Money comes fairly quickly later on, especially with the weekend dungeons that are just coin rewards. The only thing to keep in mind with a weekend dungeon is that it has no light and dark orbs, just health, green, red and blue. While money is tight one way to level stuff up is to fusion up a unit like a carbuncle etc to level 5-10 using the smallest & crappest units and then feed a set of those to the target unit, it saves a lot of coins as level costs are basically "level x 100" per unit you use for fusion. Keep an eye out for metal dragons as well, they mostly come in purple/dark but occasionally a different colour dungeon appears and they are worth 1k xp/coins for normal, 10k for high and 100k for the top end.
Most people run with a single colour set at least some of the time to take maximum advantage of the +damage leader etc skills and skills that change orbs from one colour type to another. I use a single colour fire team for almost everything at the minute but despite being rank 50 I'm not as far along as I could be, I spent a lot of time farming a particular dungeon for one unit I wanted which was being rather stubborn about dropping.
If you have SomethingAwful membership I highly advise reading the dedicated P&D thread on there, I picked up most of what I know from that thread and it's rather busy - generating almost 1700 posts in less than 3 weeks.
