Dolphins are just like "fuck.."
I'm pretty Zen about this season as a Dolphins fan. Miami couldn't get past Allen or Mahomes when Tua was on his rookie contract. They aren't going to get past them now.

Most teams are in this position but they're in denial about it. Get to the postseason relatively healthy and hope someone else knocks out the Chiefs.

Joe Burrow getting his ring this year.

Alex Alex will go to New Orleans and watch his team beat the Lions.

I was gonna steal his Bears joke but I figured someone would call me out on it.

Aiyuk/ Commander noise getting louder. Fuck I'd do it with our cap space. In theory QB on rookie contract next bunch of years, too.

kinda depends on what the 9'ers want out of it as well since all you really know is Aiyuk is wanting $30m or more

I just don't even know what they could offer to the 49ers to make it worth it. Whether Aiyuk likes it or not, he is under contract this year for the 49ers.

I also think they would be foolish to let him walk. He is an amazing route runner, and already meshes well with Purdy. Let Deebo walk next offseason, keep Aiyuk and hope Pearsall works out.

Not worth it. He's in that better than average but not great tier, imo.
The unfortunate reality of the current version of the NFL, QB's are unicorns that must be babied and PAYED. If they can stand up, they get PAYED.

They don't have a ton of leverage if he's just going to walk after the season. Not sure what their cap situation looks like as far as trying to tag him next year. Clearly looks like they tried to draft a replacement as well.

Obviously I'd love to not pay $30M a year if he'd take less, too. But him and McLaurin instantly would put our WR group around top 7 in the league, maybe higher.

They could just let him plan on his existing contract then franchise him next season. it's $20MMish, so still less than he's wanting. Then he can eithey play for that or demand a trade, but they still have leverage next season.

Yeah, the 9ers have all the power. All Aiyuk can do is hold out. If they don't come to an agreement, he's under contract and they can franchise him the year after that. I'm guessing they sign a deal right before the regular season like Bosa did but that will hurt Aiyuk more than it did Bosa because he won't get any off-season reps with Purdy while all the other receivers will.

It'll be higher than that by next year I'd imagine. Pretty sure their cap situation for next year isn't that great, but not sure how bad exactly.

the odds of him going anywhere new this year is mostly non existent no matter how whiny he gets on facetime with your new QB

Not surprising, but apparently ESPN wanted to sell NFL Sunday ticket for $70/month which I have to assume would be pretty fucking popular but the NFL refused it because they didn't want it to be a serious competitor to CBS/NBC/Fox. The fact that it costs $350+ now and doesn't include the playoffs is a fucking joke but they're desperately trying to hold on to a dying revenue source.
