Movie was alright, I guess. Had some major pacing, and story issues.

They have the visuals down, they just need to get the rest in check.

It's worth going to see, but it is still not the great spiderman film we deserve.

What I enjoyed most from the ASM was the fight sequences seemed much more "Spider-man" to me than any others. Did they get this right in the sequel?

I just happened to catch a show my son was watching that was some cartoon with Spiderman and the Avengers. It was the best take on his personality i've seen yet. Not sure how cartoons or animated series can seem to capture characters better than movies but I look at Batman, Spiderman, X-men, and potentially others that are much more enjoyable in terms of characterization than any movie.

Like I said, all the visuals are fine. If you just want eye candy then you will like this movie.
There's no reason anyone should miss this film if they like super hero flicks especially kids.

That being said it has some story line issues. I'm surprised our overseas people haven't commented on this movie yet. They are getting it a full two weeks before the US.

You guys don't have this yet either?

Just came back from this, overall I enjoyed it but before I even went in I was trying to figure out why the Disney movies are so good and the Sony/Fox movies tend to err on the side of mediocrity, I've boiled it down to a few things.

1. They stray too far from the source material often in bizarre and needless ways which negatively impact the overall experience.
2. They have to shoehorn in weak attempts at comedy characters. In this Jamie Foxx was very borderline for me, there was absolutely zero reason to make his character a total dweeb complete with combover, shit teeth, pens in pocket and nerd glasses. There is another character who as far as I am aware has no real reason to be in the movie other than to be a hilariously voiced comic relief.

It does have a lot of things going for it but there's just a lot that leaves you scratching your head.

I for one am shocked this movie is bad. Shocked.
I wouldn't say it was bad, certain aspects of it annoyed me and it was for unnecessary reasons.

Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy imo were very well portrayed, the villians were extremely badly portrayed.

Saw it last night. It was actually pretty decent, much better than SpiderMan2 (which I detest, personal taste and all that). I am not getting the hate for Garfield's portrayal, I am actually liking him better than MacGuire.

One odd thing was that a scene from the standard cinema trailer was not in the movie. The scene where Harry says Oscorp had surveillance on the Parker family etc.

Saw it a few days ago, it's an ok film, garfield is fine as spiderman, and emma is so fucking hot. My problem with it is they spent all that time on electro probably because it was jamie foxx. Then they decided to dump 10 mins to harry to try and show there was an old relationship there with peter, only to have spiderman fight goblin for like a minute and basically for gwen's death. They bring in rhino for another 2 minutes and cut it as they're about to fight, I know that scene is about him moving on but still seemed abrupt to end the movie there. I expected the movie to be more about harry and peter since they all tie into gwen's death.

That's interesting because in the UK version I watched it was in there.

The movie was mediocre at best. Subjective and all that, but the thing that totally threw me was the mid-credits scene... What the fuck was that all about? Are Sony and FOX going to start sucking each other's cocks to try and get more cross promotion going on, or what?

I heard it was just because Marc Webb has an existing contract with Fox Searchlight and to let him do ASM 2 SONY agreed to that promo spot.

Enjoyed it,I have a new favorite Spider-Man movie, even if the bad guy was the dubstep monster.

Just got back and think I would agree strongly with this post. Very much of the movie was good, but there were unnecessary things, as you say, that really detracted.

Completely anecdotal tin-foil hat observation: For every other 'major' Friday premier at our IMAX3D we've had to get there about 45 min - 1 hr prior to showing for a decent seat. Tonight there was no one in line and there were plenty of open seats in the theater.

Went to see it tonight and really loved it. Best portrayal of Spider-Man yet in my opinion.

Theatre was packed and a number of people clapped at the end. I'd say it was very much enjoyed by the people in the theatre.
