I need to compare how long the actual torrent is to the TV broadcast.

Last season the TV broadcast was always like an hour and 15-20 minutes, yet the torrents were only a normal-ish 45-48 minutes, just shitloads of commercials

Yesterdays TV broadcast was only 1:04, I wonder if the commercials shrank, or the broadcast time shrank

Saul, Scream Queens, Fargo, and I think American Horror Story always had fairly random runtimes and 1:04 isn't out of the normal range. Since I FF through commercials manually like a chimp, I have noticed that no matter the runtime the commercials are always the same. I think it's just that they're not stressing out about fitting the show into a certain time allotment. They're taking as much time as they need to tell their story and no more.

For some reason I have 10+ Better Call Sauls recorded. I'm guessing they replayed season 1 before the premier or something, but I don't know why my DVR recorded it. It's only supposed to record new episodes. When it does that, it often means they replayed the episodes with some sort of commentary.

Yeah I torrent most my shows now a days so commercials don't bother me. LoL

I hope they do more flash forwards to Saul today. I mean I love his story stuff but I'd like to see a few more looks into his world today too.

Am I remembering correctly that the stock broker was the asshole that Walt lost his shit over in S1 and torched his car at the gas station?

The tequila they were drinking at the resort was the same brand of tequila Gus gave to Don Eladio.

On talking Saul Vince Gilligan and Peter Gould kind of teased that we would be seeing a bit more of Gene (is what they called him IIRC)

pretty slow start but thats really the pace of the show. Why did Jimmy decide to join the big law firm? Staring at the fat guy and his trophy wife... he ... ??

still having a hard time shifting from breaking bad to this. I loved watching a show about an ordinary dude turn into an extraordinary person. Here its just kind of a dumb ass getting lucky sometimes, and we know that never really changes.

He's not all that lucky. He just knows how to make the best out of any given opportunity.

Agree with this. I see McGill as pretty smart, just with some ill-advised motives. Took the route of "con-man" in part to him being labeled a sex offender for his shitting on a car sunroof antics, and was eventually smart/worked hard enough to pass the Bar. Not really getting the "lucky" vibe.

Think its pretty obvious he took the position with the firm because he loves Kim.

So, I caught the beginning of 'talking saul' but I didn't record it. I was curious if the creators gave any clue as to what the light switch at the end was connected to? I realize it was just meant to show his rule breaking nature, but I wouldn't put it past Gilligan to actually have a backstory or explanation for why it was labeled that way.

If they did they never said a real reason...In fact Gilligan made a joke that some random stranger dies every time you flip it, but on the plus side you get jelly beans so its a moral dilemma as to how bad you want jelly beans

My conceit:

Kim references Pulp Fiction earlier in the episode.

Like Wallace's briefcase, the light switch is Walt's soul. Flipping it triggers Walt's descent and the inexorable meeting of the two characters.

ok, thought they might do something like that, but hoped it had a backstory.. like it turned off the fax or something.

edit: and then that ends up being a plot point later, like it causes a problem and he has to pretend he didn't do it.

For whatever reason I stopped watching this show after episode 5 in season 1. Finally caught up and damn, this is a good show. Don't know why I stopped in the first place.

Damn, you stopped right before the Mike episode? That was the highlight of the show so far
