Happens a lot more often now. People burn them selves out on the games prior to it releasing, with so many "buy to play alpha/beta".It'd be more epic but I think Raes quit very soon after AA was released. Like many people he spent more time preparing for a game than playing it when it was released. For more examples of this please see the Star Citizen, Camelot Unchained and Crowfall threads.
Yep. It's why I pretty much stay away from it and advise anyone I want to play with to do the same. It's one thing if you want to experience a really raw game in a constantly changing state, but I think people get hyped on alphas and think they're going to play it for years when it comes out.Happens a lot more often now. Not sure I would say "buy-in alpha/beta" is exclusive.People get a lot of joy of playing something that is exclusive. .
LOL. Uh, no. I did take a break for a few weeks when the economy was out of control, and only logged in long enough to make enough gold on my farm to buy my monthly apex. I am only level 53, cuz grinding the library makes me want to shoot myself. But, we are running Serpentis daily, and hunting reds nightly. It'd be more epic but I think Raes quit very soon after AA was released. Except ArcheAge alpha was way better than beta or live. More competitive and more fun.Yep. It's why I pretty much stay away from it and advise anyone I want to play with to do the same. Oh cool, who are you on West? Are you with Aquanauts?LOL. Uh, no. I played in Alpha to learn the game, and I don't get burned out. I do get tired of Trion and XL butchering a game with so much potential, but at least a few things seemed to be improving.
That's true and a problem I think. ESO was the same way, the alpha was better than release. It's hard to imagine it being more competitive though.Except ArcheAge alpha was way better than beta or live. More competitive and more fun.
Castle sieges were more balanced in Alpha. Several castles changed hands. There was no level 55 and it was before the Battlerage, Shadowplay, and HP changes that was supposed to increase TtK but in fact made everyone die a lot faster. That's true and a problem I think. Yeah, I'm an officer in Aquanaut.Oh cool, who are you on West? Are you with Aquanauts?
Yeah the castle changes into release were an awful idea. I was more commenting on how in alpha I think people played less seriously. Then again people's willingness to gear up makes the game less competitive because people who generate a lot of wealth lay waste to everyone else. And I say this as someone with celestial/divine gear.Castle sieges were more balanced in Alpha. Several castles changed hands. What's your ign?Yeah, I'm an officer in Aquanaut.
Maybe PRX played less seriously, but Wicked, Forestcrow, and OT were going HAM, with a little bit of involvement from TWO and Bushi.Yeah the castle changes into release were an awful idea. I was more commenting on how in alpha I think people played less seriously.
I'm pretty tolerant of bullshit in MMOs, tbh. Can't imagine trying to jump into the game brand new. The gear gap has to be pretty insane.
You keep asking me that. Why does it matter? I'm curious. What's your ign?
AA is a lot of fun but there's two big problems:I'm pretty tolerant of bullshit in MMOs, tbh.
I'm not sure I would play regularly or anything, I just figure if I give it a shot at some point, I'd rather be on a server with some people I might know rather than alone.
Oh, I didn't know that was a thing. You're on the same server as I am, so I was curious. You keep asking me that. Why does it matter? I'm curious.
