People ate it up back then. Who knows? James Cameron makes great movies, even if I hate his politics. Maybe it will either be the ruling zeitgeist, we will all be tired of it, or it will be banned after the coming civil war, for either being too far Left or not Left enough, depending on who wins.

"White men" were not treated as all encompassing evil (even if there were evil white men in the movie). Avatar was just white man / capitalism bashing.

First one was fine for what it was. Obviously the general story/plot was a generic noble savage trope kind of thing, but it was fine for what it was. It's just a basic plot to show off the setting, animals, etc.

Furry's wet dream aside, it was nothing special. the CGI in the sequel is gonna have to be mind blowing this time to beat the MCU and Pixar's effects.

Honestly it is going to come down to the 3D. 3D sales were what made up a large part of Avatar's box office pull. If they can make it a "omgwtfthisfeelsreal" experience, then they'll get people in the theaters.

I like how the Navi where able to live in large groups of hundreds of people without any sanitation or health issues. Guess highly deadly diseases like Malaria or Ebola never evolved on Pandora.

He at least got his own TV after that which was basically Avatar, that weird thing like on another planet or the future or something with dinosaurs or something? Lasted like ten episodes.

... Sam Worthington sure disappeared.

Terra Nova was ok. They seemed to be setting up a real "land of the lost" style 2nd season with the way they ended the first one.
