Gus was a fan favorite, moreso than tuco and we already got tuco.
It's always weird to read BB threads and mentally stumble when someone mentions Tuco out of no where.
Chuck blowing up because of the propane is a little too on the nose for a Vince Gilligan show. Besides, Chuck has presumably been using propane for most of the time he's been sick. It's not like Jimmy runs to his house every time he needs something lit or cooked.
I agree. I just think something is getting blown up by that propane and loose wires even if it doesn't kill Chuck.

Well.. pretty sure that's against the law, as he's been hired on as the lawyer for the elderly clients, not his own personal case. So, they might be able to just report it and have the case thrown out, losing nothing. Or, if not, he'd be in a world of shit and be proving his brother right as well. I realize your comment was mostly a joke, just pointing out that there are some protections in place that kind of tie Jimmy's hands in terms of what he can and can't do.
But the 2 million settlement would benefit his clients, they'd get the overcharged money back, plus their share of the settlement?

I did like how Chuck pissed on an American Samoa diploma the same week John Oliver made a piece about American Samoa and other extraterritorial states.

He'd have to get his clients to agree to that settlement, then Saul would only get his % of that amount. If he's not the legal counsel anymore, then he can't do that. The previous comment was made as a way for Saul to screw over HHM, but there's no way to really do that. He can either just handle the case, try to get his clients some money and he'll make a decent chunk of change.. or go for the much bigger payoff, but he probably doesn't have the resources to do that, so he'd have to give it up to HHM. He'd make way more in that case, so if he just wants money then he lets them handle it. If he wants to handle it himself, yes, he could discuss a settlement.
The way the previous person worded it, it sounded like they thought Saul could just get the other lawfirm and say 'hey, gimme 2 million and I'll make the case go away', which is what I was saying couldn't really happen.

Why cant saul go for a quick settlement? thats how most of these end up. a quick settlement everyone wins. it would take little effort to have all the parties involved sign off on it and saul will likely get half of whatever he takes in. the downside is that these old folks are signing off and have no recourse to ask for more. now if the company continues the way they are and new folks wish to sue, then its on them.

Just watched the first 3 episodes - surprised by how much it has me hooked. It's maybe a bit much with how many of the BB characters they're squeezing in so early, but I'm still really enjoying the show. It's got a bit of the flavor of BB, but it's own unique feel to it, hope the rest of the season is this good.

It actually seemed like Hamlin was wishful he could help Jimmy and that's why he snapped off before he reveled what happened behind closed doors.
i think his conscience got the better of him, in that he knows the person in front of him (Kim) is asking "DUDE WTF", is asking as Jimmys friend. He probably had to eat so much crow and shit from Chuck, that he just couldn't take it anymore and felt that, at least Kim deserved to know, but knew she'd keep her mouth shut.

And she did, she just told Jimmy to take the deal, b/c hearing what Hamlin told her, she could never tell the truth to Jimmy (cuz we saw how the truth crushed his inner core), and she took on the role of company lapdog.

LoL, that Kevin Costner picture is gold. I love that little shit the put in there.

I agree, pretty underwhelming. I'm glad I was right about Hamlin, I like his character but it's a nice dynamic to have him have to cater to Chuck. All this things we hated about him just got redirected at Chuck and not he looks even worse. Sucks we have to wait a year to find out what's going to happen...which is par for the course but the fact they gave us so little in this episode other than seeing that sparked Jimmy to take the first steps in becoming Saul right at the very end (which technically is what the show is about I guess) made it worse than the usual final cliffhanger.

This felt like GOT, where all the "meat" happens up to eps9 and 10 is just a sendoff.

Damnit.. He CAN go for a quick settlement, that wasn't what we were discussing.

The first comment I responded to basically said 'I'd like to see Jimmy call up the other law firm and go 'hey, gimme 2 million and I'll make this go away' implying that they pay him off specifically and he'd make the case disappear, and his clients would get nothing, he'd pocket the whole 2 mil. He can't do THAT was what I was saying. If he wants to get the lawsuit settled for a few million, he still might be able to do that, but he probably gets a bit less then half that amount. Instead, he chose to go for the bigger payday, down the line, and a little up front cash.

I did like finding out that Hamlin wasn't a bad guy, or at least he seemed to send off Jimmy with a little bit of respect. It could've been all bullshit, because LOL LAWYERS, but I felt like his hands were truly tied and he was the one that always had to do Chuck's dirty work. It's a little bit of a shame, as in the beginning I thought Chuck was a good dude.. but he is not.

They probably had this season planned and written to stand well enough on it's own just in case it didn't get picked up for any additional seasons while still leaving some unresolved plot lines they could advance if AMC ordered more (which obviously they did).

Depends on your perspective. Chuck is basically the Skyler of this show. If Walt and Saul were not the protagonists, then Chuck and Skyler would seem totally sane and rational and not epic fucking cunts.
