How was he dpsing? What level where you guys?
I'm not sure, I don't know what tree's he had talents in but he was almost one shoting the Pyro's in the Palace Cellar. He was 25 I think.

EDIT: Sutehk, how did you get those unit frames in your screenshot relocated above the hotbar? I scanned over the options but didn't see a place for it.

So it turns out there's a serious way to abuse game mechanics...

Reading that made me think about what the turn around time will be for Trion asking XL Games for a change and us getting that change patched in.
I don't think it works like that.

I'd assume that they have a system in place where they grab the latest builds from XL Games and apply patches on top of those builds to form what NA plays. So they could fix this on their side fairly quick and shouldn't have to ask XL Games anything.

I mostly deal with boring business apps, but this is a fairly common scenario when you're using several open source products that don't quite cover everything. You build a bunch of tests, you add your changes on top of a package and you run your test suite. When the open source package updates, you use your testing environments to pull / patch / run the test suite and fix what fails. Repeat until you're tired of updating.

At least Trion is aware of the exploit, even to the point of sort of expecting it to happen. In a game like this there is a need for a few safety nets and being able to get around them is problematic and will drive people away.

This board is usually good at this but you guys are failing me right now. I need someone to please discourage me from buying this game, this looks amazing but it's 150$!

In the RU client I hold Shift and just drag the UI frames. I assume that wouldn't change between versions.

Eh, I'm familiar with those practices, but ArcheAge isn't an open source project and Trion isn't its developer. I imagine Trion to be a translator in addition to publisher for the West, at the most, and code modifications are going to be done by XL Games. No game from the East AFAIK, from Lineage to TERA, has had code modification done by their western publishers.

If you need more than paying double standard box price on a F2P game where everything will be wiped in 2-3 months to discourage you, I dunno man.

edit: actually, after looking at the perks for the $150, it doesn't seem too bad... assuming you are the type of person who spends money on a cash shop

Can anyone provide some info on the bloodlust buff (CTRL-F)? If you kill someone from your own faction, what's stopping you from turning it off so you become safe? Or am I missing something completely here?

Also when can you start killing people in your own faction? Is it once you are outside the starter map (where you get your own farm and shit?)

I love the bipolar nature of this post. ;D

$150 would be rough for alpha access to a F2P game, but who the fuck am I to judge when I spent $100 on Landmark. I got the Russian client going and did the English patch which seems to have screwed everything up and now the game won't launch. Maybe I shouldn't have done that.

I can't shake the feeling that this is going to be a bot-ridden hot mess of a pvp clusterfuck.

Sorry, a fun bot-ridden hot mess of a pvp clusterfuck. For maybe a month or two.

I get the same feeling. I would still drop $60 to give it a whirl. Camon' Trion, lower the price!

Bloodlust Toggling lets you target friendlies in the "Conflict" zones (unprotected non peace time 30+ zones) and inflict damage. This will flag your name purple and will take 30 seconds (Depending on action) to unflag back to green named. Being purple and commiting crimes will leave blood stains or foot prints at the crimes location, and can be reported by nearby friendlies for up to I think 12 hours.

At the time of the reports submission, you will incur a criminal point increase relevant to the crime commited, inflicting pvp dmg will leave blood stains which incur you 1 criminal point, I believe theft is the second most crime incursion, murdering being the most heinous crime.

Being green while doing any of these pvp actions is considered lawful and will not inflict crime points, nor is it reportable. Stealing will not flag you purple I don't think, at least I haven't seen it flag me purple yet.

Instances where you can do things and stay green:

- Someone dies and drops a trade-run resource pack, it is then globally available for anyone to take.
- An open world (non farm-land) planted item that goes beyond the 24 hour ownership criminal protection is free to take without incurring reportable criminal points.
- Fighting someone who flags (bloodlust modes) on you first
- Fighting any purple named player while remaining green
- Stealing someone's boat (I believe is not a crime for some reason, as they get the boat back later, it's mainly just a troll action or a trade pack stealing situation)
- Fighting or fucking with any red named enemy of the opposing factions will not count as criminal activity

Again most of this stuff won't be relevant til 30+ and in unprotected zones, stealing open world planted non farmland protected crops will incur criminal points at the time of reporting.

Hope this helps clear stuff up for you.

Ah thanks for that. I thought you could attack friendlies before the 30+ zones, just no in the starter zone.

Absolutely every trade route in every zone after the noobie field would be camped by bandits, you would have a hell of a time trying to get your large farm quest routes done if this were the case.

So vit , what happened? You and glow deleted your characters(no longer on friends list and farms turned).

On a side not I found a fun new hobby when bored, try to find AFK mount levelers and push them into the ocean, since most of them are on mirage it just severely limits the "distanced traveled" which is how the mount levels. If they are out in the actual world(but in a safe zone) can push them into mobs or the ocean and if the ocean drag them out to sea :p

The game has very little hack prevention and a lot of the game is client side.

Hacks, cheats, dupes, bots, exploits - Q to developers (Scapes)

i'm glad i saw this before deciding to pay $150. now ill just wait till free to play.
I'm curious to know how the botters/gold sellers are going to operate in this game. Crafting resources are primarily grown on your farm, not harvested in the open world. I don't see how they are going to be able to bot the harvesting of crafting resources. On top of that, you have to pay for patron status in order to own the property required for farming.

BTW when you launch the game an application called Hackshield launches before the game launches. I don't know what all it is doing behind the scenes to prevent hacking, duping etc but it does appear Trion is trying to do something to combat it. Is Hackshield also part of the Korean and Russia versions?
