Vitality I have no idea what question you're asking that isn't answered by my first response. I'm not sure if you're trying to argue that we'd be happier if we all dispersed, if we'd be happier quitting the game and bitching about it on forums.

Byr, I think if 5+ smaller guilds get together to take down a singular larger guild that's a good thing. Or if one guild with ~100 active players who are dedicated takes a castle from a guild with ~500 active players who are not that good that's a good thing to.

Not trying to argue here, just trying to get a clear picture of why you consider this game rewarding for a large guild is all. All I see in this game are severe limitations for players. You made your point, PRX can have this kind of fun in ANY game it goes to, so limitations are minor speedbumps. *that's what I got from your first and subsequent posts*

Atleast AA has nameplates I guess HAHA.

Seige cap is a 50v50 fight once every 3 weeks.

Ah, I think I understand.

You say that PRX can have this kind of fun in ANY game, what other games are you referring to here?

Isn't siege cap is 50d vs 70 attackers, then after 30m it becomes 70vs70?

"This kind of fun" Is a pretty subjective term, sorry for that. I meant "Active Fun" or "Impactful Fun" to be more specific. It must seem like I'm talking out my ass today.

Take PRX to p99 Red!

They have fishing, boats and nameplates out there too.

I don't really think you understand why new games are fun for people.
You're probably right. Most of these "New" games that have come out in this genre in the last year or so have been complete shit in my opinion.

To be fair AA is new to you, not to me.

FWIW I'm not trying to attack your choice for playing, simply gaining a little more understanding as to why you guys consider this a game worth PRX's time.

Appreciate your responses as always.

You just said the key word there. Dedicated. The fact of the matter is your average player is not. Hell, your average guild is not. At some point smaller and even larger guilds who have no coordination/dedication are just going to up and quit because it's only so much fun banging your head against the wall and playing farmville. At that point, one has to question what's in it for the large/mega guild in the long run if there aren't enough guilds of similar quality to challenge them.

I'm in a "small" guild right now (10-15 people online every night) and we're having fun. We usually do open sea PvP / Freedich / unprotected farms and the usual Hasla stuff. When I'm solo I just gank traderunners (Primeval) or do skirmish PvP in war zones. On our server though, most fatcat guilds are in castle rush mode, they run huge traderuns during late night / early morning to secure castle ressources / gear. They don't really want to PvP, they're just PvE farming the game right now. Fucking with their plans is fun, it's not really competitive but we're happy with that.

On the other hand I understand people complaining about Archeage "looking for PvP" mechanism. Unlike some MMO, in Archeage you have to look for PvP rather than tagging in some instanced zone where everyone gathers to fight. I like the spy / deception stuff between guilds where you have to figure their weak spot / traderoute and fuck with their plans. It's not about money, it's about making a point.

And castle siege is IMO more about metagame than the siege fight itself where you basically hit walls, abusing Wings. Having a castle is nice land wise. Fighting for it is as fun as grinding Hasla for tokens. Again it depends on what server you're playing, and what community is in it. In EU-Dahuta most "hardcore PvP" guilds are AFK fishing, grouping anyone for the buck. They care more about writing some shitty "GOT OUR CASTLE LEL" newspost on their website than doing actual PvP. I'm having more fun raiding their fishermen than fighting zergs in Halcyona. As I said before, it's more about fucking someone shit up.

What do you mean AFK fishing? do you mean fishing via worms, or are they running a sport fishing bot?

Also, what does Halcyona look like on the EU servers? Is it like Kyrios where one side has 400 players participating and the other has 10?

I play with 2 friends, and we are having a lot of fun. We're fairly casual though, we play a lot but we are casual in our approach to the game. One hit 50 a few days ago, the other is 43 or so.

We quest as a group, we just started Rockbourne...we actually skipped most of Ynestere, Halcyon, Hellswamp and Sandkeep because we were not getting any coinpurses. It will probably take us another few weeks to finish the other zones.

We run tradepacks during peacetime, or in safe zones. Sometimes in off peak hours we do intercontinental traderoutes. We have toons on the other side to watch which port is kinda safe.
smile.png

We farm and craft a lot. I make about 200gp+. We'll farm our Hasla weapons when we are all 50 during peacetime, if we bother at all with them and just get crafted ones.

We haven't been lucky with Thunderstruck...so no Farm Cart or Fishing Boat yet...not sure how dangerous fishing is on our server...but we'll see at some point.

We all work together on stuff, pool our ressources together like a guild does just at a much smaller scale...we'll accomplish our goals, at our own pace, and have fun.

While a large guild would make things faster, we're in no rush...and as such haven't felt at any real disadvantage by not being in one...farmwille and peacetime is cool for us to be honest, we do adventure in pvp zone during tension period too, we don't only go during peacetime. We try to avoid war time in general, because we encounter too many organized big groups farming honor...but with so many options it's actually rare that this is an issue.

I'm curious to see how Auroria will be...

Running with three friends myself; not casually, so we're making some significant (in my opinion, given the mechanics of the game) strides in terms of land acquisition and equipment / tradeskills. Didn't know this game existed until less than two weeks ago and purchased my fifth property today. As a financial analyst, I honestly have a shit ton of fun just outplaying the market in my downtime, seeing as most of the folks who price their wares seem to be in a self-destructive race to negligible profitability. I love the fact that, despite mechanics as far as pvp / server conflict are concerned, you can do a lot as a singular individual / small group if you're smart about your decisions, which is a refreshing change of pace.

Edit: For clarity's sake, I'm playing on Ezi; totally different crowd from what it sounds like having read a bit of this thread, so that invariably has a lot to do with it.

Yeah if you can play every night with the same 2-5 people you can have a lot of fun in this game. There's stuff that's either challenging or impossible to do, but you can enjoy most of the game none-the-less.

On Kyrios though it can be much harder. I had a few people ask about transferring from Ezi to Kyrios and join PRX and they say the PvP scene is basically dead there.

50 man raids of fishermen AFK fishing while watching some tv show / movie on the other screen.

On Eu-Dahuta Nuians renounced Halcyona, right now it's just Haranyans rushing crystal, trolling each other with portals / imprisons / lightning. It's as PvE as it can get. They should enforce harsher character creation restrictions.

How do they AFK fish though? You pretty much have to look at the buff and make a choice every ~5 seconds. On Kyrios at least there's a lot of PvP at the eastern fishing holes.

So they're at the keyboard, acting on the system every 5 seconds but watching a movie then? I don't know why you'd call that "away from keyboard".

There's a large group of people on Kyrios that are suspected of using a sport fishing bot, so I wasn't sure if that's what you were saying is going on.

Positive message on hacking from Scapes:

A couple of small suggestions for Trion (Please help me get some GM attention) : archeage

On the subjects themselves, we've made no secret that we've ramped up CS 3x of what it previously was, and that we're well over 100k bans at this point. (I've seen notifications of at least 3500 today so far, and the day's young - That's a fairly typical day.) Ticket response times are down to half of what they were previously, and we're still getting them faster. We're catching up on more every day too. Banning for bots/hack/spam/&fraud is done at multiple levels, multiple times per hour - Three shifts of teams, it's a 24/7 effort. And new methods are being developed every day.
I've been pretty critical of their handling but this is good news. They should have hired that 3x CS pre-release, but late is better than never.
