It's the Lions. Part of the fun is seeing how they'll get fucked by the refs in new and interesting ways.

Nothing will beat their last playoff game vs the Cowboys where one of the refs threw a flag on a blatant PI call, then picked it up and basically said nevermind.

You mean when the receiver grabbed the defender's face masked and a bunch of pussy Lions fans haven't stopped crying since?

Considering that directly lead to Bob Quinn being hired as GM and the eventual hiring of Matt Patricia, yes, you can say I'm still butthurt about that call.

I would have been OK with offsetting penalties if they wanted to call the facemask, but there's no way there wasn't PI on that play.

It would only be PI because he didn't turn his head around, which he couldn't because the player was grabbing his facemask. Pretty unlikely you're going to have a ref call offsetting on something like that

Gonna agree to disagree there. The contact with the facemask was pretty minimal, the linebacker didn't even make the slightest effort to turn around - he was face guarding on the play and didn't time his contact with the TE even close. Anyway, back to the newest screw job.

and here's what's going to happen

any player or coaching staff who speaks out about referee incompetence will be fined
zero punitive or re-training measures will be taken with any referee
none of you will stop swilling down this terrible shit every week

This is an all-time bad call, I mean, on the level of the mugging the Rams Defender gave to the Saints in that famous No-Call, or University of Michigan's famous 5 downs, but to call back a successful two point conversion because the Ref got the wrong guy checking in as eligible? Legend. I mean, forget the Kelce lateral TD for the Win because Kadarious Toney lined up in the same place he lined up in ALL NIGHT and then you call him for it when they make the GAME WINNING PLAY. Same Ref crew, btw, as that gem of a job.

This, unlike the other two bad calls, isn't even a PENALTY. They literally made up some BS to call back the winning play. That Dan Campbell had explained to them pregame.

I mean, nothing is going to happen; they won't change the outcome, they won't admit error. No one can in the League can even call them out without risking fines, etc.

It's like COVID all over again and Biden is the head referee.

Edit: I am an erstwhile Cowboys fan; I am in recovery while Jerry owns the team. I mean, I like Jerry but I think he hires weak coaches and has a middling GM (himself). No doubt they have a run of good teams who can't win playoff games and SBs because of mid coaching. Since MCDC has taken over the Lions, we have been following the Lions and since we are back watching the NFL Post- Black National Anthem/George Floyd/Kneeling BS (There is only one National Anthem and you don't kneel for it) we have been watching the Lions via NFL Sunday Ticket.

This is highway robbery and will ruin the NFL's money train if they don't fix it. You can't have 3+ games a year be blown by refs without people thinking the games are rigged.

Edit 2: The referees are so bad this year, I might not pick up NFL Sunday Ticket next year if something's not done. Games aren't fun to watch with this level of fuckery. Games are hard enough to watch and enjoy when I care about the outcome in any event.

Gotta call bullshit on this one. I wouldn't be surprised if he got away with lining up offsides multiple times that night but there's absolutely no way he was lining up that far forward every time, he was almost parallel with the defensive line.

You can find the tweet, they have pics of him lined up in the same position as the play in question multiple times throughout the game. Its buried now somewhere in my timeline but I imagine it shouldn't be too hard to find from any regular internet search. They only flagged him when it mattered for point-shaving, though. I will see if I can find it as well.

Edit: Here's Dan Orlovsky breaking it down: https://atozsports.com/kansas-city/chiefs-espn-dan-orlovsky-kadarius-toney-offside-proof-nfl-wrong/

I'd like to hear the NFL's response to last night's justice. People saying he's near the ref so he has to be checking in as eligible ignores that three different Lions linemen went over there. Were they all reporting 68 as eligible? Because that sounds like a really weird thing to do and if that ends up confusing the ref then its on the idiot players

So confusing that he looked directly at Decker and nodded at him, then turned and walked away before Skipper got there.

Outside of how terrible of an excuse "he always lines up offsides!!" is, none of those were even close to what he was flagged for. He has a toe on the line for those, and the penalty flag came in when he was all the way past the neutral zone

I see the ref looking at 2 players standing right next to each other. Since you have vision and hearing beyond mortal men, what was #58 saying and why's #70 running up there also?

Seeing as how Sewell lined up at tight end, I'm gonna go waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay out on a limb here and guess that he's reporting eligible. Meanwhile Skipper lined up in a covered position on the line that could not possibly be mistaken for an eligibile receiver.

Decker specifically left the huddle to declare eligible, you think he just had a brain fart while walking over to the ref? Multiple players on the field have said 68 declared and 70 did not. The dipshit ref *assumed* it was 70 who declared despite 70 never saying as such. While a historically bad call, bad calls are part of the game. The only thing I want to see moving forward is this crew never even sniffing the chance at reffing another game.
