Very surprised by this move. Seems like he was on really good terms with the Lions, pretty shitty to bounce to a division rival. I thought the Raiders were a more favorable situation since he could pick his own quarterback and he wouldn't burn that bridge, but he has spoken very highly of Williams, I guess it wasn't all just platitudes.

Curious to see if Tanner Engstrand gets the job. He's been sort of the understudy for Johnson as the passing game coordinator. Hank Fraley could also get the nod - he's interviewed for some OC jobs and has been a hell of an offensive line coach, just not sure of his playcalling. Scottie Montgomery is the third name I think might be in the running - he's listed as assistant head coach and running backs coach, so, they must think highly of him. I don't like he's only been with the organization the last two years. I'm hoping it's Engstrand as OC and Kelvin Sheppard as DC if Glenn gets a HC job elsewhere.

I'm pretty confident about next year, I think the window is still open for them. Losing Johnson stings, but overall, I think there are too many good players on offense to have too much of a drop off. Weak link is Goff - he really needs elite offensive line play since he has nearly zero ability to improvise if a play breaks down or there is any pressure. Getting nearly the entire defense back off the IR will be nice - they looked really good early in the year before Hutchinson went down. After that, they started to get really shaky as the additional injuries piled up and they had to rely almost exclusively on the blitz to get any pressure.

As much as I dislike all the rules against hitting people these days, it really is frustrating how much the playoffs/superbowl really come down to who had the least injuries this year or at least the least critical injuries at critical times.

Don't you all watch landman? Jerry just wants to work with his kids. But not the estranged one.

Football is just a by product.

Lions lose both their OC and DC, it is going to be a tough transition for them.

They were getting roasted hard in the media for not firing him after the season and letting him find another coach. Glad to see ownership finally acted after missing out on all the top candidates. Im guessing they are gonna kinda be stuck hiring Saleh unless the new GM has eyes on some assistant on another team.

“There’s three teams that made the playoffs this year. I’ve got tremendous amount of respect for the coaches and the players in this league having competed against them for the last six years. Dan Campbell, Kevin O’Connell, talking about two guys that are up for coach the year awards as the season ends here. And to be quite frank with you, I kind of enjoyed beating Matt LaFleur twice a year.”

The Bears new hires frequently make comments about putting together a team that can beat the Packers, but to blunt, I wouldn't assume the Packers are the team to beat in that division anytime soon.

If Saleh was smart, he would pull his name from consideration, just like a couple other coaches did. Why would you want to have your next HC gig be at a totally dysfunctional organization? It could really hurt future opportunities.

I could see him taking the job for multiple reasons. 1) He would have the upper hand on Jags and probably get a huge contract. 2) Theres only a few chances to be a HC in the NFL and who knows when his next shot will be. 3) He finally has a team with a good QB and a roster full of talent and will want to prove people wrong. He was given shit for a QB in NY and was still able to remain competitive.

But yes I do agree that the situation isnt great. The owner cares and seems pretty hands off but it just hasnt worked out at all. Unlike the Browns, Jets and Panthers who have a shitty owner who tries to run things.
