Yeah, I said that it didn't make sense for them not to shop him. No way this is the best deal that could exist. They only got one first round draft pick, too.

Maybe Luka said he would never resign and only wanted to go to the Lakers such that if he got traded he would tell any teams that he was never going to sign. That, I guess, makes more sense and puts Dallas in a bad place.

If that's true, holy fuck, then it makes beyond no sense. There had to be some backroom bullshit going on.

I could maybe see the Lakers wanting to look to the future and hoping this will make LeBron want to leave but it still makes zero sense from the Dallas side.

Yeah this is more about Lakers post LeBron than anything else.

I refuse to believe Mavs couldn't at least get Reeves and/or Knecht out of the deal.

NBA and Adelsons rigged this trade to get Dallas to Vegas and boost NBA ratings which are in the dumpster. I’m out, been real NBA. I’m numb man…. It’s all so fake and gay

Nico admitted on the Mavs pre-game show that the Lakers were the ONLY team he spoke with about the trade...

Everybody knows the league tilts the court in LA's direction...
My conspiracy theory is that Adelson wanted the Mavs to be part of a combo package here in Dallas once the state legalizes Casino gambling. The problem is that it looks like the Texas legislature is NOT going to pass casino gambling (which means waiting another 2 years to try again). She now knows this.
She asks the league internally what she needs to do for them to grease the skids for her to move the Mavs to Vegas. (Where she can get her arena + coliseum deal.)
League is desperate for better ratings and knows LA is the ratings flagship... Tell her helping the Lakers will do.
Nico is already in on the deal because of his relationship with LA management.
Mavs in Vegas in 24 months, 50/50 shot Nico moves to be GM of the Lakers.

Also the head coach (J Kidd) says he didn't know about the trade until less than an hour before it happened.

I don't understand how Dallas didn't get some more picks or other assets. Mavs had Luka/Porzingis/Brunson and turned it into AD/Max Christie/Dinwiddie

Saw somebody else suggesting it as well and it's the only thing I've heard that makes any sense so far. However - for teams to move, 2/3 of the other teams need to approve it. No guarantee that happens if it becomes obvious that was the reason for this trade, considering the way it went down.

If the trade went down like this then you have the league putting their thumb on the scales and in the ears of all the other team owners to make sure the quid gets pro quo'd....

Been a Mavs fan since 94... don't think there's any recovering from this. I guess a part of me is glad that I don't have to care about the NBA at all anymore, but I truly loved the Mavs. They were really the only sports team I cared about anymore. But this is just... beyond words. So fucking stupid.

I will say this about Luka. I'm not a huge NBA person, but Luka got me caring about and paying attention to the Mavs....

Guess it's time to go back to being Stars/Rangers focused.

The Kings get six draft picks, haha. Lavine isn't the same as Fox but still a way better haul than the Mavs got.

You should have watched the pre-game presser. When Nico openly said he only talked to the Lakers, didn't talk beforehand with Luka or even JKidd, with JKidd sitting next to him. Then poor Kidd had to say "all the right things" but his body language... damn...

This actually sounds very probable. It was immediately echoed that when Cuban sold the team to these Jewish demons, that their only interest was trying to force Austin into opening up Texas to gambling. Funny, because some whispers about this immediately circled around DFW and everyone just kinda hand-waved it.

Doesn't seem far-fetched now. I only pray that Austin continues to say "No" to gambling, and they move the team. Get this stain out of DFW.
