From what I heard on sports radio today was that some of the candidates didn’t want to meet with the Jags unless he was gone. Supposedly same with the Saints and their GM. I’m guessing Coen turning them down after the interview was finally enough for the owner after being roasted by every media outlet for keeping Baalke to begin with.

How is that a bad play? Even the butt fumble was a better play, the man in the superbowl with the game on the line refused to dive for the ball, I don’t know how anyone played with him ever again.

It's a joke. Elway's helicopter dive is about as much the exact opposite of that play as it could possibly be. 37 year old man who played during an era when defenders routinely committed aggravated battery on QBs basically says "Either I hoist the Lombardi or I get carried out of here in a body bag" vs a 26 year old coward who played during an era where QBs are coddled like premature infants who won't even try to go after the fumble caused by his mediocrity as a passer.

I'm happy about this. I think the defense was actually better under DeMeco Ryans but he's not coming back and Saleh presided over a better defense than we've had in a couple of years now.

The Jets definitely had a solid defense during his brief tenure there and oh lordy did it ever fall apart after those morons scapegoated him.

Oh shit they made the right move, they might be good now. Then again they're in the AFC West and don't have a QB.

I simply think the game has passed Carroll by. There is no doubt he builds a great culture and players love him, but I think his offensive philosophy is still stuck in the past. Maybe I am totally wrong and he comes in and turns that franchise around, but I wouldn't bet on it.
