I do a good 100 a week during winter but doesn't mean it doesn't suck, summer miles are in the 200+ range, so trying to keep the fitness strong/fat away.Be a man and ride outside!
Those things are a surprisingly good workout, aren't they? I picked up aKurt Kineticfor the winter, since I live in Fuck You Cyclist New England. I have high hopes for it, but most of the appeal of cycling for me is just getting the hell out of the house and turning my head off for a couple of hours.I picked up some cheap nashbar rollers to keep my cycling fitness up over the winter time/work on my spin game and tested them out this morning. Holy shit, I don't know if it's because I'm not moving so no air circulation or what but I've never sweated so hard in all my life. Was on them for like 20~ minutes and my whole T-shirt was just soaked from sweat and I even had a fan blowing on me.
I plan on setting up my laptop in front of the rollers and catch up on my movies/TV shows.
Yeah, it'll be road/trail in the winter for the most part. The new Mukluk3 looks pretty sweet, so it might be just that instead.Find something studded? There's only so much you can do, the real solution to snow is width and volume, I thought you were dead set on picking up a fat bike? Just do it man, you only live once, if you can pay it off reasonably just use a credit card. You won't regret it after you are outside riding all winter.

It's not just snow though, mud/sand are fun as hell. I'm going to "demo" one next week for a night or two and see what I can do with it. Traditional ride is through the state park along the Mississippi River (River Bottoms).Bikes direct has cheap fat bikes up right now if you are looking to stay on a budget.Save Up To 60% Off Fat Bikes and Fat Mountain Bicycles from bikesdirect.com
Also, rollers are a great cardio/form training work out but are shit for muscle building unless I buy a resistance magnet.
Edit: I wish it snowed here in Portland, fat bikes look like an absolute blast to just mash around in.
Yeah that one sums up XC.That is pretty funny. I've always liked this version myself.
