You think Black Widow was cast perfectly? Serious question.

I think there are several women with the acting chops who would be a little bit of physical training away from executing that role. Many have already been mentioned in this thread. To me, the main issue I have is that this is another "Black Widow" thing where they are casting someone's casting couch eye candy instead of getting someone who can act to fill in that part. It has been the downfall of many superhero movies for a while, actually.

Other than Gina Carano being mentioned I didn't see any other casting choices for WW, not sure she would be the answer either, physically she's Amazonian but last I looked WW for the most part is depicted in the comics as athletic slender not body builder.

I'm a fan of Black Widow from the old Miller DD days and I've never been a huge fan of Scarlett but she did ok, I remember Emily Blunt being in the running for the role but she's as slightly built as Gal Gadot. Problem is WW is probably the most famous of the female Superheros and if your of a certain age group Lynda Carter is your ideal WW. It's a hard role to cast and I'm sure a lot of major actress's would pass on the role. Heh I remember Sandra Bullock name being thrown around 10 or so years ago as a casting choice.

I'm trying hard to think of big name female heroes and other than Black Widow, I get Halle as Storm, Famke as Jean Grey and Jennifer Garner as Elektra.

Are you kidding? They should have never looked at anyone but Jessica Beil. Should have broke the bank to get her to take the role.

I am not sure you need to break the bank to hire Jessica Biel... I would have picked Adrianne Palicki (5'11") myself (who was the casting choice for the Wonder Woman TV serie too - though the low production value made her look a bit silly in the part). How old is Wonder Woman supposed to be? Lucy Lawless could play the part too.

Catwoman was well played by Anne Hathaway I thought, though the script was shit. Scarlett Johanson was sexy as Black Widow, first I'd heard of the character though so don't know what she should be like but it's Scarlett Johanson who needs to be in more films.

Depends who you ask. DC is kindof retardedly anachronistic.
"we only make books for 35-55 year old males."
"no one can identify with a married 30+ year old superman, etc."

Reboots keep deaging them. And they get younger ever reboot.
Wonder woman is 19 at the start of nu52. Superman and Batman are like 23.
There is a 5 year time shift, making her 24 or so, and them 28.

Kindof absurdly young.

Eh Belluci may be one of the world's finest looking women but she's pushing fifty. McGowan not even sure how to respond to that and Eva Green is fantastic but I don't see her as WW. Jamie Alexander is busy playing Sif and I can't see Warner's grabbing a high profile marvel actress. I thought Adrienne Palicki was a good casting choice for the tv show.

Jessica Biel was offered the role years ago and passed. Besides I think they have a deal with Gal that she can be replaced if she doesn't work out well in the movie.

We'll I heard she's doing a guest spot on The Shield tv show and a spot in the upcoming Avengers, I'd say other than Black Widow she's the most recognizable female hero unless you count Pepper Potts

I think most Marvel studios actors have a non-compete, and can't do WB/DC films.


Rose mcgowen is a terrible actress.
I would be pretty ok with Biel, Kate from lost, Jamie Alexander if she wasn't tied to Sif, I think.

I don't disagree at all with your opinion. My point is that literally any of those choices, flawed as they are, would be better than Gadot. Holy fuck is she terribad. I never really watched any of the F&F movies, but my lesbian sister in law loves her some Michelle Rodrigues, so she was watching a marathon of that shit on Netflix this weekend. Jesus Christ is she terrible in even that limited capacity role. But hey, lets put her in the highest profile female role of the hopeful flagship competitor to the Avengers franchise and see how that goes!

Eh again I'm not too worried, no one knows how big her role in the movie is and her contract is an option for the movies, if she's so bad they could replace her I'm guessing. If it was the actual WW movie I'd be a bit worried but it's a cameo from what I've read. Who knows though?

Jessica Biel, Adrianne Palicki, Evangeline Lily, hell even Kate Beckinsale, would have all be better choices.
They already miscast the rest of the heroes though, so what does it matter at this point anyways.

I seem to remember Joss Whedon saying after he was pulled off the Wonder Woman movie, that he was going to use Cobie Smulders. Looks like she was the voice of Wonder Woman in The Lego Movie.

She doesn't look anything like the type I would want either. I don't know that she's much bigger than Gadot really too.
