but I added a pretty powerful qualifier to any possibility of him ending up the goat. Yall just dont read.

I read that earlier as well, hard to believe it's not complete fabricated bullshit like the wentz to the bears crap. Certainly isn't ring chasing if it turns out true

Rojo had something like ~40 targets last year, so it's not like he's out there getting sub 20 like some RB's. Also once Fournette is healthy, just makes more sense to put him out there for passing plays since he is the better pass catcher, and bigger body to potentially block anyways. Rojo is starter quality for everything now, but if you have a guy who is just better at those things, why not use him for them? Frankly being able to rotate those 2 is great for Tampa.

You guys acting like the Browns werent a good team last season. Their defense was banged up and need some help on the d-line. They are a legit contender if they can carry that momentum over.

You mean 2019 or 2020? Who is saying they weren't a good team in 2020?

Sure they did well this year and could carry over that momentum, but compared to other teams? There are much better choices if a ring is the priority. As great as the Bills did this year I would also consider them a bad choice. Both teams seem just as likely to have a sophomore slump type year as they do winning the super bowl.

They almost beat the Chiefs in the divisional round, and the Chiefs very well could have lost if Henne wasn't playing like his life was on the line.

not saying they didn't, just saying regression rather than progression is a thing with both of those teams after successful seasons

Both teams have gotten better every year as their young QB's mature, so some how they will be worse? Ya makes sense..
