Depends on your perspective. Chuck is basically the Skyler of this show. If Walt and Saul were not the protagonists, then Chuck and Skyler would seem totally sane and rational and not epic fucking cunts.
Well... not totally sane, in Chuck's case..

Yeah Chucks just a dick. Yea Saul took short cuts but even though he legitimately did things that made him stand out as a good lawyer (which we see when Chuck saw his case boxes and was like "You did this? You did all of this??" and he was shocked that he missed the fine print on those contracts and Saul didn't, he still refused to acknowledge that his brother may not just be a fuck up...which in the end I think he liked that dynamic more than thinking of Saul as someone who can do what he does.

Chuck isn't Skyler. Skyler had a moral compass and was annoying. Chuck's moral compass focuses on himself and he's a dick.

Also it's a bummer that the only weak episode had to be the final.

Jimmy kept going back to Slipping Jimmy over and over again in the show. The skater kids, the bribe from those dumb asses who went camping, the billboard. Chuck is a douche but he did tell Jimmy that people do not change and he was right. Jimmy was always Slipping Jimmy, he just tried repressing it because Chuck saved him. When he realized Chuck doesnt give two fucks, he let go and is has become Saul.

I liked watching the con games he ran with his buddy (can't remember his name so I will call him fatman). I don't quite get the ring fatman's mom gave jimmy though. I mean, did fatman wear that ring? Cause if jimmy could only fit it on his pinky, fatman would have had to have it on a chain around his neck. Also, I thought he'd take that last rolex as a memento. Maybe we'll see some significance to the ring later on.

Question for the BB fans. Was there any part of saul's business that was legit? Because I get the feeling he really does like helping the elderly and I could see that going forward he use the elder law as a cover and treat them all fairly and protect them, while at the same time having side business with guys like nacho and tuco.

1. that's the ring he wears in BB, BB is all about the jewelry and consistent bling, in a season break they had to create an entire scene just b/c it was pointed out that they didn't have consistent bling (s5 the gas station, btw)
2. no
you know the doggy doc, the one that fixed up Mike and gave him a job to do (or some offers). That is BB Saul, he is the seemingly New Mexico's underground middleman.

All that elder law bullshit is gone, he will be a lawyer for any easy ambulance chaser/malpractice lawsuit, and also one of the best criminal lawyers. (a lot more money instead of writing wills for 150 a pop)

Well, really the criminal defense part of his practice is legit. Think back to his original handling of Badger's case. He was gonna plea bargain his punishment down by working with the APD and the DEA. There's nothing illegitimate about that. It's standard MO in our criminal justice system.

jimmy was already defending criminals in the pilot. the shady part is his slip and fall cases which is still technically legit. i do think by the time gus shows up, jimmy will be saul goodman who isnt fazed by suggesting someone be shanked in the holding cell to make a problem go away.

He was legit, he was just connected to a lot of people who weren't. He was the go to guy to all the scum bags for a reason, he got them off because he was a good lawyer and as part of that he was connected when people needed money laundered or connected to other people.

He was a scum bag ambulance chaser too but that was on the up and up too and as was mentioned before, the airplane crash he really showed how low he will stoop to get clients but nothing illegal.

I don't think season finale was underwhelming, it helps defining Saul's character, how he went from lowlevel con artist from newborn lawyer. Chuck felt bad because Jimmy's law degree is the easy way while Chuck probably went to college and worked his way to the top, being a hardcore whiteknight lawyer guy. Then again I think it's definitely not about good / evil stuff, it's more about how people struggle when they're into grey area. It's kinda stated with the old geezer / young wolf cop duo. There are different ways to deal with some stuff.

No, Chuck is a dick. It's apparent from not only his interactions with Jimmy but others reactions to it in this last episode as well. I think Chuck likes the feeling of being better than Jimmy. Even Marco touches on it when he states that Chuck doesn't even like him.

It was less specifically underwhelming and more an indicator of a larger problem to me. The high points of the season were, to me, 5-0 and the scene with Jimmy's brother. Both of those answered major trailing questions from Breaking Bad. First, why was Mike in ABQ and what happened to set up the scenario with his granddaughter, and second, where Jimmy Mcgill ended and Saul Goodman was born. That was great, and it was riveting, and it was all well written and well acted. The problem I have is for those two core characters there are no more huge questions from BB we need answers to. So my question is, where does the compelling drama come from? It can still be a well written, entertaining show, but I can't see where we are going to get any more of those nutpunch Vince Gilligan moments we seemed to get two a season of from Breaking Bad and we got from those two scenes this season. I'll be watching of course, but Saul being Saul going forward will be fun but it won't really be dramatic, if that makes any sense.

I hope they prove me wrong. But I just left the season feeling like the only really compelling action going forward would have to be in the Nebraska timeline and the ABQ stuff will just be entertaining filler before we see Saul's final resolution.

Well, if we're naming our favorite scenes, for me it was in Tuco (I think) when they were in the desert and he saved the skater kids. Second favorite is all the grifting he did with marco.

It's Vince Gilligan and Bob Odenkirk. The show will still be awesome even if it doesn't revolve around answering BB questions

there is only one BB question i feel still needs answering and this will never happen on this show. what the fuck did walt's friend and his fiancee gretchen do to piss walt off enough to throw his career away and become a damned chemistry teacher?

Umm. She chose dumbo instead of walt? Seemed fairly clear to me.

What's it like have Bryan Cranston curse at you?

A: Oh man, he's a good actor. But it was easy because Vince Gilligan told us exactly what went down between the characters off screen: We were very much in love and we were to get married. And he came home and met my family, and I come from this really successful, wealthy family, and that knocks him on his side. He couldn't deal with this inferiority he felt - this lack of connection to privilege. It made him terrified, and he literally just left me, and I was devastated. Walt is fighting his way out of going back to that emotional place, so he says, "F- you."
Q Jessica Hecht (Gretchen)

we also see a scene of that too.

I infer that he got so mad he went to the closest piece of ass he knew he could get, and that was skylar, at the time she was a waitress and they just played around with the times crossword or some shit.

He probably got her preggers, he said "FUCK" went to Elliot cashed out his share of Grey Matter for 5k, bought the house and settled down as a chem teacher for 15years.

Gretchen and Elliot didn't "do" anything to Walt, instead Walt just let his own demons and insecurities destroy him from the inside and, he still uses them as his (albeit misguided) target for hate.

True, they maybe "stole" his work/research, but he cashed out of Grey Matter, probably means any and all shit he researched, belongs to Grey Matter, no? And Elliot and Gretchen built Grey Matter on the back of Walts research.

Least this has always been how i thought of it, probably others.
