Do the non PRX crew want to start up a guild, at least until PRX decides what they're doing with ArcheAge recruitment? I don't really care which faction I play on but wouldn't mind rolling with some familiar faces.

LOL @ $150 founder bullshit to get into alpha/beta.

The gaming industry is fucking fleecing people left and right with this shit and yet we all still bend over like good little schoolgirls and take the dick up our collective asses.

We now pay for demos

We pay for beta

We pay for alpha

We pay subs

Buy in game items

And yet all these games are F2P supposedly.

If this game was a peice of shit I'd agree with you, however:

This is the best $150 I've spent on a video game in a while, this game has a lot of things going for it.

Much more than other recent releases.

Does anyone need their flowers watered!?

Im not mad, Im sad that fools like you eat this shit up like candy. The more you give them the more they take. I dont mind spending money on games, fuck, I probably drop a few grand a year on gaming, but this? This is just going too far IMO.

I had no intention of making you sad when I made this purchase, sorry about that my man, I'll work on sparing your feelings next time.

In the mean time, this game is pretty cool. Wish you could play it and see. Enjoy your Lolli-Poppy skin in league.

Having a good time, trying to get to the mining nodes before another player is a game to itself.

I fucked up on my first garden planting outside my red square on the scarecrow radius. My plants were stolen but lesson learned. My wife got a good chuckle when she heard me cussing over losing plants and learning I was playing a game where I was gardening.

IMO Founder packs are here to stay for MMOs that are F2P at launch. I played Neverwinter at launch and they offered a $60 package that seemed like it was worth the money at the time.

A $150 package for this game will be worth the money if you are 1) having fun and 2) will still be having fun 3 months after the game launches while you still have Patron status.

I haven't bought the $150 package yet but I am definitely playing this game at launch. If I can convince myself I won't get burned out on the game before it actually launches then I will be more inclined to pull the trigger.

Finding detailed info. on some of this stuff is not very easy. I guess it is just too new to NA. If anyone runs across any site with detailed crafting info (recipe list with mats etc..,) could someone post the URL? Also, was looking for more specifics on what exactly the perks were for each profession being taken to max. (for example, max mining I believe gives the ability to mine some high quality nodes on the central pvp island). Since each character is only allowed 2 max level skills, it sounds like it is very much worthwhile to talk to your guild to coordinate those choices so that at least one person has each of the skills specialized. It would kinda suck to be in a big guild who was doing well only to realize nobody is maxed out on the skill that builds the guild castle or something.

*edit* Just found out Apostle is a class.. Aww yeah

Some of us are just in the lucky situation to have money to burn. Some people spend thousands on guns, some spend money on cars, some spend hundreds on their hair and other hobbies. I say if you can afford I don't begrudge how you spend your money.

Define what you mean by "good execution"? Does that mean abilities fire off when you press the button and each ability has unique WoW quality animations?
What's important for me about combat is that it's responsive, abilities go off when you press the buttons.

That animations are fluid and matches well with the button presses.

That there is weight behind the abilities...I shield slam, I wanna hear a big "thunck" sound and I want see a good animation that makes me feel like I just slam my shield into someone's face.

And just overall a good flow to the combat.

The part I dislike, is that you get abilities very slowly in this game...at 32, I have 6 buttons to press in combat...2 of which are on long cooldown, 30sec+, and 2 on medium cooldown 5-15secs, and only 2 that I can spam...so combat is 12345611111111 for the most part. It's not too bad on normal mobs because they fast, but a bit annoying on longer fights. At least I can hold 1 down and ability just autoattack. Mind you, I did get about 5 ot 6 passive, so experience might be different for someone who choses more active vs passive than I did.

Also my Paladin in game is a boss.

Resco, if you do get in Alpha, give me permission to water your plants bro.
Are you implying I would be a crappy farmer and let stuff die due to my limited playtime?

I am curious to know how the whole Labor point system works. All I know so far is you accumulate them per minute while you are logged in. I believe if you have patron status you also accumulate them while offline.

Does your labor point total dictate how much crafting you can do? Does watering a plant, harvesting a node, crafting a weapon etc all require different amounts of labor points?

Yeah, I had a trade route quest to do, and needed to make Strawberry Jam. And I need 100 strawberries to make it.

So I plant my strawberries, water them and go to bed. It takes about 2-3 hours for the strawberry to be ready.

I woke up Sunday morning, and I'm short 4 fucking strawberries, I only gathered 96. And i say out loud, "fuck I am short 4 strawberries". My reaction made me laugh.

Then I end up buying 4, make the jam...and start carrying my pack. First thing, don't get on your horse or mount, I think it's slower than walking when carrying a pack. At about the halfway point, I see someone pass me with his pack...he has a donkey and it's going 2-3 times faster than I am...and again my reaction is "I need a fucking donkey.". I mean who the hell wants a donkey...well I guess I do. So the plan for tonight is to raise a damn donkey.

This is definitely the part I wanted to experience before release so I can better prepare for launch.

150 makes me laugh. the in game cash makes it a bit more palatable though.

My thoughts on economy.
People throwing money way, doesn't bother me from the "wasted money" point of view. its commerce. money sitting in a bank is wasted. (technically given out as loans) Money spent is money going to someone elses hands. QA testers, devs, art teams, etc.

Its nosy, but it does trouble me personally seeing it though sometimes. Over the years, my time spent at a guild leader, in various games. I have seen people ruin their lives over gaming compulsion. Child neglect, financial neglect, social ties broken. Companies taking advantage of that compulsion is very disturbing. I have "witnessed" 1 suicide, 3 divorces, 1 suicide attempt, and countless good old fashion withdrawals. People so willing to throw money away is disturbing. It is not a sign of making good choices, it is a sign of addiction/compulsion.

People do spend alot on hobbies. But very few of those other hobbies are specifically designed to be compulsive. and even less of them are monetized to take advantage of that compulsion.
Gambling is the only other one really.

And maybe you guys are the exception. money to burn, and its totally not something that consumes your life.
Ok, great for you. Are you suggesting you are the player they are targeting for this? how many of YOU are there?

You get a donkey from like the 2nd traderoute quest, not sure how you missed it. Donkey is slower than other mounts but is a lot faster if you're carrying a pack. You can also use carrots to get massive speed boosts for 1minute. Other mounts you definitely don't want to mount with a tradepacks, they're slower than foot speed. Well besides the Yata, which is pretty fast with tradepacks and also pretty fast without, but only has one skill and costs 5g.

Whole travel thing is pretty well done. There's a lot of travelling, but the instant travel options are limited and more importantly expensive early game. Eventually I'm sure you can have thousands of hereafter stones and you don't care too much but early game, stones are expensive and farming them is time consuming so you don't teleport too much, which means you either walk to places, or use the public transportation system. So you end up waiting for airships and shit like that, it's pretty different than recent games.

I remember playing a text adventure MUD-type, think it was called Dragonstone or something like that, where one of the classes you could be was a trader. The entirety of your class consisted of going from city to city, picking up goods and taking them to another location to sell. Each location had a stock market like trading station that constantly changed what goods were worth. Oddly enough it was pretty fun.

So the plan for tonight is to raise a damn donkey
I'll take "Things you never thought you'd say when playing an MMO" for $200 Alex.

I haven't done the 2nd trade route quest yet. Glad to know I'm gonna get a donkey.

Yeah the traveling is well done, and while it's either time consuming or expensive...it makes sense in the context of the game, where they want to have trade routes, and all that stuff.

I did complete my jury quest last night, hoping to receive an invite to jury duty tonight and see how that works out.
