Bought my ticket for Reach the Beach(100mile) and Seattle to Portland(2day, 200 miles) tonight, probably gonna be rolling solo since none of my friends believe that bikes can go farther than the bar. Can't wait for summer now.

I bought my Oregon racing license over the weekend, Cat5 Trackie reporting for duty.

I snatched up a helmet/cogs/chainrings to be ready for next month to get my training on.

If any of you ride a 54, chainlove keeps posting this BMC full carbon, full ultegra for 1260, that's an amazing deal. I don't even have the money but I'd charge that shit in a heartbeat if it was a 60. Then again, I think it just sold, can probably turn a profit on that fucker if not riding. Oh well, was in mid type when it changed.

Just picked it up after the spring tuneup and some new goodies. Upgraded my shifter to an XT, put on a new mid cage XT Shadow Plus rear derailleur, and had my forks serviced/rebuilt for 130mm travel.

And grabbed a new warm weather helmet, aScott Stegowith the new MIPS system. Newish technology thatmakes your brain safer. Pretty pricey ($160) but I needed something that wasn't a road bike helmet for hot weather. (I wear a full face in the spring/fall)

I think I'm finally done...

Going to pick up a new rack for the new car. Any of you guys have any experience with these?

Products » NV Core | Küat

They're about $400 off Amazon. There's the regular NV and the Nv Core. The Core is $100 cheaper and all black, which I think I might want just because it's less eye-catching to anyone that might want to steal it if I'm parked at a mall or something.

The NV is a bit more expensive, and has a built in workstand. (Which would probably be pretty damn handy considering the amount of parts i break..)

Friend of mine has a Kuat and its absolutely the best most amazing rack ever. They are hella expensive though but he's a bit of a hustler wheeler/dealer kinda guy and traded painting work and cash for a rack that was missing the key for the lock. Was at a shop returned used. He got that shit for basically nothing and its the nicest hitch rack I've ever seen. If the price tag isn't an issue for you I wouldn't hesitate at all on the quality.

I ended up ordering the NV (the higher end of the two). This may come as a shock, but the anodized bling got me. It also comes with locks (which the NV core doesn't) and has the built in workstand. If you add in the cost of the locks for the NV Core, it's only about a $60 difference to get the goodies on the top end one. It's really not that much more expensive - the 2 bike Thule is $400, the Kuat was $500.

I've been rocking a beat up old Thule T2, so this should be a pretty sweet upgrade when it shows up.

Yeah, the fucking thing looks sweet as hell. There's no prettier rack on the market. Personally I could give a fuck about what your rack looks like, but I find myself standing around admiring his like it was a bike. He has the workstand thing too and we've used it but mostly because people are like "THE RACK STAND!!!" for work that could have been done as easily (and faster) with the bike upside down. Honestly the only routine sort of thing I'm using a stand for is adjusting shifting and if you need to do that when we've already racked the bike and driven to the trailhead, well fuck you asshole.

Dude I made two posts in a row without you hating on me for something. I'm feeling kind of left out. I posted a bunch of shit over the last couple of pages, I demand you go back and hate on them to maintain the balance.

I don't know wtf I'll use the stand for either, but I'm sure I'll be the asshole putting his bike on it every day for the first couple of weeks, haha.

I love my truck, just throw it in the back and call it good.

I overhauled the track bike today. Everything got regreased/lubed and a thorough cleaning, hopefully next weekend is nice and dry. I love the complete lack of parts on a track bike.

You spent $160 on a helmet, I don't think there's much left to say.

You love egging me on, I'm not even sure if I should believe you are getting it or you're just trolling me now.

There are SO many options for a lightweight full face that don't costFIVE HUNDRED FUCKING DOLLARS!!!!Chainlove has them popping up frequently too, I've considered it myself but it would only see use a few times a year when I hit the really rocky stuff. So far I've ridden the rocky trails hard without one and still have all my teeth so, meh. Plus I know I'd never wear the damn thing in summer at all no matter how light and ventilated.

Apparently Amazon decided that I really did want the NV Core instead, since that's what they shipped me. I'm just going to hang on to it, since it does look pretty ace and will save me a few bucks that I can waste somewhere else.
