South Park perfected creative bleeping for us almost two decades ago.I thought cable networks were maxed out at "shit".

HBO isn't some cable channel you get free with your basic cable package, you have to specifically pay a subscription for it. They can do almost anything they want, besides porn. Even then they could probably do porn if they wanted, I don't even know the laws. They did have the first scene from a TV show that showed cum on a girls chest. In the UK we get one "Cunt" per season. How are HBO getting away with Game of Thrones?
South Park is censored if you don't get it off the web.I think we're well past the threshold for fucks given about the word fuck, at least on Cable TV. When show's like The Shield, South Park, and Jerry Springer which was on during daytime television (back when it first started and was a lot crazier) cut through the swath. Basically violence is fine in the US, Vulgarity you can usually get away with if you've got the right venue. All bets are off if you start whipping out titties and slappin' em with your dick though, you'd better be on a premium channel, or on the interwebs (AKA the Americas 2.0). Country was founded by the religious fringe, basically the ones thrown out of Europe for their hard line practices (Other than the intrepid generally not the law making type, the entrepreneurs more concerned with $ than setting moral precedence, and poor which came in mass after and had no place in setting law).
HBO gives no fucks. Brian William's daughter got her ass eaten out by a dude in the season premier of that shitty show about spoiled hipster cunts. I'm pretty sure they will do whatever they want.HBO isn't some cable channel you get free with your basic cable package, you have to specifically pay a subscription for it. If you're talking about an actual killing then you're wrong. It does happen occasionally in live events, but the stations get in trouble for that shit. They don't actually show people dying in videos on the news and what not.As a Frenchman it's always odd to see the most naughty, despicable, infamous scumbag characters talking like they're into some utter 1900 drama because of US censorship. So it's okay broadcasting people getting shot by police on national news networks with vivid snapshots, but god forbid you'd ever say fuckitty fuck about it. Double standards much.
I know each state has different laws regarding what is legal pornography and what isn't. Like sodomy was illegal in texas and oklahoma up until recently. Some states don't (or didn't) allow penetration, and some don't allow cumshots. Back in the day, there would be different versions of movies and magazines distributed in different states. I'm pretty sure what playboy does is keep it in line with the most restrictive laws so they can show it everywhere and not get in trouble. The last time I watched playboy channel, they didn't even show penetration. It seems like no other channel cares about that anymore. I suspect that because of the internet, and possibly because of court decisions (like texas's sodomy law being struck down) those rules have relaxed, but Playboy might still feel like they want to be the 'classy' porn and kept the old standards.I have no idea who sets the decency standards these days but they don't make any sense. Like how "The Americans" shows Keri Russel's ass every other episode, and they have scenes where they are graphically fucking, but they keep her nipples covered every millisecond. To me showing two naked people humping away is way more graphic than showing some nipples, but that's not how the rules work I guess. The strangest one to me is the Playboy Channel where they show hardcore porn movies but edit out all of the cum shots. I want to know what person is okay with watching people fuck for 15 minutes with extreme closeups and the whole 9 yards but then gets horribly offended and writes to their congressman because a little jizz shoots out at the end. That person does not exist so it's bizarre that they do that.
The government has absolutely no censorship control over cable TV. All censorship on cable TV is self-censorship by the networks.I have no idea who sets the decency standards these days but they don't make any sense. This is correct. Regular cable can technically do whatever they want, they just don't due to their own policies. I know comedy central has a certain time at night where they don't enforce any language censorship. You can hear plenty of fucks and shits when they play their late night moviesThe government has absolutely no censorship control over cable TV. The government only has the legal authority to censor that which broadcasts over the public portions of the spectrum that they license to broadcasters.
They used to do porn, my 7 year old brain avidly remembers real sex series at 2 AM in the morning over summer vacation that my older brother would stay up to watch. We got HBO free, because the people before us had it setup and never got rewired (this one back in the days of scrammblers), and I don't think my parents had any clue HBO had porn on it.HBO isn't some cable channel you get free with your basic cable package, you have to specifically pay a subscription for it. They've done uncensored airings on Comedy Central, it depends on the time its airing.South Park is censored if you don't get it off the web.
