So if someone could beat impossible using a controller, would they be considered more skilled than someone who beat it using a mouse? It'd definitely be harder. Does that mean PC players actually suck at FPS?

I know I've mentioned before but yea the actual gameplay of Bioshock 1 did nothing for me, on any difficulty. Halfway through I just started using cheats to goof around with in combat so I could keep exploring and experience the story without being bored. I've played plenty of slower/tactical shooters, and I think the game just wasn't really made for a standard FPS mechanic. Whoever said it should use a Metroid Prime style gameplay is right-on I feel like.

Wish I'd played Prime to give an opinion - unfortunately I'm a recent console afficianado so my GameCube was literally only used for RE4.

Lenas: Better tools don't invalidate skill - just makes it easier to peak.

Consoles work for most modern FPS because, as stated previously, they are quite linear. They gussy it up to look all pretty but it's really all just one big long corridor with a few turns/bends in it. I'm not a huge fan of it, but it was what it is.

If you ever want a prime example of what a more fast paced or classic FPS is like on a controller try out Doom2 on xbox arcade. It's pretty goddamn frustrating to play with a controller.

Doom 2 (and 1 and 3 for that matter) were a nonissue for me on an unmodded DualShock3 personally.

I found the Hydra to be too much of a learning curve for me (with Portal 2) when one of the gaming builds I was doing for someone had to have one included with his machine. Its neat but very awkward to get used to. It convinced me against getting my own toying with that build for sure.

For those of you that have the game, is performance as meh as rumored (average of maybe 20 fps)?

I've seen people argue that adoption of PS4/Durango will be slow because most of the games will be available on all consoles, but I think Far Cry 3 was just the start: people will be eager to upgrade because everything from this point on runs like dogshit on current gen.

When are we going to talk about story? The ending sounds both A) predictable and B) disappointingly Levine-y as metacommentary on gaming.

Control phreaks are awesome. And mathematically show why gamepads can't come close to the control of kb/m. They basically increase the pivot range of your thumb and are pretty essential for high level console play. However compare that to the pivot range of your wrist and you will understand why so many pc gamers hate on console fps

Im playing this on a old fat XBOX and there is some lag at some points in the game. An example is like 20 mins in you get to the raffle area and theres like 40 npcs that just pop up with bloom cranked. Didn't really bother me though but if you're really into framerates i'd suggest going PC.

This game's ending is so good.
