lmfaooooo

how the fuk does that even work, does she just take it all off and spit on him, or what

probably my favorite Chevelle video. Cars these days just don't seem to capture that brute force.

that's because vehicles today are EV, or hybrid, they're just trash overall, even the fully traditional gas cars are crap, I.E. whoever is designing BMWs for instance, should be hanged

lmaooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo i love it

In a just world, anybody and everybody who trashed the earth should be forced to do hard labor cleaning.

I would flog the shit out of any one caught littering, dead srs. People that litter are worse than animals. That's why I loved it when they lashed that one dick head in Singapore for littering.
So perfect for the average miscer? :)

Edit : LOL, just checked it out, what a shit show over there - it's literally like everyone who was a tosser on the misc found their way over there, and no one else did.
great description of the site - I wonder if fully Asian Elliot Rodger went to Home Depot yet.

I happened across this video that covers a ton about the graphical decline in modern games, plus even more reasoning why Digital Foundry is trash and helping to lower people's standards on what is acceptable from these companies.

Another side to it that I was thinking about is how consoles basically create these large, segmented gaps of hardware and the graphical fidelity standards for those users where they simply are never going to see the full potential of the exact same games.

So, all this time someone like myself might have been playing PS4/Xbone games at settings that were and sitll are visually breathtaking given the time they were released, but PS4 and Xbox users really only experienced a cut down version to run on their hardware.

When the PS5 and Xbox-whatever came out, the "jump" was actually pretty meh, and the Monster Hunter Wilds versus MH:World example he briefly brings up in that video sums it up nicely: there was already a wall developers were running into, which you could see with the right hardware (PC version vs consoles), so now they're at the impasse where currently available hardware really struggles to push past it without involving frame regeneration, resolution scaling, or Temporal Anti-Aliasing (smearing vs sharp images).

Yeah man I usually don't get much time to play but I put 50 hrs in a short few weeks and beat it last night. Anyway, great stuff and the NG+ content is said to be meaty. Since the gameplay is so fun I'm definitely having another run this year.

Nice breakdown on the issue of visuals these days but do you also think a part of it just comes from dev laziness?
Dev laziness is absolutely a huge factor because optimization, visual design, story and character writing, and every other component to a video game not only takes skill, but the capacity to actually do it.

I think one good example to illustrate the difference with things like technological shortcuts is that they have been a critical part to advancing the medium by coming up with tricks to overcome other limitations like set console hardware or what any given engine was capable of doing. These are the sort of workarounds done by highly skilled individuals/teams who wanted to see their vision realized. A lot of modern game devs? They'd rather be jerking off their pronouns on social media and piss off the people who buy games.

Even with the eastern studios. For example, Square tried to do Final Fantasy 16 in a modified version of their old ass MMO engine. Even Rebirth which was on unreal 4 was so poorly optimized for that open world, and the graphics are mid PS4 level at best. Then we have Capcom using the RE engine for Monster Hunter Wilds, and the consensus is while it's good for linear games, it struggles when it comes to open world.

They then use raytracing because baked in lighting takes too much work. Slap on some Denuvo or whatever anti-cheat software they have and it feels like devs are then just ready to call it a day. They're probably thinking ah, fuk it... We'll just hope people's beefy GPUs have enough overhead to brute force it into a playable state.
Square is a really interesting case because from what I've understood, they're flat out horribly mismanaged, rushing unfinished products out the door, followed trends without backing their products up with substance, they've been far too late with their known brands for enough people to care, and their budgets are are overshooting what realistic sales can recover after hedging their bets on under performing tent-pole games.

It's easy to forget (I sure did) that Square published Marvel games like the Avengers wannabe GAAS that shut down, Forspoken which memed itself out of existence, Foamstars/Temu Splatoon, and they've sold off major studios and lost some of their most well known IPs like Tomb Raider, Deus Ex, Hitman, and more for just $300 million to Embracer, which then closed those studios anyway.

What's left is Square expecting/praying that Final Fantasy could carry them as their most recognizable IP*, however, the absurdly high dev costs for constantly delayed development, as well as exclusivity contracts that limited their total audience have caught up with them. Now they're no longer bothering with the latter beyond what their existing contracts dictate, so they're trying to pivot their entire corporate philosophy amidst the stumbling.

*For a real laugh, go to page 10 of Square's 2025-2027 business plan; those are the IPs that they think define their studio now. Like I completely forgot that they own Nier Automata when they do nothing with it, and Life Is Strange is an abject woke failure.

“The problem is that [the Final Fantasy] brand was not selling to what the product’s budget needed it to be. Part of this is going to be resolved by going multiplatform. And part of the problem is simply greater competition that isn’t recoverable from. Today, FF14 and F2P mobile titles are subsidizing the fixed price titles, further indicating where consumers are willing to spend the most time and money within the [Square Enix] family of titles.”

That last link is worth just skimming to see how screwed up Square Enix is as a company, and their "plan" for the next few years is kind of a joke, like "Shift from quantity to quality, Delivering ensured 'Fun.'"

What? Do they mean not making shitty cash grab slop that is misery to play? As for what "quantity" they're talking about is beyond me when they've sold off a large part of their catalogue, which I guess leaves their retro remasters of quesionable quality, but those shouldn't even be affecting their mainstay development.

The irony behind Square's stated goal is that they already invests an exorbitant amount of time and money chasing "quality," like they're trying to one-up themselves over anything else, while still not seeming to get that the true arbiter of quality in the end is the consumer.

When the last two Final Fantasy games "failed to meet expectations," what the average person fails to understand is not that the figures are unrealistic. Rather, Square's development costs need those sales expectations, i.e. profit, because their current model is unsustainable and how Square develops games is unrealistic.

Sinistkir13 Sinistkir13 I saw that video posted on retardera and the posters there were mad as hell for him going after DF.

Gotta say, those DF dorks started annoying me a long time ago when all they could talk about was "muh waytwathing". I'm a layman when it comes to graphics so it felt really odd hearing them use the "buzzword" with such regard yet not elaborating on how or why it was an improvement.

It's like... There could be two games, one uses raytracing and looks 7.5/10, and one uses meticulous baked lighting techniques to look solid 9/10.... Yet the raytraced game would get all the praise just by virtue of using the newer method.

On another interesting note as I'm done with SB, tonight I saw FF16 went on sale for $32 so I figured I'd give it a go. Don't want to be like mgftp and talk too much chit about things I never even tried myself. Will report back soon with initial impressions.

I never liked those DF dorks. I always thought of them as those turbo-nerds who overanalyze things trying to use as much industry jargon as possible to make their bullshit sound like fact. I mean it really isn't that hard to tell whether you think graphics look good or not, and you don't need to be pausing frames and analyzing them under a microscope trying to detect whatever tech they've been using to figure that out. Like they always seemed to spend so much time micro-analyzing things that I would never care about or notice when all I do is look at how a game looks to me in action and I can easily decide for myself whether or not that looks good.

I think they really popularized making a big deal about effects technology as opposed to just simply enjoying how a game looks. They always seemed to be popular among the type of gamer nerds who take this kinda shit way too seriously and try to make academic statements about them or some shit to win arguments on the internet. It's just always been so stupid to me.

While I've never seen a single thing that I can recall from Digital Foundry, gaming advertisements media really started pushing graphic quality as the most important aspect of games, to the almost exclusion of everything else, back in the early 2000s. The console-tards seemed to eat that shit up even more than PC gamers and now a whole generation was raised on OMGs the graphics is all we care about.

Today, in a large part due to this mindset and companies like EA pouring money into gaming "journalism" (so they can pump out the same game with "better" graphics every year) we have a AAA & AAAA gaming market that is 95% shit.
