The $150 is really a waste if you fall under the following:

1) A person who play beyond the first month.

That's really it. If you want to get a feel for the game you can easily go play the Russian version. The game is solid, already released and pretty much bug free. You know all those people who say, "I'm going to wait a few months so the bugs get ironed out"? Well this is perfect for them. They have a solid game AND the new MMO smell/rush to play with. As others have mentioned, you're getting a 3 month sub with the pack, you're getting TrionBucks to play around with which I'm sure will be worth it (look to Rift for examples I suppose).

Anyway, you're essentially looking at $30 upgrade for in game items, early access and alpha access since you theoretically get the rest of the value back. $30 isn't much for me, and is worth the cost I think.

Ah well. Some people will hate.

I was in for $150, with 2 kids and a third on the way I'm not sure how much play I'll get out of it but so far I'm having fun. I hear it really opens up after level 20 or 30 and becomes really sandboxy, but it already feels more open at level 10 then any of the prior games I've played recently.

I agree with the opening up at 30, I just hit 29 on my paladin, I spend entirely too much time watering plants.

I love it though.

Yes, I haven't gotten to farming yet, but knowing myself I will become completely lost in that lol. I had fun cutting down everyone's trees during that like level 5 quest where you have to grow one.

LOL, are you guys in a guild? I was in the forum guild for TERA and that was pretty fun until I went away for a week and it had broken up or something lol.
Yes, recruitment seems closed atm though so I can't comment on it much, sorry babe.

Gotta know someone to get somewhere these days.

150 makes me laugh. the in game cash makes it a bit more palatable though.

My thoughts on economy.
People throwing money way, doesn't bother me from the "wasted money" point of view. its commerce. money sitting in a bank is wasted. (technically given out as loans) Money spent is money going to someone elses hands. QA testers, devs, art teams, etc.

Its nosy, but it does trouble me personally seeing it though sometimes. Over the years, my time spent at a guild leader, in various games. I have seen people ruin their lives over gaming compulsion. Child neglect, financial neglect, social ties broken. Companies taking advantage of that compulsion is very disturbing. I have "witnessed" 1 suicide, 3 divorces, 1 suicide attempt, and countless good old fashion withdrawals. People so willing to throw money away is disturbing. It is not a sign of making good choices, it is a sign of addiction/compulsion.

People do spend alot on hobbies. But very few of those other hobbies are specifically designed to be compulsive. and even less of them are monetized to take advantage of that compulsion.
Gambling is the only other one really.

And maybe you guys are the exception. money to burn, and its totally not something that consumes your life.
Ok, great for you. Are you suggesting you are the player they are targeting for this? how many of YOU are there?
150 really not alot to me I can't speak for other people but 150 doesn't even buy my seat on my bicycle what if I told you that my seat cost $350 or my bike is worth more than some people cars are you going to give me that horse shit speech..

It's a hobby or leisure activity if your spend beyond your means that your issue. If you make it spend how you want. Value is not the same to everybody and income level being one of the decieding factors. Sorry you witness that bullshit but you can't save people from them self if it isn't video games it something else it's called addictive thinking and their going to get theirs

The amount of money does not bother me. I already told you guys that I spend way more than that, thousands a year on games, between me and my 2 pre-teen boys that like their games as well. I just dont like the way the game business is heading. Everything is going F2P in where it costs you more than buying the damned thing for $60 and spending $15 a month. They have fucking doctors/psychologists on staff to design those systems to squeeze the most amount of money from you now. Its not even a fair fight.

I'm willing to bet the number of people on this forum who whine and complain about MMOs still having subscriptions far outweigh the number of people who support the subscription model. F2P just seems to be the future for every MMO now regardless of whether it is a good game or not. BTW when AAge was released in Korea it required a subscription and a lot of people are saying that is the main reason it did not do well.

Your Mona Lisa graphic is spot on though.

Shouldn't there be a "won't" in between "who" and "play"?

do you spent $150 3 times a year for access to the prototype for new bike seats?

I might stream some later tonight, but I've decided that hence forth my leveling process shall be retold in the annals of history as the rise of Catbeard the Pirate. Soon the galley shall be completed and a plundering we will go.

My GF spends a lot more than $150 for that kind of shit.

$120 for prototype butt shorts, the analogy isn't quite based though as most of these things have solid-ass return policies.

LOL @ $150 founder bullshit to get into alpha/beta.

The gaming industry is fucking fleecing people left and right with this shit and yet we all still bend over like good little schoolgirls and take the dick up our collective asses.

We now pay for demos

We pay for beta

We pay for alpha

We pay subs

Buy in game items

And yet all these games are F2P supposedly.
Lemme get this straight. You where willing to spend $45 dollars and possibly more for a game concept scribbled on a fucking napkin in one of the most unprofessional Kickstarters OF ALL TIME, yet people willing to pay $150 for AN ACTUAL FUCKING GAME are taking it up the ass?

Rerolled

Agreed, I've come to the conclusion that some of the most flagrant of people on this forum are also the most casual. It's a bummer really, I'd love to take them seriously, for entertainment's sake.
